I have a diito with wonder guard and im having him breed with various other pokémon in hopes of getting a baby pkm with wonder guard.
But I haven't had any luck yet.
I already have like 2 PC boxes filled with baby pkm.
Can a pokémon other than ditto or shedninja even obtain this ability?

Dude, you can't breed abilities into Pokemon. Just moves and Natures.

A friend of mine told me two of his pokémon got wonder guard that way... =/

How did you get ditto to have wonder guard?

Btw, Zeta, you're 1/2 right. In breeding, the female pokemon passes on the ability, so you can pass on abilities, but when using a Ditto, the ditto can't pass on abilities.

I got the ditto from that friend in a trade.
He just told me only certain bug, dark, ground/grass and ghost pkm can learn this ability through breeding.
So im trying with my duskull now.

No matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can NEVER breed abilities to other Pokemon. End of story. The only Pokemon that has Wonder Guard is Shedinja. That's it.

Nope. That's completely false. I suggest you read the Bulbapedia next time.

Im just telling you what my friend said.
But im sure the ditto has wonder guard cause I have it now so...

First of all, bulbapedia didn't say a damn thing about passing on abilities. Second, YOU are wrong. I checked in the DP guidebook and it said the females pass on abilities. If the baby can learn the mom's ability, it WILL learn it. End of discussion. Maybe YOU should check first before you doubt the ultimate breeder.

EDIT-You cant pass on wonder guard since nothing can have it but shedinja.

If it has Wonder Guard, then it's hacked. Only Shedinja can have it.

What do you mean by traced?

Trace is an ability that temporarily copies your opponent's ability. It wears off after the battle though.

Hmm... Perhaps it's not in the Bulbapedia because it's not true? Also, guide books have been known to make mistakes.

Ultimate breeder? Lol. That's a load of crap. I bred 9 Togepis from a female Togetic that had Serene Grace. Only half of them had Serene Grace, the rest had Hustle.

Each Pokemon species only has 2 abilities AT THE MOST. And can't EVER have any others. You cannot have a Treecko with Torrent or a Ditto with Swarm, etc, etc.

....Um, duh? Babies are always going to be based on the mother's species (unless it's a Ditto), so OF COURSE the baby can learn the mother's ability. Under two conditions: there's a 50/50 chance of not learning the exact ability of the mother is a species with two abilities OR if the baby is classified as a 'baby' and will have a different ability than its evo (a la Tyrogue to any evo).

HOWEVER, females do not 'pass on' abilities like you think. The abilities babies learn are only WITHIN the parameters of its current species at birth, so a baby born of a Ditto+male pair will have the ability (or one of the abilities if the father species knows two at its youngest evolution) of the father, because that's the species the baby will be. ...No pokemon can be /born/ with Wonder Guard. Why? Only ONE learns it and its base stage cannot be born with it.

BTW, that Ditto's a hack.

As far as I know, it's true. I didn't believe it at first. I breeded 1/2 box full of marill from my two Azumarill. the mom had the thick fat ability, and the dad had huge power. When I checked them, EVERY SINGLE ONE had the thick fat ability. From what I've read and seen myself, its true, but you say its not. I'm not sure what to believe anymore.

Hello, Saint of Swords.

I'm going to be blunt - you have been absolutely had. Someone sharked that Ditto, whether it was your friend or someone who gave it to him. Ditto can NEVER have any ability besides Limber.

What you guys are confused about is the Everstone trick, added in Emerald. When a Ditto or a female Pokemon holds Everstone during breeding, the baby has a 50% chance of acquiring the Ditto or mother's nature (except in a few very rare circumstances, like when the parents are from different region games, i.e. Japanese Ditto with American Poliwag). Nature is like Adamant, Hardy, or Timid - it is a random description that affects the Pokemon's stats (and Poffin preferences), nothing more.

Doesn't mean you're right. You just got lucky. It is not true. It's purely random.

I know that, but I heard that if the baby could normally have the mom's ability, it would always have it. Oh well.

@pkmn493

Abilites are not passed on. End of story.

Actually, I'm wondering if it's even possible to have a Pokémon that has an ability other than what it should have (or, perhaps with some single-ability Pokémon, the ----- ability).

Perhaps you are getting abilities confused with natures. Maybe you should stop being an idiot.

Trust me, I've seen a lot of shit about people being the ultimate whatever the fuck they are - these are never true, and these idiots like you make false claims based on DP guidebooks but never actually try it themselves. Test this and try it yourself. Also, take out that AR or Gameshark from your port. Better yet, restart your game :)

Trace traces Wonder Guard.
