The new movie poster revealed today showed that Melotta will be featured in the short. Do you think she'll get something more?

Yes, probably an episode special or a movie along with some other legendaries.

Talk about being demoted to extra for Melotta. Perhaps she'll be given the same treatment as the Kami trio?

I don't like people randomly calling it a "short" - we didn't have one of these since movie 6 (it was the last one to feature a short movie... and no, the AVA shorts don't count since they weren't related at all to the movies)
I think there's a chance it'll be a longer than a "short"... maybe it's two movies, similar to what Movie 14 did, but unlike Movie 14, this time the movies are actually different (rather than different versions of the same movie) with one movie being shorter than the other - so the Keldeo movie, as the "main" thing, will be about 60-90 minutes, while the Meloetta movie will be about 30-40 minutes
We didn't have a "short" since Movie 6, so I really think the situation is different... or at least, could be... I know there's still a chance the "shorts" make a return to the movies from now on (or only for this one movie) but I'd still like to think they'll do something more with that...
It reminds me the Holic/Tsubasa movies - they were released together, with Holic being about one hour and Tsubasa being 35 minutes - which also crossovered with each other... so I'd like Movie 15 to do something like that... one hour Keldeo movie and half hour Meloetta movie (hopefully a little longer for both...) and make the two linked to each other in some way...

Having her appear in next year's movie would render her role in this mini-movie redundant, so I can only see her appearing in a special episode after this. She will definitely be distributed this July.

It is possible that Meloetta will be given an episode in the anime series, just like it had been done for Shaymin (both formes), Heatran, Cresselia, and Darkrai in DP.

Hey guys, the feel of the discussion is alright so far, but make sure to keep in mind that discussion on the movie should stay in its thread.
 
Is it just me thinks that they will associate Meloetta with Pokemon Musicals? While it could go either way on Musicals appearing again, perhaps Meloetta will be the reason to do so.

Perhaps adapting the story mentioned in the Bulbapedia page about the lost melody, having Ash meet a COTD who happened to be humming the song earlier on, and then have that get into Ash's head when he meets Meloetta separately later on - kinda like the Baltoy episode in AG, just without the whole time travel thing. From there, I think a connection to musicals is fairly logical, the story is all about dancing to this song - and the perfect dance of that would be a fairly ultimate thing for someone on the quest to be the top of the Musicals world.
