I was just wonderig what people thought the worst English Pokemon song ever was. I thought nothing could be worse than "Soda Pop" from TFM-until I heard "Hoenn Pokerap" on Pokemon X.
 
"Soda Pop," by a mile is the worst song ever to be associated with Pokémon. People complain about "Brother My Brother," but that song has nothing on "Soda Pop." I would love to know how this was "from and inspired by" Pokémon. The only reference in the song that comes close to Pokémon is one line that says "fire and ice."
 
I love "Diamond And Pearl", it's awesome!

And yeah what's with Britney Spears and N*Sync that was just horrible. Sigh at least Pokemon was in it's hay day then. I don't think any big stars would let Pokemon use their songs now.

Anyway, Pokemon needs a new album. With GOOD music that actually suits Pokemon.
 
"Brother My Brother" and the opening to Pokemon Chronicles immediately spring to mind. The former for how out-of-place it was, and the latter for how it's not even a proper song.
 
I went with Soda Pop. But. There's so many. Yet there's quite a few I like, if not for nostalgia (yes I'm that weak, so sue me, those were damn good days when I was little).

Polkamon...a lot of the Christmas Bash songs (though some were just hilarious or cute in a messed up way)...Do Ya Really Wanna Play?...just so many of the first couple of CDs. There were a few good ones, ones relating or not relating (which is a wtf? thing, but still), but a lot are awful, I admit.

Oh yeah. DP Rap is one of the worst things they've churned out.
 
Oh come on, DP Rap is awesome. I mean you have a rival, that you fight for survival. Nothing can stop you, DIAMOND AND PEARL!

Brother my Brother is tops. That crappy antiwar propaganda in the first movie was total trash, and that song made it worse.

Chronicles opening was meh, favorite part was AND YOUR GALOSHES TOO! But the other Chronicles was just the Johto Pokerap, how cheap is that?
 
I get the distinct impression that the first movie soundtrack was thrown together at the last minute (many of the songs were b-sides or became b-sides for the artists involved). I tend to refer to this as "re-purposing" music-taking music from an outside source and slapping it into an unrelated context (something I've done many times with a certain 80's rock group).

Polkamon is kinda a "love it or hate it" type of deal (I've seen it ranked very high and very low on the station). A lot of it also depends on how much you value faithfulness to the original Japanese version.

I was recently listening to that song (ugh) and remarked how almost completely devoid of any meaning it is.

Personally, I love "Brother My Brother". I had the good fortune to meet BUoS in 2005 when they did a concert at my college (you can find the interview on YouTube).
 
I'd like the Hoenn Pokerap if the lyrics were better and there was a vocalist who could actually pronounce the names right. Kee-oh-gree!
 
I don't know if this is the worst, but 4Kids completely butchered Rocket Dan yo Eien ni.
 
The worst English song is definitely the Hoenn Pokerap! X_X

Both the original Pokerap and the Johto rap were great (in my opinion). It's a shame they couldn't have made the Hoenn rap done by the Johto singers or something....

About the second-worst song, I'd have to go with "Soda Pop" or that other song that Britney Spears did on The First Movie soundtrack. Not only were they unrelated to Pokemon, they just sounded bad overall.


As for the D/P rap, I don't think it's that bad. I mean, it's bad, but not nearly as bad as those other songs. Oh well, it's the opening of D/P and I'm used to the rap theme, so it doesn't bother me much now. But I still think it sucks, because it's a bad song that tries to be a good rap song and fails. >_<
 
Polkamon, English version of Polka O Dolka and DP Rap are Pokémon songs I really hate so much that I can't stand it to hear.

I didn't want to start flamewar here, but I must say that it's impossible such thing like good rap song can ever possibly exist. To be honest with you, rap is on my personal list of worse humans inventions;-)
 
Rap can be very good. The "rap" that anime dubbers create, though, never is.

Besides, the DP "rap" isn't really a rap song anyway. It's more rock than anything else.

Don't you think Digimon English Opening for seasons 1, 2 and 3? That were Rap-like song. Hey Digimon were more Country-like song. It even were not close to rap.
