Like Ash would have a dream that Pikachu evolved into Raichu. But "What if" episodes would be big filler.
 
What if... Ash and Paul ended up switching Pokemon teams for the day?

What if... We had a Gym Leader tournament?

What if... the gang was able to command a legendary Pokemon in battle?

What if... we had a training arc dedicated solely to teaching attacks for multiple Pokemon?

What if... Giovanni took a trip to Sinnoh?
 
What if............Ash got to be part of the Elite Four for a day

What if............Chimecho returned to James's team
 
What if.......Ash was reunited with Butterfree & his family.

What if.......A younger Jenny/Joy having a crush on Ash.

What if.......Ash & the gang meets Officer Joy & Nurse Jenny.

What if.......Ash & Cynthia teams up against two members of the Elite Four.

What if.......Misty makes a surprise return by entering in a Coordinator's competition which Dawn is also apart of.

What if.......Ash catches a legendary pokemon.

What if.......Delia reveals that she used to be a pokemon trainer & battles Ash.

What if.......Pikachu became human for a day.

What if.......Ash becomes a Frontier Brain/Gym Leader for a week.

What if... Ash managed to get Squirtle when he started his journey.

What if... Charizard obeyed him in the match against Richie

What if... by some super-hyper-duper chance he had faced Paul in the Indigo League (that's Paul's first league, right?)

And...
What if... their rivalary spanned all the regions 'til now.
 
What if...Ahs became like Paul for a week
What if...Ash challenged the real pokemon master, the person who is considered best of the best?

What if...Dawns piplup evolved into an emploeon?

What if...Gary turned back to his old trainer ways and faced Paul?

What if...the TR Trio gave up chasing the gang for their pokemon and just caught a pikachu in wild and gave it to the boss?

What if...TR Trio actually got in good with Giovanni and Meowths dream of him rewarding them for something they did, came true?

What if...Brock actually got a girlfriend without any crogaunking or ear pulling etc...

What if...Ash reunited with his older Kanto, Johto and even Hoenn pokemon and some disobayed because they were Oak'd for far to long and Ash never seen or used them much?

What if Ash after the Sinnoh League, Ash went for the sweep...Went Back to Kanto and too his six best pokemon and challenged the E4 there and after went to other regions and did same until he beat all champions in regions he has been in? Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh. Did Johto have an E4, if not, scratch that.
 
What If... was Part of Team Rocket/Galactic?(Id prefer Galactic cause their way cooler)

What if Ash and Dawn got married and had kids. A boy and a girl, one interested in contests, the other interested in battles.

What if... nobody could stop the expansion of Molly's imaginary world after the Unown lost control?

What if... Ash decided to work on his Aura powers in addition to Pokémon Training?

What if... May didn't decide to travel by herself and the AG group stayed together?

What if... Kurt opened the GS Ball while Ash and co. were in Azelea Town?

What if... Ash had decided to quit early on? (I always assumed he would have had it not been for Misty and Brock tagging along. He can travel alone now, but in the beginning?)

What if... Cyrus really created his own universe? (I almost wrote a fic on this once, but it sucked. :p Surely someone else has?)

What if... Paul's gym battle against the Cerulean sensational sisters.

What if... episode to explain Professor Birch and Brendan.

What if... The episode where Piplup meets a Raikou.

What if... Ash got a Clefairy instead of a Pikachu.
 
What if.......Ash died and did not come back.

What if.......Dawn had a sister.

What if.......Ash leaves the group and Brock became the star.

What if.......Ash actually grows up and get his freaking license and actually drives to his destinations to waste less time so there would be less fillers.

What if.......Ash's dad was actually following him the whole time.
