Does anyone really think there will be an E4 arc?

(I also looked for this thread earlier, but I didn't see one, so yeah. If there's a problem with this thread, will the mods close it?)

There should be, and it would only take 9-10 eps to do anyway, so it wouldn't be long.

It all depends on if Ash wins the league, and this time I really see no reason why he shouldn't. Ash beating Paul is practically a given, and I see noone Ash should lose to.

With all the foreshadowing they've done with the E4 this gen, if it doesn't happen it'll feel like the writers led us in the wrong direction.

I do. It's basically Chekhov's gun. Why explain who they are and stuff and give them all appearances if they don't intend to use them?

No, not at all and I don't think we will have at least until Gen 8.

I don't believe that there will be an E4 arc. The E4 appearances could have been just to introduce game characters, it doesn't necessarily have to lead to something.

Anyway, Oba and Kikuno were shown to be way too powerful for Satoshi.

Infernape and Torterra had just evolved and weren't at the height of their performance.

If you noticed Pikachu lasted quite a bit against Flint's Infernape before going down.

By Gen 8 most of us will either be:

a) Dead
b) Have grandchildren
c) No interest

Hopefully I won't be dead or have grandchildren by the age of 40 or so.

Needless to say, your interest or lack of it has no impact on when and if an E4 arc will ever occur.

Excuse me, practically any character from the games ends up being to powerful for him. That's why he has all those gym rematches.

Pikachu is Ash's strongest Pokemon, who took down a Regice, and yet still lost to Infernape. If a Legendary-beating Pikachu can't take down Infernape, there is no way Ash will get to Cynthia.

I don't think it, if there was an E4 arc this would mean that Ash would win the league and that's quite improbable xDU It's too soon for that. But I think that there will be a mini BF arc (10-11 eps) at the end of the league before V Gen.Ash have to win Jun's Father xDU

It's called plot.

Yeah, and it didn't cause any visible damage either.

Ash usually gets his clock cleaned whenever he loses to a Gym leader the first time, then comes back stronger almost immediately.

Likewise, do you really think if Ash uses all his older Pokemon he wouldn't do better?

The writers won't dare let this generation end without the Kanto/Hoenn teams doing something, as the Johto team will be in the league.

Okay, that was a random statement.

Not so quite. Ash got better placements in each saga little by little.

I expect that he will get in Top 4 this time with reserves, and in next gen Top 4 without reserves and so on.

Good.

For Volkner to have that flashback and because of that, to get his fighting spirit back, and to show that Pikachu getting his power back by the end of this saga.

Copypaste, yum yum.

We know Ash will defeat Paul, but we have no idea if a -son rival will appear. They don't show up until the actual competition, so we have no way of knowing. We can infer though, but we don't actually know for sure because we aren't the writers.

Maybe they just wanted to show the Elite 4 and that will become a common thing in the anime now.

And if the games are released in September like they have for the past 6 years, this will be the only option since we have to do the Pallet Town episode for Ash to drop off his Sinnoh Pokemon and get new clothes.

If it happens, it happens. I'll be happy. But if it doesn't, then oh well. It's 30 minutes on a Thursday, and I'll have better things to do in 4 years then to whine about Ash not winning a league.

All of this.

Oh you and your demands basing this all on the Battle Frontier, which left the Johto team out actually. It would be fitting if they left the Kanto guys out.

Exactly. If a gym leader is too powerful, then an E4 member sure is. Thank you for proving my point further.

So Plot will ensure that Pikachu will somehow defeat Infernape. And besides, assuming the E4 challenge is the same as the games, Ash will have 6, probably exhausted Pokemon by the time he reaches Flint, Lucian, Cynthia, or even Bertha.
