About Me
I'm just an average guy who likes singing. I like music, singing and being creative. Drawing, writing and making videos are also other hobbies I enjoy. Here you'll find mostly covers (hence the title!). You can find me on youtube through my two youtube accounts Eduxblaze (Song covers) and MisterMystify (Everything else).

I've never had any singing lessons, besides roughly two and a half hours of instruction from a friend's brother on breathing technique.
I like to experiment with my vocal tone and seeing how that affects the music.

Despite being on this forum for four or so years I haven't posted much which should give you an indication of my personality.
Think reserved and indifferent with a quirky sense of humour.

I believe in making my covers unique with my own personal mark on them. If you wanted to hear it like the original, wouldn't it be better to just listen to the original song?

So look around and tell me if you like (or hate) anything.
I live on feedback so that is very appreciated.
If you want, request something, but be warned that I have a habit of slipping schedules.

Re: Winged Psychic's Mostly Covers

I'm so happy you made your own thread! I really liked listening to the song "Part of Your World" in Chinese, since I've only heard it in English before. It was really interesting. I thought you sounded great! My favorite Bulba Idol song you covered is "Gives You Hell." It fits your voice nicely.

And Sam the crow is cute xD

Re: Winged Psychic's Mostly Covers

Thanks for the feedback Paperhorse. I finally got around to that karaoke challenge you mentioned me in in the karaoke thread. I covered Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire.

:D

I totally knew that you would do an excellent job covering a Johnny Cash song!! You sound amazingly good, and definitely have a great voice for his songs. Keep up the good work.

Go post it in the karaoke thread!

New song: Amazing Eyes

I kind of did this spontaneously. I already had the lyrics lying around from trying to do another song so I just changed them a bit and sung along to an instrumental from a royalty free music website. The lyrics are inspired from that feeling of hopelessness that creeps up onto you and the hope that you can get from the hopelessness, if that makes any sense.

Re: Winged Psychic's Mostly Covers

I've been meaning to check your stuff out since Bulba Idol. You've got a unique tone that could use some work, but with practice could be quite good. I love Amazing Eyes, its definitely the best piece of yours that I've listened to. That softness seems to work well with your voice.

Somebody needs to write you some instrumentals. I'd volunteer myself, but unfortunately our styles vary too greatly. Keep it up!

Re: Winged Psychic's Mostly Covers

@AetherX Thanks for your suggestions. I agree, having a song written for me would be pretty awesome.

New Video: Sam the Crow Episode 1: Sam's Mother Comes to Visit

Just something I did while I was goofing off with someone I know on windows live messenger by sending video messages. That's why each clip is around 30 seconds. I hope I didn't ruin anyone's image of what I looked like in their heads! Also, my ventriloquism isn't that great so yeah.

New Song: New World - Charice

Youtube blocked it so I put it up on 4shared. This is my cover of Charice's song New World which is featured in the game Final Fantasy XIII-2. At first I didn't like the song much but it grew on me especially after I heard Mai Fukui's version, that isn't to say that I didn't like Charice's voice of course. I think it's because of the 80's pop song feel of the instrumental in Charice's version that didn't make me like it at first. I practiced for roughly three days to smooth it out although I probably should have practiced a bit more. I'm still using a crappy computer microphone so most of that time was actually making sure I didn't blow out the mic, although there is a bit of that in this video anyway! I also blubbered the penultimate line but that is a secret.

I changed the lyrics a bit to make them have less instances of engrish and to make it flow better for me.

Here's something new: Gravity Love Girl (CN Blue X Sara Bareilles Mashup Cover)

Copy and pasting what I wrote on youtube because I'm lazy:
This is a cover I performed to show the similarities between the two songs, Gravity by Sara Bareilles and Love Girl by CN Blue. Now that I look at it the only parts that definitely fits is the first verse, although I managed to fit in all of the lyrics from Gravity.

At first I wanted to isolate Bareilles' vocals and use them instead of singing but I quickly realised that it was hard to get it to come out clean so I just sang it instead. Hope you don't mind! Also, please excuse my bad sounding korean, I was rushing that part.

So enjoy and tell me what you think. I really appreciate criticism.

Edit: My Bulbagarden Holiday Karaoke Contest Submission "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Originally performed by Judy Garland
Some subtle changes to reference the pokemon games with reference of "Red and Blue" and the change of the line "Make the Yule-tide gay" to "Play the yule-tide games."

Re: WingedP's Mostly Covers

I really like your voice! Like AetherX said, you have a unique tone; nice and deep, but distinguishable. Your Chinese singing is really cool, too; you don't sound awkward or anything. ^^

My only critique is sometimes you get a bit nasally, usually with higher notes. Other than that, your work rocks, and you should keep it up! :)

Re: WingedP's Mostly Covers

Thanks Blue Spirit!

New Video: Reflection - Christina Aguilera from the movie "Mulan"

My voice was starting to become a bit hoarse so I had to settle for this take. You can hear me cough in it. >.< I hope I did the song justice. When I was around 8 I memorised the lyrics and sung along whenever I watched the movie on VHS.

Re: WingedP's Mostly Covers

I got a new microphone! And to celebrate I tried to cover the song Still Alive from Portal.

I was thinking of going back and redoing the previous songs I had done with the new microphone.

Re: WingedP's Mostly Covers

Definitely an interesting take on Reflection... too bad I can hear you coughing. :( I hope your throat has been better lately! This song brings back memories for me too, I used to sing it all the time! Nice work!

I never heard "Still Alive" before, but I really liked it. It was very catchy. Your voice sounded better in this cover, as it was a lot softer.

Re: WingedP's Mostly Covers

I wrote another song! I Have You On My Mind

Unfortunately no backing track since I don't know how to play instruments. I tried to make it sound like a pop song and make it catchy.

The song Still Alive is from the game Portal where the main antagonist GladOS (A robotic AI) is singing over the ending credits, Paperhorse. Thanks for your feedback!

I really liked your cover of "Final Distance." I really felt the emotion in your voice. It was nice to listen to.

I learnt that I sing better when I have the correct posture and warm my voice up. Who knew?

I think that definitely helps! You can project your voice better with good posture. I learned this from teaching. xD

"Still Alive" from Portal
You're a bit under pitch in some places, which you can fix by making your vowels taller. This means you should make sure your mouth is more vertical than horizontal when singing (for example, when you sing a word like "alive," go for the "au" sound when singing the "i" instead of an "i-ey" sound). Otherwise, it was fun listening to. :)

"Haunted" by Taylor Swift
Love those low notes! Your pitch is better here. You're also improving your high notes; they're not as nasally as before.

"I'll Follow You into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie
This sounds beautiful! You sound very comfortable, and you're not singing nasally on those high notes. Plus, little to no pitch problems! Best I've heard from you.
