Would a PMD game where the human gets turned into a mythical be cool?

It'd depend on a lot of things-how strong the player was compared to enemies, what the plot was like, and so on. There's lots of potential, but potential alone doesn't make a game.
 
Short answer: no. Part of the appeal of PMD is that you have a choice of what Pokemon to play as (either by quiz, or direct selection).

This being said, whether it would actually work in execution really depends ON that execution. PMD games are remembered for having great stories (well, most of them) in addition to being Pokemon-flavored roguelikes.
 
ehh, cool yes. definitely interesting. but seems both unlikely and hard to balance.

Then again... there are enough legendary, mythical, and pseudo-legendary Pokemon that you could have a nice selection of potentially challenging boss battles.

oh don't worry they would still be weak in the beginning

I suppose it could work.

I wouldn't mind playing as maybe a Celebi or Jirachi.
 
could work, but do we need it? and would it be really that good?
I have noticed by the growing amount of pokemon games lately, they dont focus enough on the basis and main games.

Maybe if more legendaries went the Cosmog route, I could see that ... who do I have to KO for a baby Raikou?

Mythical pokemon are just poorly implemented DLC for Pokemon in my opinion so no, not really. They're basically just status symbols of "look, I was able to get/knew about the release you could only get by going to [store name] during [time period]!" Game freak would never just let you BE one of their precious limited-access-content babies.

Plus in-universe it'd be weird because everywhere you'd go pokemon would be like "HOLY FEK LOOK ITS A [WOMBLE] OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??"

Unless of course its Phione... the scrappydoo of Mythicals. The Pluto of Mythicals, if you will.

All mythical pokemon are the same, my child. From Jirachi to... whatever the heck the last two are called. The shadowy womble and the yellow womble that still kind of only semi-exists.

Except for Deoxys for he has broken free of his Mythical chains and found his way into OR/AS via meteor instead of via the usual limited time code/location. Deoxys has done what even Pokegod Arceus has failed. ALL HAIL DEOXYS MAY HE LEAD THE OTHERS ON THE PATH TO BEING REAL GAME POKEMON.

Probably because Jirachi has been part of Ampharos's guild for some time, so everyone else has gotten over the initial surprise factor and acclimated to him by now.
 
I'd play regardless, but like someone has already mentioned, part of the appeal is playing as a standard Pokémon. Having a mythical would probably lead to interesting developments, however, so I don't really have a solid opinion on this.
