Honestly, I'm wondering for a while, since almost every movie (I can think of now) are in 3D.

Do you think they will make a Pokémon Movie with 3D effects in the future? And would you like it?

They should! It would be soooo epic to see the first movie in the theater again! In 3D. Oh yeah!

I do not care for 3D, personally (it makes me feel nauseous, AND I have to pay extra for the privilege, so I don't think you can really blame me), so a pokemon movie which utilises the gimmick wouldn't be of much interest to me.

Not going to happen. Doctors recommend that those under six avoid watching 3D movies because of the potential damage it can do to their eyes, and the under six crowd is a significant portion of the audience who goes out to see the Pocket Monsters movies in theaters.

And before anyone brings them up, those 20 minute 3D shorts that aired in select areas are totally different to a nationally released 90 minute summer blockbuster.

I would hope not. ._.; I really dislike 3-D; it hurts my eyes and gives me headaches. :/ And I'm used to 2-D flat animation, so it'd be a huge change for me; why not stick with what has worked? Don't fix what isn't broken. *shrug*

They could make it...but I don't think we'd be getting our money's worth with just 3D. Maybe if it added more special effects and made it 4D I'd be willing to pay

While I do own a 3DS, I dislike watching 3D movies. As well, it doesn't really matter once they are released, because most people don't have 3D TVs yet...

Three-D is not a gimmick. Back in the '90s when it was done with the red and blue glasses and random things would pop out of the screen "just because they can"... that was a gimmick. 3D now is generally done well and only contributes to the goodness of the movie... very rarely does it work against it.

The thing is, is anime commonly done in 3D? Typically 3D is only done in live-action and CGI cartoons... not usually traditional animation (except the few Disney movies which are being converted). If it is not done with Japanese anime (and I have no idea if it is or is not) then I don't think it really needs to be done to Pokémon either.

I always thought that was aimed more at the glasses-free 3D, especially video-games where you need to stare and focus on a tiny screen.

I don't think that 3D-glasses type movies have the same issue. Honestly, with Pokemon going to the 3Ds next for Gen VI, I can definitely see them introducing a Pokemon whose gimmick involves traveling dimensions, or something, and basing a movie around it with the main draw being POKEMON 3D.

Come on, I would fucking eat that up if I was a kid.

I don't really care if it was 3D or not. I just want a movie with decent/good plot and storyline.

I fail to see how that's any different from 3D as it's overwhelmingly deployed in cinema today. That a number of the 3D films we've seen over the past two or three years were filmed conventionally and only then converted to 3D post-production does rather reek of "just because they can" to me.

In the case of Pokemon, I find it hard to picture the experience being much more immersive than a few of Pikachu's thunderbolts/other pokemon attacks popping out of the screen at various points. It hardly seems worth the effort. Ultimately, visual gimmicks will never be a substitute for decent storytelling or emotional immersion, which is where I'd much rather the Pokemon movies (or any movies, for that matter) directed their efforts.

I'd think that they'd have to film it specifically to be made in 3D, like Avatar. If Nintendo was willing to spend the money for such an endeavor, then it would possibly be one of the few 3D movies worth seeing.

i hope so, then it would have to be released in theatres around the world, and it would have to be a 100 million doller blockbuster

Part of me would really like to see one of the earlier movies converted to 3D for a re-release (I actually did an April Fool's Day joke about it), but I'm not sure how commercially viable or important it would be. It's certainly the sort of thing that would have to start in Japan-I can't see them doing it for just the dub version.
