Big news on Marvel's next big event coming out of the New York Comic-Con. First off...the tie-in mini-series:

World War Hulk: X-Men. Click that link to see how the X-Men play into Hulk's return to Earth. Minor spoiler: Poor Professor X.

World War Hulk: Frontline. Paul Jenkins weaves the world into the main event yet again. Link reveals more. Minor spoiler: Manhattan isn't where you want to be.

One of them will follow an idea that I put out there that, with the Fifty States Initiative, no heroes are volunteering for duty in Rhode Island, so the Governor of Rhode Island holds open tryouts for superhero teams, and they decide to hire a musical team, which will now protect the state with song.

Coverage of the main event. Also in this link is a full list to all of the tie-ins (GHOST RIDER is getting a tie-in?). And the first look at some surprising Hulk allies. Expect this link to be updated later with detailed information.

Looks interesting. Though I'm a little shocked at the lack of Avengers tie-ins. But Gamma-Corps intrigues me.

EDIT:
More info. More in-depth. More better.

The Hulk sucks. Not only am I disappointed in seeing another crossover event a year after Civil War (which seemed completely incapable of meeting deadlines anyway) but one based around The Hulk? YAWN.

The Ultimate Universe had the right idea in dealing with the Hulk, designate him to a tertiary character and
'kill' him off
.

He's just not a very good character - certainly not one you can base an entire summer/winter/early next year following inevitable delays event around.

Why aren't you a Hulk fan? I'm not the biggest fan myself, but I think this could prove interesting. They've really made him interesting. He's got the brain of Banner, a grudge to bear, and he has the power to destroy the world. And friends who can help. I agree that an entire event based around him is a bit odd, but...I'm gonna see how it goes.

I just don't see any character to him. It's genuinely just "Hulk Smash" and then Hulk smashes. It's not like you can actually develop it either, because the farthest it goes is Banner's stalker-like obsession with Betty Ross.

He's just not really all that strong a character.. :/ At least Civil War was resting on the shoulders of Cap, Tony Stark and Spider Man for the majority of it (and Reed Richards being the biggest dick he's been in about 50 years - which is an impressive acheivement for the sexist, workaholic pig), but basing an entire half a year's worth of comics based on the Hulk coming back from space is... lame.

Not that I've had the chance to read the end of Civil War yet, but from what I've read (up to Civil War 4 and all the tie-ins until then), the more interesting subject would be the how the three main characters of Civil War try to continue their lives.

You've completely missed some of the really good stuff, if you think that's all it is. There are a TON of stories about Banner dealing with his own inner demons that are usually quite good. The whole basic premise behind the Hulk is man's inner demons taking over (in a very physical sense) and him being forced to come to grips with them, and trying to seek control.

You had to read the last issue of Fantastic Four to really understand why Reed did what he did.

Look for that in the Initiative. As Tony becomes the new Wolverine (i.e., he's EVERYWHERE).

I gotta say that the Hulk's character is becoming a bit tired myself. He's one note. You play him as a villain, it's just tons of heroes coming together to stop him in a typical drag-out fight. You play him as a hero - but his villains suck. He's a great concept, but I haven't seen anything good done with him in years.

The best Hulk stories ARE the ones that play up the Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde similarities - IE, asking who's really responsible for the destruction the Hulk causes - is it its own seperate entity or a part of Banner. Etc. etc. But again, there's only so much you can do with that before it gets to being month after month of Banner getting pissed off and having super duper temper tantrums.

Hence Planet Hulk. I haven't read it, but I've yet to hear a single complaint about it. From non-Hulk fans and old Hulk fans alike. Bringing him back to Earth gives him a new motivation for destruction. Now it's not "Hulk smash" because it's there to smash, he's now going to be smashing for a reason. Throw in the continued tensions between the US and the Inhumans (Black Bolt seemed against Hulk's...journey) and the Atlanteans and the US (Namor was against Hulk being sent to space) and you've really gotta wonder if these three huge forces are going to come to a head (though Namor's anger towards America might have worn off post-Wolverine's Civil War crossover and his recent Civil War appearance).

I've gotta say the best thing for the Hulk right now would be new, decent villains to fight. I'm not saying all heroes are based around a good Rogue's Gallery, but a poor Rogue's Gallery can bring down a hero. The exception to this is Superman, who manages to remain popular with only Brainiac, Luthor, and sundry losers.

That's kinda the problem with Hulk though... the best villain in the Hulk series is... well, the Hulk.

Mind you, aside from Spider-man and the X-men, I've never really found much love for the majority of Marvel's villains. Even Doom is just a bit too silly to really take seriously.

I have to agree there. Aside from Abomination, most of his classic villains are random or over-the-top. The Leader's fine, but not even the other super-geniuses take him seriously.

The most interesting character is the Hulk. As it should be. The thing is that he's SO interesting (to me, at least) that you don't, necessarily, NEED villains. Of all of the back issues I've got, I've always preferred the ones where he ISN'T fighting villains. Or other heroes.

It's all about whose writing your exposed to with each villain. In my mind, there's no such thing as a bad villain, just bad writing. Same applies to heroes. Usually. There are certain exceptions in both categories.

Apparently each person who banished Hulk now owns an Infinity Gem.

The Hulk really shouldn't be able to touch them at all.

Gotta realize WHO has which Gem. And that Namor, at the very least, will side with Hulk.

Scroll down. Middle of the last paragraph of the synopsis IDs who has which gem. For anyone who wants to know and doesn't already. Sorry, I gotta plug my own work.
