I know many people found LGPE to be underwhelming titles, and they're not amazing but I personally like them well enough for what they are. I'm curious how many people would be interested in a follow up, as well as what you think that would look like. I think, with the addition of some QOL improvements and new ideas from recent games, a Let's Go: Johto or whatever could be really fun.
Though I wonder what could be the faces and title of a new Let's Go. The boring answer would just be Pikachu and Eevee 2, I guess. Or you could ditch multiple version and just have "Let's Go: Crystal" or Let's Go: Johto" and allow players to pick from the normal gen 2 starters. They've been getting a lot of attention lately, anyway. But if you want to stick with pairs, I have a few proposals:
  • Least likely first, Elekid and Magby. Baby Pokemon feel iconic to gen 2 to me, and they feel like the most solid counterparts of the bunch. It would give a bit of attention to some overlooked Pokemon as well. Tyrogue and Smoochum could also fit I guess, but... I don't want to look at Smoochum for an entire game, man.
  • Continuing from the Baby Pokemon idea, Pichu and either Igglybuff or Togepi. On the one hand, Jigglypuff is another Pokemon with secondary mascot status like Eevee, even if it hasn't gotten as much in recent years. On the other hand, Togepi seems more of a fan favorite to me, although I could be wrong.
  • I guess you also do Pikachu and Jigglypuff but it would be weird to have one mascot reappear and not the other. What would you even call the Pikachu version? Pika2? And then just plain Jigglypuff?
  • WAIT Marill and Jigglypuff. That could work.
  • This one is pure copium but Let's Go: Celebi, perhaps? Idk I just like Celebi a lot and wish there were more ways to legitimately obtain one (imagine if it wasn't shiny locked either!!!). But I doubt they would want to do something like that with a mythical. You could have a lot of fun with the story of this one though.
  • This is probably the most realistic, Umbreon and Espeon. Either they're evolved from the start or you get an Eevee that exclusively evolves into the one matching your version. Maybe there's a story cutscene where it's set to evolve and the version affects whether the scene is at day or night. They're definitely very iconic Johto mons in addition to being fan favorites, even compared to other Eeveelutions, so very plausible.
  • Wooper.

I go with Johto for all this just because it seems like the logical follow up to PE being Yellow remakes, but if you have any other particular regions/games you think would work well in the format, I'd love to hear that too! This would just get very long if I speculated on every single region, haha.

Hell no. Let's Go deserves to be confined to the dustbin of history. The philosophy behind those games is not one that's a particularly good one for Pokemon, especially not Pokemon on hybrid consoles like the Switch/Switch 2. Intentionally simplifying the game to bring in mobile gamers... yeah that's not a winning strategy that meshes with the entire point of the home console side of a hybrid (to create a game that's deep and engaging that you can play for long periods of time). And everything LGPE's done right has been adopted into better games, often times even better than what LGPE did (overworld encounters are standard now and even SwSh had half-and-half, the Legends games have a far better implementation of catching Pokemon without battling, SV had a far more robust co-op system). No need to bring this game back and all of its controversies, just let it die.

I’m admittedly also not the most enthusiastic about the idea of them returning to the Let’s Go format, but I won’t lie: I love how many different Pokémon you could ride with unique riding animations in those games. That’s something I’d like to see them bring back again and if they’re not gonna do it in the mainline games… welll….. Whatever needs to happen LOL

As for your version suggestions, I’m quite partial to Marill and Jigglypuff, I think those are cute first starter choices!

I liked the Let's Go. I had the Eevee version and it was nice. I absolutely love how the skill trainers are like "umm... This Eevee wants to learn a human driving skill? Interesting little fella, come I will teach you this". It showed how nice the majority of the society is. The only thing annoyed me a bit was the museum, they took money and the exhibition was just like that? I mean... even the british museum only asks for some "donations", and they offered THAT. And you are offering THIS and making money?

Misdreavus seems to have a strong fanbase too.
Furrets are very popular among the grew up players, personally I prefer Sentrets more.
And don't forget Worbbuffet.
What about this? Let's Go Wrobbuffet and Let's Go Meowth.

I’m not sure if I’d necessarily want a full on Let’s Go game, but I’d want to take the elements that Let’s Go did right and implement into other remakes. Imagine if BDSP used Let’s Go as a base with its…

- better graphics, arguably the best Pokemon has looked on Switch

- wider tileset, so you could move around without bumping into stuff, and

- wild Pokemon in the overworld for a more immersive experience (with traditional wild battles instead of Go mechanics of course)

I think a lot of people would have been more sympathetic to games like that, and revisiting Johto, Hoenn, etc. in that way would be fantastic imo.

I played Let’s Go Pikachu for nostalgia, but I don’t want more let’s go games. If we return to any region I want a proper remake that expands the region or a game that continues the story in a creative way. The only thing they should take from those games are the different pokemon you could ride on.

I would be fine without another though I would be interested if future Let's Go games were to have the mascots be fully evolved Pokémon similar to how most mainline Pokémon games starting from Gen 2 had box-art legendaries.

Like I could see Let's Go Togekiss and Ursaluna working, especially since you could have your partner Pokemon evolve at certain points in the story like during the Team Rocket base in Mahogony Town or the Red Gyarados fight beforehand.

Maybe a classic mode could also suffice.

So my ideas for "Let's Go to Johto" revolve around it being a single game actually; it's worked for the two Legends games so why not? As far as the partner Pokemon (i.e. the one who replaces the HMs) goes, I could actually see it not being the starter this time. Consider this: Professor Elm sends you to Mr. Pokemon with either Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile, just like the original games.

Either when you get to Mr. Pokemon's house or back to Elm's lab, the Egg hatches revealing Partner Togepi! Partner Togepi fulfills the same role as Pikachu or Eevee in the last game, also having significantly higher base stats than regular Togepi as a reference to the super-strong one in the manga. But it too, cannot evolve and travels with you in a pouch or on your back or something. You can also customize its shell along with giving it accessories :)

My point is, I'm not sure the partner Pokemon has to be your very first one or that there need to be two of them for two versions. Let's mix it up a bit.
