This topic is for the discussion of whether or not you think Team Galactic will be making an appearance in the D/P series and having Ash, Hikari and Brock meddling in their business.

Well, I for one would like to see Team Galactic to be in the anime, but I'm having doubts that it'll be possible. Team Galactic have no rival team to compete against, which means that there might not be that much for the writers to do with them. Then again, they featured Team Aqua and Team Magma for Saga in Hoenn. And maybe Team Galactic may end up being the ones to cause Dialga and Palkia to fight with each other in the 10th Movie.

But what do you guys think?

Even in Japan, this has yet to be determined. And they're going to be 18 eps in this weekend. I am kinda hoping they opted for more of a game-true appearance of Team Galactic, as I think they're supposed to appear after the first gym, and they're not past that yet.

They'll definitely be featured in some form, the writers aren't going to totally leave out the villains from the new games.

However, who knows what form they'll be in. Team Magma showed up as early as AG2, and Team Aqua appeared only 10 episodes after that or so.

They're taking their sweet time with them, I'd say.

As has been stated many times, they don't even appear in the games until after the first gym.

I'd say that, with BF and now DP being quite strongly plotted and story/character-driven (much more so than in the past 7/8 or so years before) I'd imagine they'll follow the game plot pretty closely for Team Galactic.

I just hope that whatever way they ARE incorperated into the anime doesn't end in the same shitfest that TA/TM splashed out on.

The anime sucks at any attempt at serious plot, so they'll be horribly bungled and misused of course.

I agree with Habunake, "Pokemon Hunter J" will be the first to feature Team Galaxy just because the group will probably be in/around Kotobuki City again. I think if the animators followed close to the game story and actually tried on the TG episodes, that this might become an extremely good sub-plot.

Magma/Aqua were actually handled well in the beginning, they stuck to their game appearances and they were actually a real threat.

Then for some stupid reason the writers skipped over Mt. Pyre, and after that the Magma/Aqua storyline had a rushed and anticlimatic ending.

Shame, Magma/Aqua showed a lot of potential when Hoenn started and people were very excited that the show had real villains. Of course the writers screwed that up as we went on because they wanted to focus on Gyms/Contests more, so it makes you wonder if the same thing will happen this time.

Apparently juggling the Gym/Contest storyline is enough for the writers, add in a third plot (villains), and everything goes to hell. That's one of the reasons why I think Magma/Aqua got such a abrupt ending in the first place.

Actually, three plotlines would problably be enough to erase fillers from the series . . . a delightful proposal.

Team Rocket were real villains. (I'm talking about those episodes scattered through Master Quest, not JJ+M.)

Gyms and Contests don't take much time from the show in most episodes where they aren't happening. The writers have often used in-game events for episodes, so Team Galactic shouldn't be a problem.

Gyms and Contests don't take much time from the show in most episodes where they aren't happening.

Except for the fact that there's always episodes leading up to them or related to them. Ash is always training his Pokemon now for the next Gym, something he rarely ever did in the pre-AG days.

They also make episodes just to progress the Contest storyline, such as May meeting the retired coordinator with the Delcatty, or meeting the Numel trainer. Or episodes like the Wynaut ep where Drew shows up in a non-Contest ep.

If you look back at AG, almost all the May-centric episodes either had to do with a new capture or something relating to Contests. In D/P, they spent an entire episode, "Pochama Hangs on!" just for Pochama to perfect its Bubble appeal.

Contests take up a lot more of the show then people realize, its not just the two-part Contests they do, but there's also a ton of coordinator-centric episodes just for May/Hikari to perfect what they're doing or to learn from someone else.

Take that in along with the fact that the writers made 15 Contests in AG, most of which were 2-parters, in addition to the two Grand Festivals, (which were three-parters), and that took out quite a huge chunk of AG's 191 total episodes. Make no mistake, Contests are a HUGE part of the show and it baffles me that people didn't realize this as they were watching AG.

I expect the same to happen in D/P. Add in all the Contest stuff with Ash's storyline and the occasional Brock/TR filler, and that takes up a huge part of the writers time especially with the fillers involved.

Team Galactic will hopefully get more than a rushed 2-part conclusion, that's really the only thing that killed the Magma/Aqua story in the end.

That, and them suddely starting to ignore the subplot when it started picking up. Skipping Meteor Falls is acceptable, skipping Mt. Pyre, the secret base and the hunt for the legendary pokemon certainly aren't.

I suspect they may still be looking for a new VA for Giovanni, given his original one died.

Because let's face it, it'd be SO easy for them to reuse TM/TA's storyline (what with buildnig the base and whatnot) in D/P...

Ooh. You mean, he's had an appearance on the anime? Why have I not seen screenshots?

Why need to search for new? There was Giovanni in episode AFTER original VA died.

EDIT: Whoops, pwn3d.

That'll also be the first time we hear Giovanni's new dub voice, I think.
