Just wondering, will you teach your kids about Pokémon. What it was, what it is now. I know I will. But I'm afraid my kids will never be able to play the original Red and Blue b/c by the time I have kids, they will be almost impossible to find. I wish I can find mine.

maybe... Oh, yeah, I think I will. They are bound to ask why the cat is named Chloe and the dog Victor and why the two are in love.

Teach? There would be no need! Pokemon was, is, and will still be a popular game franchise.

Also, that's what roms and emulators are for, although I don't think anyone would make a Game boy emulator for windows 70, since by then we would be playing 5th gen consoles on a handheld device.

^ Windows 7 is actually more backwards compatible than Vista (or have so heard).

As for the children thing, nothing. I lack a sexual orientation.

Like how Zelda is? Pokémon'll be around then, and I'll probably show off my old games... but it won't be like some day in the park.

^this was what I was going to say. I 'probably don't have to because they have there own games. Sure I can show them the original yellow/silver/sapphire on emulators on the pc, so they know what those regions looked like originally.

2019: My 6 year old child gets an account on Pokemon ........... Neon version. Mmo, for Nintendo's 9-10th gen. consoles. I only need to teach about Ev's, Iv's and enviornmental accurracy to my kid, Markikz (marc-its).

By the way, EVERYTHING CAN VARRY FOR A POKEMON! My lv. cap Tyranitar has 740 acc. stat, and for it, Stone edge base acc. is 105%.

Back on track, of corce, Pokemon is life, universe, everything.

I'm Back from haitus, bulbagardites!

Hell no! I'll mention that I loved it as a child, but I don't want my kids to become addicts! like I am...

I'm sure it wouldn't stop them from developing their own crazy obsessions, but I really don't want to aid them down the slippery slope of fandom.

Heh. If I for some reason end up adopting one day, and they show interest in my load of Pokémon goodies, I'd probably try to ease them into over the years while making sure they don't end up as obsessed as I was as a little kid... and am now. XD

Of course, I don't care for kids and don't see that ever changing, so this probably won't ever be an issue.

YES! As Pokenutter once told me, Pokémon isn't just a game anymore. It's a lifestyle.

My children, should I ever have any, will definitely be introduced to the world of Pokémon when the time is right. Red's legacy shall live on!

If I ever have kids (and if I do I'll adopt, don't want to go through the horror that is pregnancy) that is, then yes. I'll tell them about in a heartbeat and force them to like Pokemon. D:<

Okay...not really, but I will tell them about it if they ask and will try to get them interested into it if it's still around.

I'm having a vision of a dad going into their child's room and finding a little baggy holding a Pokemon game cart.

Dad: Where'd you get this? How'd you learn how to play this?
Child: I learned it from you okay! I learned it from watching you!

Well, if they're going to ask, I wouldn't refuse to explain... I'm not going to actively push them into liking Pokemon, though.

I will if Pokemon is still around and they're old enough. Meanwhile, if my nephews get into pokemon, I have a feeling my sister will know whose neck to wring.

I'll probably tell them about it at a young age, regardless of whether it's still around when this comes happens. If it's still around and they show interest in it as a young kid I'm gunna go all "EVERYTHING OLD SCHOOL IS BETTER THAN THE NEW STUFF. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE NEW GAMES, YOU MUST PLAY THE OLD ONES FIRST!" And introduce them to the old stuff, make sure they appreciate everything.
Show them the earlier anime, show them the earlier games, mentor them on abilities, EVs, everything.
But only if the kid shows interest.
If he doesn't give a shit, then I'll probably just bring it up every now and then, like "Hey, I was thinking of getting the new Pokemon ga-" "DROP IT DAD!"
"Yes son..."
And if the kid does get into, I'll probably end up being very wary of how much time he spends on it, but I'll only stop him if it gets to the point of obsession early on in his years. I don't want him to be alienated from his peers.
