If I remember correctly, Paul has traveled all over Johto, Hoenn, and Kanto and has gotten many badges.

So it makes sense that he has many Pokemon from other regions which he keeps at home just like Ash does.

And it is well known that he likes to use his strongest Pokemon no matter what...so when the Sinnoh league comes, will he use some old Pokes if they are stronger?

Although knowing Paul, if he had a lot of strong Pokes at home, he'd be using them now instead of doing what Ash does and only using Pokes from the region (besides Pika).

Paul definitely has other pokemon at home, did you see how many badges hes won in that episode with his brother?

But you are right, knowing Paul he wouldn't even bother with some of the Sinnoh Pokemon if he indeed had stronger ones waiting at home. Maybe tho. IDK.

It would be awesome if he had new, never-before-seen Pokemon tho.

All I know is Ash better sick Charizard on that cocky son of a gun if they battle each other in the league. I'd love to see Paul's face when/if Ash sends Charizard out.

Those weren't his. Those were Reggie's badges.

As for "all Sinnoh Pokémon", I'd consider that only if none of them are from other generations, caught there or not.

QFT. Charizard is by far the most intimidating Pokemon Ash owns. And Paul doesn't know about him. The only Ash could surprise Paul more is if he caught a Dragonite / Tyranitar / Salamence / legendary pokemon and pulled it out at a critical point in the battle.

Seriously, Ash breaking out Charizard as his last Pokemon, especially if Paul saves Torterra for last would be classic because Paul would probably loose control of his bladder.

Anyways, to the OP's question, I assume Paul is using what he considers to be his strongest team, so the only switch would be a new acquisition between now and the league.

Haha yes. Paul looks down on Ash because he doesn't fully appreciate all Ash has done in the past...so seeing Charizard and maybe Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Snorlax, Sceptile and co. would put that guy in his place.

Paul calling out Torterra and expecting Ash to counter with Gligar or something, then seeing Charizard come out would be soooooooooo awesome.

Anyways, you are right TTE, those badges were Reggies. But it can be assumed Paul has a lot of badges too cuz didn't he say he entered the leagues in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn?

I always thought that Paul secretly has Pokémon that we haven't seen yet that will likely make their debut in the debut like Tyranitar or Salamence.

I know in future episode Paul is going to try and challenge Brandon and he'll use a hariyama so thats the only pokemon I know that he didn't catch in Sinnoh Probably

Heh yeah, the preview to the Brandon eps shows that Paul has a Hariyama, so its possible he has even more old pokemon.

I don't think Shinji really has Shinou only pokemon. He just switches them all out whenever he pleases.

And Satoshi using Lizardon or any other old pokemon would be the most insulting thing he has ever done. The writers aren't THAT stupid.

i love how people forget that honchcrow and weavile are confirmed to have been caught outside of sinnoh. if i remember right honchcrow was jhoto and weavile kanto or hoenn. and of course torterra will have been there the whole time so theres only three spots open that could belong to sinnoh pokemon gliscar and ursaring are confirmed to be sinnoh not sure about electabuzz but he's probably sinnoh too. so his current team is half reserves already. also i think magmars sinnoh too and hariyama would be hoen so still half and half on reserves/new pokemon

I'm sure Shinji will use the team that he thinks is strongest, without really even considering where he caught them. That's what his style is, after all.

I'd say the team he has now, he will use, not sure if usering is still there, but that thing can get scary and plus its very strong. Electabuzz/vire is a must, same with torterra and honchkrow.

I can't see Ash older pokemon being used, since Ash would want to prove how well his Sinnoh pokemon have came along and got stronger, unlike what Paul thinks and catches already strong pokemon.

I don't know why, considering it's so obvious to us that Shinji's got old, strong pokes, it would be such a huge surprise for him if Satoshi used Lizardon. He's not stupid.

Anyway, for plot convenience purposes at the very least, I think he'll battle Satoshi with at least most, if not all, his current team.

He's bound to use more than his "new" Pokemon from this trip in Sinnoh. Torterra, Weavile, and Honchkrow were all caught/owned prior to his return to Sinnoh (which is his current journey).

So in all actuality, it'd be completely fair for Ash to use Pikachu + 2 more throwbacks, assuming that Paul sticks with that team. Its likely that he will, since each of them advertise Sinnoh.

Yea i forgot about some of Paul's pokes being caught outside of sinnoh.

Also i think ash really only has to use chimchar/or whatever it will be evolved into by that point to show Paul the 'love your pokemon' lesson, since it is the link to the contrast between Ash and Paul's styles.

Using Charizard could show Paul, 'Hey, Pokemon can grow uber-strong even if you don't act like a Richard towards them'

........yeah Ash should say something better than that :l but I think if Ash uses Charizard, Sceptile, Glalie, Torterra, Pikachu, and Staraptor he might have a fighting chance

aha yea i hope he says something better than that too! i was just saying.

but yea, that would be a strong team, but I gotta think Ash would let Chimchar/whatever it is evolved into by then against Paul.

It would only be fitting to let Chimmy eliminate Paul from the League! XD

Why do people assume that his current team doesn't stand a chance against Shinji? They're actually pretty damn good. We're not talking about a team of unevolved starters here, but pokemon who have all proved themselves in their own right.

you are right. i guess its just fun to dream about the old pokes returning for cameos.

I do sorta agree, I'd love to see the old pokemon again, but I just don't want them to get the league matches which the Shinnou team has worked hard to get the gym badges for and for any of the current pokemon to be shafted.
