Okay I was thinking why some pokemon have wierd evolutions. Like a Remoraid evolving into an Octillery. Fish -> Octopus ?
Any other ideas?
Discuss.

i think one that has always goy me was magikarp to gyrados... a durp-fish to a beast of a Mother F*****

guess the same gos for feebas

the other is probally the mareep line >>> sheep > sheep > kangaroo

I still don't get Pupitar. It just doesn't fit to me, no matter how many times more 'enlightened' people explain it :-(

And you could argue the Dratini line is a bit wrong; dragony snake -> snakey dragon -> MASSIVE ORANGE DRAGON WITH WINGS AND STUFF (not that that bothers me)

Trapinch>Vibrava First it's a giant-headed ant and then suddenly it becomes a dragonfly.

Yamask>Cofagrigus Except the mask thing, they don't look alike.

I keep forgetting that Remoraid evolves into Octillery for that very reason...
I also find it strange that Azurill is a normal type, yet its evolutions are both pure water-types...

Dewott -> Samurott
It's because of the drastic change in anathomy of these both, but their themes are similiar.

There were very few drastic evolutions in BW. Most of the evolution stages are smaller versions of the evolved forms, like Gothitelle, Reuniclus or Vanilluxe.

Ampharos is a shaved sheep, actually.
I suppose Servine to Serperior is a little weird. Where'd it's legs go?

Rhydon to Rhyperior and Piloswine to Mamoswine.

It could be a throwback to how modern snakes evolved. Their ancestors actually had limbs which gradually became useless over time and that's why we now have limbless snakes.

Actually, the Trapinch line is based off of an antlion, where the larval form looks like, well, Trapinch, and the adult looks like a dragonfly.

magikarp and Gyarados are based off an old Japanese legend that a carp that swam up a waterfall would become a dragon.

how does

evolve into

or

?

I think there was an Origin of Species that explained this..

Dewott and its complete change, even in the animal world its odd, it goes from an Otter to a Sea lion :s Cool though, none the less.

Oooh and Exeggcute to Exeggutor is quite weird when you think about it, from eggs to a Palm tree. I know Exeggute are supposed to be seeds, but how? :/

To me, the Flygon line never particularly made sense. An ant to a dragonfly to a insect looking dragon? I guess it makes sense in theory.
