Will they update the Pokedex to include Gen IV-VI Pokemon in Hoenn?

And by this I mean in Hoenn's regional dex, obviously not the National dex. I really think they should. Not only would this allow for more team choices, but they could even change gym rosters/rival rosters etc and the like if they wanted to.

I know people thought 450 in XY was a lot, but having the choice there is better than not, imo.

Yes. Question is where will they be found? Anyone want to start a list of possible locations?

I would like to think so. At the very least they'll complete some of the evolutionary lines that were added to.

Oh, would be a good idea. Even if it was just Gallade, Froslass and the like.

Wouldn't Game Freak go against the series continuity by allowing Gen V pokemon to appear as wild in Hoenn?

I thought it was established during Black and White that the Gen V Pokemon couldn't be found in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh?

They'll probably include the Gen. IV evolutionary relatives for the Pokémon in the Regional Dex like they did in HeartGold and SoulSilver. They might add some of the other Pokémon into the Safari Zone in a new area, like they did in Emerald with the various Gen. II Pokémon.

Personally, I hope they leave the Hoenn Pokédex as is. Out of all the Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex, the additions to evolution lines have been:
  • Budew
  • Roserade
  • Chingling
  • Magnezone
  • Rhyperior
  • Gallade
  • Probopass
  • Dusknoir
  • Froslass
I wouldn't object to those 8 being added in, ala HeartGold/SoulSilver, but that would be it for me personally.

All of these require an item to access (incense/stones/whatever), so it's entirely possible to leave them out (as GF mostly did for HGSS).

Yeah, that is true. If there any additions to the Pokédex though, I hope it's only them.

(Although the number is 9 - the Magnemite and Rhyhorn lines were in the Hoenn Pokédex).

To make sure that GF DOESN'T ruin the continuity, they could add new areas where you'd find the new Pokemon.
Or they could make them sequels and just say that those Pokemon migrated to Hoenn throughout the years.

Oh, right, we're talking Hoenn Pokedex, I was thinking Hoenn native....

The only thing I'm going to miss about G6 RS is I don't like any Fighting types pre Gen 4. As it is, I'll be really tempted to go trade off my starter for a Riolu or Mienfoo or Hawlucha or ... something....

Probopass (and Magnezone) are both location-based evolutions; they could make the evolution location accessible post-E4, but I can also see those two being incorporated into the Hoenn Dex somehow. (A certain room in Mt. Chimney exclusive to ORAS would be mnost likely.)

At the very least I hope they don't take the HGSS route and require you to evolve them in X/Y and then trade them back over. (In HGSS there was no legitimate way to get Magnezone without trade, despite its pre-evos being in the Johto Dex.)

Yes, I think they need to to add a bit of variety to the Hoenn Dex. So I'd expect the Dex to be overhauled much like Platinum and BW2 did, add in the new evolutions, but also a bunch of new families from other generations (maybe even 4th, 5th, maybe 6th gen if we're lucky?). As far as what, I'll get into that a bit later, but in general it's probably going to be Pokemon that are unavailable/only available in the Friend Safari in XY (to help complete the Pokedex), and more Ice, Ghost, and Dragon families (because there's too few of those in the existing Hoenn Dex).

Well I will be using at least Froslass from that list, so I hope they include her just so it's not a pain for me. But I think they'll be added. I mean, it would be super awkward if we had Roselia all by herself again but this time we know she's a middle evolution.

This is like if they made Charmeleon available in the wild, but you couldn't evolve him to get Charizard or breed him to get Charmander. I know it's different because of the items, but I see Budew-Roselia-Roserade as a single evolutionary line now.

I sure hope they include Pokemon from newer generations. Although, that wasn't the case in HG/SS and FR/LG, save for post game...not that it would be remotely surprising if they switched it up this time around.

I'd like to see more Fire, Ice, and Ghost-types included in general. The latter two especially to give Phoebe and Glacia's teams some variety.
