Will chimchar obey Ash when it evolves.

To be honest, I thought Charmeleon/Charizard's sudden turn to be very, very stupidly done. If it had been a jerk from the start, it would be a different matter. I doubt the writers will do something so foolish again, unless Monferno frequently unleashes power like Chimchar did in Chim-Charred. By then, I think it will have learned to control itself.

I think it would be cool if it disobeyed Ash. After all they are rehashing the old Kanto episodes into these ones, so why not the with Chimchar and Charmander like Charmeleon and Monferno? Shows what a jinx Ash has with fire starters.

Didn't the summer school eps have that stubborn Monforno that Aoi got? I would think that's the writers getting that quirk out of their system so Ash's won't have to go through the same thing.

Ash now has several leagues worth of experience under his belt. He'll definitely be able to handle Chimchar's evolution.

No. Please no. That was one of the things I hated about the Kanto anime. Please, no. I'm hoping that this isn't what happens.

Besides, Chimchar seems like he really likes Ash, and even though it shares a similar backstory to Charmander, I don't see them going that route, since I don't remember Charmander being particularly well-developed or necessarily friendly, and Chimchar is evidently a bit different in personality.

But I haven't watched any old Kanto episodes with Charmander in them for a long time, so my opinion on how Charmander really didn't seem to do much might be a bit off.

Charmander was a friendly Pokemon. It got along with Squirtle and such really well, and I remember in the episodes of the Giant Pokemon, he and Pikachu were the only or main 2 really defending Ash in saying that it cared. It was kind of a punk to them in the beginning but after that grew relatively friendly.

I think it was just a classic example of a Pokemon being too experienced for a trainer. Think of how strong that Manky must've been to evolve into a Primeape, and then that was some highly experienced Pokemon just socking up Charmander for a good while. It became over-experienced and Ash became unable to handle it really. That's all.

I think it also had to do with Charmelion and Charizard's personality types in comparison to Ash's as well. With Charizard, it almost seemed like it didn't respect Ash. It reminded me of a "bully" and a "nerd". Ash never necessarily stood up for himself or attempted to take command of Charizard, so it probably thought he was weak and just walked all over him.

Possibel, possible.

Unlike in Indigo.

Chimchar has a better backstory, and Ash is now a better trainer, so he should be able to control Chimchar.

I loved Charizard's story but I agree it would be dumb for them to rehash it.

I don't think they will, it doesn't matter. :p

I'm more worried about Floatsel than Monferno. The writers dedicated numerous episodes to Ash and Chimmy's friendship.

Oh god . . I hope it was obvious enough. Now I'm worried people really think one of the biggest insults in my arsenal is "a stupid pants."

I don't think the writers will let Monferno obey Ash, unless they make it when it evolves become proud of its new power and "run wild" but I don't think they will be another charmeleon/charizard story.

They'd better not make Monferno disobey Ash! >[ Jeez! Bad enough that they re-did Electric Shock Showdown and re-did Bye Bye Butterfree — Team Rocket-style. Enough already. Come up with some new ideas! Or if you're going to copy yourselves from ten years ago, at least make it interesting. :p

I doubt Monferno would be a problem to Ash. Ash isn't a rookie anymore like he was with Charmeleon, if this storyline of the disobedient Pokémon will be revisited I rather it be with Dawn when Swinub evolves into Piloswine.

Chimchar would be an unappreciative brat to disobey Ash after all it's been through under Paul.

Well, out of the three starters, otherwise known as Pikachu's co-stars, Charmander was usually shown to be the most mild-mannered and sensitive one, specifically in the giant Pokemon island ep. Bulbasaur was the indifferent yet easily annoyed one, and Squirtle was the wild child of sorts. It was only after becoming Charmeleon that it got the attitude problem (and basically became a more extreme mix of Bulb and Squirt).
