. . . . . . . . .

Archaic, you just made my day  .

But yeah, it seems like the marketting worked for Nintendo - the geeks are heading for PS3 (as usual with those kind of game consoles), while the more stylish and the non-geek crowd is queuing up for the Wii.

Reminds me of the "Windows is for geeks, Mac is for the rest of us" thingy I heard some time ago...

The Apple-Nintendo parallels are striking, yes.

ROFLZ!

HAHA

yeah everyone thinks Ps3 is going to rock like woowoo!

www.video.google.ca search PS3 vs. WII

the video is halarious of course WII wins
yeah i think PS3 is way over rated!

Nice. Score one for the Wii. (Not that it needs any more to win this console race by a long shot.) XD

You know, though, all the people in the focus of the Wii pictures are female, and all the people in the focus of the PS3 pictures are male.

Though I think that just adds another level to it: chicks dig Wii.

I think everyone digs the Wii.

I've been looking at the commercials. Wii commericals are showing game play. PS3 Commericals are showing graphics. Wii commericals are also showing the wide demographic the Wii is meant for (Nintendo representives taking a Wii around for people to playtest it). PS3 Commericals are it sitting in a white room and odd things happening around it.

Between the Wii and the DS, I think Sony is no longer king of the mountain, especially when they deliver inferior gameplay for a higher price.

Look at the fan made commercial for the Wii that does a parody of Sony's.

The PS3's ridiculously inflated price alone should be enough to turn off most reasonable people, IMO.

That's why everyone's stealing them. Cops had to shoot one guy for resisting arrest after stealing one. And that was just this week...and it's only Monday.

I heard from someone that the game department of Sony is (well, was) the only department still making money. Think we can start saying goodbye to Sony?

I think Nintendo effectively proved this generation what makes a video game company different from computer or electronics companies when it comes to making video games. Microsoft will almost certainly survive to the next generation, though, since they had a year's head start and all, and they're friggin' Microsoft.

Still, it makes you wonder if any new companies will be entering the race. I'd love to see another video game focused company join in the competition - friendly competition is healthy, and video game companies just know how to make damn sexy systems.

Other way around, I think. Sony's gaming division is the one that's tanking the most.

The losses incurred by the PSP and now the development of the PS3 - and the Blu-Ray - and the delays - and the cost of manufacturing each PS3 (which is higher right now than it technically should be, since it has the PS2 and PS1 chipsets on board for compatability reasons, which it will eventually lose in later versions as the system is streamlined).

Sony isn't expected to start making a profit on the PS3 for years yet.

Nintendo, meanwhile, are on their way to bagging themselves 4 million Wii sales by the end of this month - each and every one turns a profit.

Though, seriously, if anyone thinks that losses will put Sony out, or that Nintendo are going to casually walk all over Microsoft and Sony to the number one spot, are deluded.

Wii took a chance and did new things, while PS3 did nothing but ratchet up the graphics (and the price)

That alone should prove it. And to be honest, the Wii isn't all that bad in the graphics department---look at the newest Pokémon Battle Revolution screens, they're gorgeous. Nintendo seems to know that graphics alone don't make a win.

PSP was a loss for Sony? I honestly didn't know that.

Geeks on the internet can whine and moan all they want about the PS3, it will sell and it will sell A LOT because it's "Da nu Playstation innit?"

They may be arrogant gits for parading that fact around in broad daylight, but Sony know this just as well as anyone else and that's why they couldn't really give a shit about how much they've screwed the PS3 launch or how high it's priced. It'll sell anyway 'cause to a lot of people videogames = Playstation.

And that isn't something that's going to change overnight and suddenly hand over the number one spot to Nintendo or Microsoft.

Though it should, at least, make this generation a lot closer than the last - where the PS2 was quite simply untouchable.

5 N-Gage QDs were sold throughout the UK last month. It's almost as much of a success as the XBox was in Japan! Of course there'll be a next gen version.
