Would the anime have been better if it followed the direction of the games?

Instead of having a tournament as the league, making legendary pokemon impossible to catch or better yet having Ash as the main protagonist do you think the show should've followed the tone of the games or at least have been similar to the Pokemon Adventures manga?

If it were a 26 episode at a time anime with seasonal breaks, tighter writing, the games makers and prodcuers working more closely (and Legendaries not being used up/wasted on movies), maybe.

But as it stands now, with an episode airing week after week after week after week (after week), each pokemon getting the spotlight whether it deserves it or not and the ever bizarre pacing, I'm not very sure if it would work.

It's apples and oranges, really.

Following the footsteps of Pokemon Adventures Manga will be cool, but there is violence and some other things like gambling in the Manga, which does not meet the aim of the Anime as the Anime is for kids.

I true loved the Manga and the way of the story is told. I am quite a big fan to Red, Yellow, Silver and Gold :)

I've always been interested to see a more game-oriented version of the Anime, but not as the main series. A spin-off show where the protagonist was the current generation's player character and story followed semi-closely to the plot of the game would be pretty cool, in my opinion.

That would have to depend on exactly how much *more* influence the games would have on the show, and it should be kept in mind that the anime already *is* rather heavily influenced by the games as it is now. Things like Team Plasma's pre-Castellia appearances(to say nothing of their upper echelons and N!), Cheren, and the main protagonists having access/usage of the in-game equipment like we do would all be good things to have if handled properly.

I would hate for the current anime (the one with Ash and company) to follow the same plot as the games. The current world and characters simply aren't suited for it. Plus, the anime universe is the best in my opinion...it's the most "realistic" and "practical" of all the 'verses (yes, even the pokemon special manga...I don't like the inclusion of actual levels or the "gotta catch'em all" logic).

Maybe a completely separate series aimed at a completely separate demographic with a completely different style. IDK if it'll be "better" than the current anime, but it certainly would be interesting how they would handle that.

I think that it's silly to say that Pokemon isn't expanding its age range...more and more older folk are getting the games so I think it would be nice of them to cater to that section, if just a little more...

Some changes would need to be made or cut for the anime, but as long as it strictly follows the game mechanics, then everything's A-ok. Abandoning the idea of stats and movepools pretty much ruins part of the point of advertising the original games. It's why kids give their Pokemon moves that they can't use effectively such as a Gyarados with Ice Beam.
