So, a while ago, I was playing Mario Kart Wii on my wii. Me and my sister were playing, and we decided to go on wifi. So we logged in fine and chose are characters and stuff. RIGHT when the screen said "searching for opponents" the screen froze, and a really loud buzzing sound appeared. I tried to turn off my wii, but it wouldn't, even if I held the power button down. I took out the disc just fine, but the Mario Kart screen was still on, and it was still buzzing. I unplugged my wii, and turned off my TV. Now when I got on my wii, the screen were your supposed the press A on wasn't there. I sent it to Nintendo, and they were saying that they could repair and restore it and stuff. When I got it back, the memory was COMPLETLY wiped off. They sent a letter, saying they had no idea what happened. Could someone here have a thought on what happened??? Thank you soo much!!!

UPDATE 7/13- My Wii coruppted AGAIN. I was playing Animal Crossing-just walking around, nothing much, when it did the exact same thing. Please help me!!! I don't want to waste another $80!!!

surely the last repairs offer some kind of warranty for the works performed - if nintendo refuse to repair it again for free then google "consumer rights" & throw that at them

Maybe....I still have the papers they gave me when they sent my Wii back before......let me see if there is some warranty for it.

EDIT: It doesn't say anything about warranty on them. So, there is no warranty on it??

i know UK consumers are entitled to their basic consumer rights (the "Trading Standards" people govern it) so if a "repair" doesn't repair something then you're entitled to a proper repair or a refund

i'm not sure who governs it in the US (just assuming you're american!) but there must be some kind of legislation in place - regardless of whether the company advises you of it or not

i'd say contact nintendo & explain their "repair" didn't do the job & that you begrudge paying for it so you want them to A: refund you; or B: repair the Wii for no extra charge - i work in customer services & accounts myself so trust me if you keep complaining they'll get to a point where dealing with you is haemorrhaging money & it works out cheaper for them to give you what you want!

(they may legally be able to charge you postage however in the UK at least you can claim that back from them)

I'll contact Nintendo and see what they say. I would rather get a repair then a new Wii, but I'll see what happens. Thanks!!
