Worrying about the dub......

What do you think will happen? Which channel do you think Pokemon will end up on?

What in the world is going on here!?

It makes no sense whatsoever!

Okay, I don't know how to say this.

But, I am very worried about the dub version of Pokemon.

It just seems like everything we've been hearing about it is bad news. Does anyone else feel this way?

First, we find out that apparently, the new VAs are indeed staying for season 9 (at the least, after that no one knows).

Then, we find out that even though Pokemon is still being dubbed, it may not even have a channel to air on! According to the latest news article, Kids WB wants to air Warner Bros. Animation, and they won't be airing Pokemon anymore!

And personally, my thoughts on this are that, since Cartoon Network already took Master Quest off the air, I don't believe they would actually get Pokemon again, unless it'll help their ratings or something. But, if for some reason Cartoon Network doesn't get Pokemon, who would pick Pokemon up? Which channel?

So, anyway, the more bad news I hear about the dub, it just makes me even more worried.

It makes me ask myself, "Would they go so far as to cancel the Pokemon dub version in the U.S.?" I sure hope they wouldn't.

Oh, and I could just be thinking this because of everything that's been happening lately. But, still, it does seem like the dub's been having a lot of problems in general. And problems aren't good at all.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Opinions?

Didn't CN remove Pokemon because KidsWB was jealous of them getting higher rating. But since it is off KidsWB, CN might take it.

Yeah, that's true.

Now that Pokemon is off KidsWB (or will be soon), Cartoon Network might be inclined to take it......

And I don't know why, I guess I just tend to worry about these things very easily for some reason (especially when bad things relating to Pokemon come up, I tend to worry about them non-stop). ^^o

I say CN, since I have Cable TV and probally most Pokémon Fans either have Cable TV or Satellite. It's mostlikely to happen, but who knows.

I highly doubt that Fox Box / 4Kids TV is going to think about taking it, considering they left it behind before.

The thing is, if Cartoon Network doesn't take it, who will?

Oh, holycrap, I just thought of... Nickelodeon. Son of a bitch.

I wonder, if it takes them a good while to find a new network for Pokemon or something, could this somehow delay season 9 a bit?

If so, then this might be a good thing for SOVA, because it will give us more time to change Pokemon USA's minds about the VAs and help get the current VAs back. ^^

CN would make sense, but the people in charge of acquisitions has hardly made sense lately. I don't expect the people who are airing Saved by the Bell on Adult Swim, rerunning The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Ed, Edd, and Eddy a million times a day, decided that Wulin Warriors would be a good show for Toonami, and cancelled Teen Titans to make a logical decision.

They didn't "leave it behind"; 4Kids was simply obliged to stick to the contracts they signed with Kids' WB! years before. They couldn't move the show to their network until those contracts ran out, so they didn't even have the option to air it on their network.

o_O

That's not unlikely at all. Especially since 4Kids already has a show on there (Kappa Mikey).

Hmm, well I'm guessing that this FoxBox is 4kids.tv
I haven't seen foxbox for 2 years unless, it's still called that
under lisencing and such.

Well because the 'foxbox' is 4kids dominated then I wouldn't understand
why PUSA would ask the company they just severed the anime from
to host it on 4kids programming block. So that should be a -no- for where
pokemon should air.

They do have a host of other stations such as ABC and CBS as they still
have developing Saturday morning blocks.

But all this canceling and moving around is making my brain hurt.

Why do stations have to make changes all at once?
Case and point, I don't even know what radio program is which anymore
because they've switched around about a half dozen stations around here,
what more with TV later this year.

Well, looks like Eric Stuart was right when he said, "Good luck trying to find Pokemon on ANY network this fall."

Funny how things turn out, huh?

Sorry, I phrased it wrong. Not that 4Kids wanted to switch it to their own block of programming, that they didn't renew the contract and now Pokemon USA has it.

I've never heard of that show. Interesting. Well, if Nickelodeon's already got one show, another may not be far behind. I just think that Nickelodeon went down the tubes in the mid-90s... maybe they're getting better (they have Avatar, which isn't bad), but I still associate it with poor animation nowadays.

From what I gathered, PUSA sort of swooped in and took the license from 4Kids. It doesnt' seem to be a case of 4Kids being lazy and not picking up the license.

So what did Pokemon USA get the license for? To dub a show that's been cancelled?

If no network picks the show up, it's limited to a DVD only release, if they decide to continue the show at all.

It's really a sad day for the show outside of Japan, and to leave us off in the middle of an arc (which was shaping up to be one of the best arcs in the series) is extremely frustrating.

Like I said - doesn't Cartoon Network already HAVE the rights to the latest eps of the dub anyway?

Besides, there are worse things than DVD only releases - especially if they're taken out of Viz's hands as well and released properly.

Apparently, CN only has the rights to the show for as long as Kids' WB! does. So CN would have to spend money to air the new PUSA-dubbed season.

I don't see that happening.

I haven't been there yet, but I can just imagine the uproar this news is causing over at SPP...

*sighs* Oh Pokemon, my favorite show, what is happening to you?

I pray that if Cartoon Network doesn't get Pokemon, some channel out there will.

I mean, I don't want to see my favorite anime - and favorite show in general - get canceled. It would be really sad if they had to cancel it just because none of the stations wanted it or couldn't get it. :-(

Ya never know, if CN or other stations don't get it, it could go to CBS. CBS does air a lot of other shows from other channels as well, like Nickelodeon and such.

It would be better if Pokemon stayed on basic channels anyway, seeing not everyone has cable who watches Pokemon.

It won't be on Fox since that's just like WBs like saturday morning opponent now. I'd place a higher bet on Jetix but not likely. Probably it'll just go back to CN but then only stopped at the end of Johto so they may have to go all the way through AG
