Will Ash get all Z-Crystals? How could they be obtained?

Have we considered this? It'd be like getting 18 gym badges!

30 episodes in and he only has two but I think we should look at it more as 3 Z-Crystals obtained in 30 episodes. I don't think Ash will get them all, I think Team Rocket getting a Darkinium Z puts the nail in the coffin for Ash recieving one. Rockruff may know Bite but I think the anime are likely to skirt around Z-Moves that'll look weird such as; a Persian using Savage Spin-Out, an Electivire using Inferno Overdrive or indeed Rockruff using Black Hole Eclipse- they just wouldn't look right. It's for these same reasons that I don't expect to see Pikachu using Corkscrew Crash despite knowiung Iron Tail, although I think they talked about it in SM025.

You've got your 7 trials from the games, which I believe will all appear in the anime but they may not be in the same way, nor will Ash do them all.

-Waterinium Z, I think will more likely go to Lanna as Ash has know Water type moves and I don't think he'll be catching a water type at all.

-Firium Z, Ash has Litten and Kiawe already has this crystal so its fair game for Ash.

-Grasszium, not sure about this one; on one hand Kiawe has the fire crystal and Lanna I'm certain will get the water so Mallow should get it, but on the other hand Sophcles doesn't have Electrium Z- Ash does and Ash also had Rowlett. I suppose we can't rule out that both Mallow and Ash could have one.

-Electrium Z, Ash has one but I'm sure Sophcles will get one, esspecually since we need to see the observatory trial.

-Ghoustium Z, this is a funny one because the only Pokemon on the main cas that can use it right now is Mimikyu. It also brings into question the Darkinium Z that Jessi/Team Rocket have- what new moves or captures will happen in the future. Ash could get Decidueye but I think its more likely to then be showing of Sinister Arrow Raid rather than Nevere-Ending Nightmare and for it to be using both would be silly.

Dragonium Z, your guess is as good as mine.

4 Trial Captains, which I believe Ash will battle all of them.

Fightinium Z, Ash beat Hala but his Z crystal was swapped out for the yellow one. I don't think he'll get this crystal.

Rockinium Z, Ash wants it, Rockruff can use it; he's going to get it.

Darkinium Z, Team Rocket already have it and they got it from a Totem so I'm unsure. Ash will battle Nanu or at least a Kahuna of Ula Ula but I just don't see him getting this.

Groundinium Z, another funny one because I'm not sure they'll even want to show Tectonic Rage in the anime.

But then we still have:

-Flyingium Z, I'm sure Ash will get it. Rowlett can use it and will contiue to do so as a Decidueye. But how could thus be obtained? An anime exclusive Totem Toucannon?

-Poisinium Z, maybe for Mareenie? Team R9ocket's Z-moves are tentative because, while they have a crystal, they have no ring. Would they both have to get a Z-ring?

-Buginium Z, Charjabug is is on the main cast but I don't think Sophcles will get one.

-Steelium Z, Don't see anyone getting this but if Ash was talking about Pikachu being capable of using it in SM025, then maybe?

-Icium Z, would she, could she, should she? Maybe for Lillie and Snowy? Totem Crabominable?

Psychic and Fairy crystals seem very unlikely to go to Ash, depends on his nect two Pokemon.

I also think that Lana will get the Waterium-Z, probably in episode 33, and a Firium-Z for Litten. I'm also wondering who could get the Grassium-Z the possibilities being in my opinion just Ash getting it, just Mallow getting it, or Ash and Mallow getting it, with how little Steenee has done I personally wouldn't be surprised if Mallow doesn't get it. I think for the observatory that it could be either Sophocles does it and gets an Electrium-Z or Ash does it and gets a Steelium-Z or both get the Z-Crystal's after doing the trial. I also believe that either Ash will do it and get a Ghostium-Z for Decidueye or it could be Team Rocket who gets it for Mimikyu. I believe that Ash could catch a Jangmo-o so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the Dragonium-Z to use it with.

I do think theirs a chance that Ash will get the Flyinium-Z, James getting Poisonium-Z, Lillie geting Icium-Z, and I'm almost certain Ash will get Steelium-Z after the intrest he shown for it in episode 25.

Theirs no doubt it my mind that Ash will do all the Grand Trials though I don't think he will get the Fightinium-Z after its switched out. I have no doubt that Ash will get Rockium-Z to use with Rockruff. I think their is a chance for Ash to get a Darkinium-Z to use with Incineroar even with Team Rocket having it. No idea if he will get the Groudium-Z.

Also for Pokemon exclusive Z-Moves I believe Ash will get Pikanium-Z or Pikashunium-Z depending if Pikashunium-Z is shown in the movie, personally I think what was going on with the Electrium-Z in episode 19 could be a sign that it changes into one of the two Pikachu Z-Moves and if that does happen I think its likely the Ghostium-Z and the Darkinium-Z could change into the Decidium-Z and Incinium-Z.

He'll get few of them, I think. I can see him getting eight of them, two for each Grand Trial.

I don't think Ash will get all 18 of the Z-Crystals as majority of them would be useless to him in Alola. Considering the ending showed Lillie + TR doing the poses for Ice, Poison, and Normal respectively, TR got the Darkinium Z, and the jigsaw puzzles showing off Togedemaru and Popplio using Z-Moves, I believe the other cast members would use the Z-Moves instead of just Ash and Kiawe.

I'm thinking it'll turn out to be something like this:

Ash: Pikachu (Normalium Z, Steelium Z, & Electrium Z -> Pikanium Z -> Pikashunium Z), Decidueye (Normalium Z? & Grassium Z / Ghostium Z -> Decidium Z), Incineroar (Normalium Z & Firium Z / Darkinium Z -> Incinium Z), Lycanroc ( Normalium Z & Rockium Z), ???, and ???

Lillie: Snowy (Icium Z)

Kiawe: Turtonator (Firium Z)

Mallow: Steenee (Grassium Z)

Lana: Popplio (Waterium Z)

Sophocles: Togedemaru (Electrium Z) and Vikavolt (Electrium Z / Buginium Z)

Jessie: Wobbuffet (NA), Mimikyu (Ghostium Z), and Bewear (Normalium Z & Darkinium Z)

James: Mareanie (Poisonium Z & maybe Darkinium Z)

That'd just leave Dragonium Z, Fairium Z, Flyinium Z, Groundium Z, Psychium Z, Aloraichium Z, Eevium Z, Marshadium Z, Mewnium Z, Primarium Z, and Tapunium Z.

Snorlax's Z-Move as well as the Fighting Z-Move were already shown off. The Dragon and Ground Z-Moves would have to be shown off because of Hapu and Totem Kommo-o. Marshadow's Z-Move would likely be shown off in M20. Lillie could show off the Fairy Z-Move (and maybe Eevee's). The Tapu's Z-Move would probably be shown off by the Kahunas. I see Raichu and Primarina's being used by CoTDs or rivals. I have no clue about Mew's Z-Move or Flyinium Z and Psychium Z.

Well now he probably won't have a Pokemon that learns a fighting-type move since they decided to make that decision for whatever reason. If they hadn't, then the possibility would still be open.
