I'd like to note that we respect the enforcement of our copyright, but at the same time--and this goes for all users--don't vandalize. Stuff that doesn't belong, though, feel free to take down.

Oyy. If they haven't responded to the message I left them by tomorrow, it's all-out war. I'll go to those who oversee TPE and have them kill it if I can.

"All-out war" will result in non-compliance, FYI. TTEchidna, grow up.

Anyway, I can't even compare the articles properly because I can't even access Bulbapedia. I received a 403 Forbidden error when trying to access Archaic's link in the OP

Because its closed. You didnt learn the first time, when we nicely talked to you.
Yeah, your users fail

To follow up on Magnedeth, changing one or two words, or the order of the bullet points, doesn't insulate you from a copyright violation. If it's in substantially the same condition, it's stealing. And we intend to enforce our copyright, just as we expect you'd enforce yours.

Ah yes, Angela. Though there appears to be no malice in this, she and I have a bit of a history. She made several offers to buy Bulbapedia out over the years. Offers that, frankly, showed her to lack any knowledge about us, our size or the community. $1,000 for Bulbapedia? If that was serious, that's just insulting. I rather expect she didn't realize the guy running the show here teaches these kinds of business subjects at university.

In any case, given the current conflict, obviously there's still a need for this warning to be up there, isn't it?

Not particularly helping with that article (flattery is nice, lacks substance). Nice to see someone trying however.

The best way to handle this would be if perhaps a "copyright infringement" template was put in place on TPE, if only temporarily; the template could be added to possible copyright-infringing articles (without resorting to blanking said articles). Anyone could add the template, and the template would simply notify TPE admins and users that a particular article needed re-writing. No vandalism from the people pointing the copyrights out, and less work for the TPE users.

Unless Charitwo perhaps has a simpler solution, or a better one? I can't imagine having pages randomly blanked is helping TPE out all that much, but we DO need some way to fix this issue.

So far, the most I've seen response-wise from TPE admins is what you guys (TPE) do not like; page blanking, vandalism, etc. (which I agree with.) However, I don't see any solutions being offered yet either. I do hope you have some plans to fix this situation, if you're opposed to the way things are being handled right now.

This question is merely for my own knowledge: what kind of laws/penalties are in play with a situation such as this?

Also, I LOLed at that Bulbapedia article someone made.

Not sure on the specifics of what you can do, but Wikia (as the host) is ultimately responsible for the copyright; generally, if a wiki they host proves especially problematic, they will shut it down so they don't get in any trouble.
Now, that's not the case here, I don't think, since it's only random users who copy+paste, and generally TPE fixes these situations. But if, say, they continued to do it, and nobody planned to fix anything, that would be a different story, and the wiki would probably just be terminated. (if Wikia decided not to do anything about it at that point, that's ANOTHER story, and Wikia could be sued for copyright infringement.)

Although this case will most likely be solved with simple collaboration, because the admins and users on TPE aren't any more retarded then we are. =P (no offense to anyone on either side.)

Posted up in the forum they have there regarding the theft of our material, and promptly got banned. Did take a screenshot first. If you go back through their recent changes and look at the block log and deletion log, you'll see me and this post.

Going to take it higher and higher up the chain of Wikia now, documenting every step.

I'm quite surprised I haven't been IP blocked over there... after all, Archaic asked a question and he got 20 years.
