Just so I understand, the Wi-fi portion of the Battle Tower has you battling real teams from people around the world, but their attacks are handled by the CPU?

In other words they're non-made up Pokemon like the standard Battle Tower and you're essentially battling human created teams controlled by the CPU?

Exactly like that. I expect to see a lot of DDtars, Choicemences, and other OU Pokémon when I try it.

Yup, and a bunch of CPUs that wont know how to use them(atleast in the earlier stages). I heard that there was a hacked Slaking floating around in Battle Tower with No Ability, essentially making it an uber.

Some SPP members have been claiming that having FireRed/LeafGreen in the GBA slot changes the Pokemon you encounter in the tower (i.e. more Electivire/Magmortar). I doubt this is true, but just in case, can this be confirmed?

I've taken a few stabs at the tower with my in-game team just to check things out. My team was wiped by a Wobbuffet (totally caught me off gaurd) on the first try. On the second try I saw the likes of Blissy and Milotic. I don't think FireRed/LeafGreen has any affect on what Pokemon appear in the tower.

When I entered my team in the Battle Tower, I did pretty good. ^^

I mean, I made it farther than I thought I would.

I reached my 6th opponent, but lost. I tried several times to win, but still got the same results for that particular Wifi-room. I even changed up my team a bit. However, it didn't seem to matter which Pokemon I used....

Still, every time I made it to opponent number 6 in that room, they always beat me using that shiny Latias. O.O

Also, just in case people weren't sure, I'm talking about Battle Tower as a whole and not just Wi-Fi Battles.

Just like the Secret Base battles from the third generation, except these don't give out experience and EVs.

Those CPUs are fairly smart, though. I can't make it past the 6th round, I got destroyed by a Thunderbolting Gengar...

The old Subpunch Nite has served me well. It also freezes a hell of a lot of things. The only CPU I came up with that had some sort of strategy was a BPing Ninjask. Ofcourse it was holding a Petaya berry, used Swords Dance, and passed to a Golbat who died easily, and when all that was left was the Ninjask it just kept enduring for it's life.

I'm thinking I should start EVtraining some guys. I just found out that Ambi can learn ice punch through Emerald tutors so I've been wasting my time training my current Ambipom.

EDIT: *4 months later*

Handled by CPUs or not, it makes no difference imo. I've beaten Palmer (first round) twice, and can't even survive three battles in the Wi-Fi section of the tower. Everything's Dragon types in there, with their Draco Meteor and all that. I'd be LUCKY to find a Wobbuffet.

Good job bumping.

A Garchomp wiped my team in a 1-2-3 fashion..seriously one stone edge, knocking out an EVed leafeon?! in one hit?!

I lost to the 7th opponent in the battle tower.I was so sad and angry at the same time and I remember what he had.

A shiny lucario!!
Dragonite
Swampert

I lost to the Dragonite, because his thunder hit with sunny day in effect
