With the new GS games, will the anime bring Giovanni and TR back into the main focus?

As the Sinnoh saga is winding down I imagine we'll see the end of Team Galactic, which again frees up the anime with no villain team aside from Team Rocket.

Aside from two Butch/Cassidy eps, one in Battle Frontier and one in DP, there haven't been any Rocket focused episodes in a long time.

Do you think the writers will finally return attention to Giovanni and the rest of Team Rocket? Will Ash finally disband TR like you do in the games, and that never happened in the original Johto?

No, they want to keep the trio around for the entirety of the series, so Team Rocket can't disband and the plot will never be resolved.

To be honest, I don't see the reason why there should even be a "major threat" for the eventual HGSS arc. The Battle Frontier arc did just fine without one.

I think Giovanni has only appeared in the ep where Jessie captures Yanma/Yanmega...has he been in any other DP eps besides that and DP2?

I'll be curious to know this as well. Keep in mind, in the Gold/Silver storyline, TR has been disbanded for like 3 years since Red/Leaf stopped their plans. And in the anime this didn't happen.

So, it might not affect the anime's plot that much, but we'll see. I'm more interested in seeing if Ho-oh and its story are focused more upon.

If Team Rocket is to disband to match GSC's story this time around, we'd probably be seeing buildup around the time of the Sinnoh League (via a boss call or whatever.)

That said, I honestly can't see OH NOZ WHAR IS GIOVANNI being a plot for that arc. Since Pokemon is not known for huge story arcs other than the obvious Ash trains Pokemon/battles one, and something like that would be time consuming.


But I wouldn't object to a return for some old favorites, like Sebastian (quite possible) and Domino (MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS.) Though some new Rockets would be cool as well.

Giovanni wasn't even around in Gold/Silver. Why would he impact the anime?

Have they replaced Giovanni's Voice Actor yet? (in Japan) Because if they haven't they may not plan on giving him any more voice roles

Yes, the new guy voiced him in those two DP episodes Scott mentioned.

It is kinda interesting he doesn't remember who Musashi, Kojiro, and Nyasu are anymore. It's probably just a new running gag, but what if it's foreshadowing something?

I don't remember the exact dates that the red/green remakes came out, but did they affect the anime series in anyway? (like did they coincide with Ash and co. returning to Kanto for the battle frontier or was that earlier?)

If not, then I don't think these remakes will in a big way.

"Real" TR is practically noexistant in the anime at this moment.

So, don't expect it to be disbanded as in HGSS...

Game TR and Anime TR are really, really different. Their plot is different. Currently, the plot is noexistent. All we're getting is the trio in every episode.

And it'll stay this way. I can ensure you.

Could they still take over Radio Tower? Or was it too much related to the Red Gyarados, which happened in episodes that are kinda old already?

Radio Tower yes, but Red Gyarados? Highly doubt.

I hope Giovanni will be focused on Johto, though, to introduce his son Silver. :D

Who says Silver is Giovanni's son? Or was there something that said that. Did they do anything to the TR plot when Ash and co went back to Kanto? I expect things to be similar if they go back to Johto.

He talked about his red-haired son in one of the games. But games =/= anime.

Forshadowing what? It's only there because it makes Team Rocket even more pathetic (and by extent, even more hilarious). The fact that they're on a fool's errend makes it all the more silly that Team Rocket is wasting all their time and money in trying to bother this one trainer for practically his entire journey.

But yeah, I honestly doubt they'll do anything with Team Rocket anymore since the games have mostly shifted focus from them as the main antagonists. The Kanto Battle Frontier was supposed to be a retread into FR/LG while showing mostly content from Emerald. I would imagine that the eventual HGSS saga will be HGSS but with Platinum's Battle Frontier.

I'm hoping they DO do something with Giovanni and TR soon because when the end of the anime comes one day, I want Ash to perhaps battle against Giovanni/TR.

It would be nice for TR to get a bit of focus, but I can't see them being disbanded in GSDS Jouto, for the sole reason that the writers love the TRio and without the organisation, Musashi, Kojiro and Nyasu have no reason to follow Satoshi around anymore.

Giving Silver (uh... rival!Silver) a full appearance in the anime would be massively epic. I know people say he's too similar to Paul, but really, Silver's character has nothing to do with badges or tournaments or anything like that. Seeing him trying to take out Giovanni would be great. And maybe we could get some Paul/Silver interaction, heh.

Otherwise, not really much to be done. Although if the past tells us anything, anime + Johto + Team Rocket the organization = win. Mewtwo Returns, the Baby Lugia arc, the Red Gyarados two-parter, Dues and Don'ts...
