The title is pretty explanatory. Your thoughts and opinions regarding a side-quest for Pokemon Sun and Moon? Do you not prefer one? Why or why not? If yes, what would you like to see? Or something entirely new?
 
I want contests to come back. They could have their own extra storylines, and it's fun to see gym leaders and other NPCs participate. Also, I like making a new team with different move sets just for contests because it's good to get out of battling once in a while and I don't have to spam the stylus on the screen like I did with Pokethalon.
 
I'd like Contests to come back if they kept the no-frills approach of Gen III. Gen IV and even ORAS added a ton of pretense and complication to Contests that never needed to be there.
 
I'm happy for any extra game content beyond battling. The entire game is already about battling let me do something special with my pokemon. Contests, Pokeathlon.. anything that's a creative use of pokemon beyond "GO! KNOCK OUT ANOTHER POKEMON! AGAIN!"
 
I want Contests back so badly. I liked the upgrades they made with OR/AS. They still weren't perfect, but they were a fun little sidequest and I did like that I could actually get more ribbons than in the original games. Maybe throwing in some new features or aspect to Contests in Sun/Moon would work to make them stand out more. I also want to see another Coordinator in the main cast of the next series.

Pokeathlon would be pretty fun and I did enjoy it in HG/SS, but I don't know if I'd take it over Contests. I'd be happy with them including it, but I wouldn't be actively rooting for it either. I also wouldn't mind something new provided that it could be fun in the games and be adapted into a goal for the new female lead, but since Contests have already been established, I'd rather see them going back to something that works relatively well in this case.
 
I'm all for contests or something like Pokestar Studios again....maybe both. Like contests for pokemon and something like Pokestar for the trainer. I didn't care much for Pokeathlon and the musicals got redundant after a while. But I admit they were both fun before the "wow! this is new and awesome!" feeling wore off.

Then again, it would be interesting to see what they do if they plan on doing something new for the optional side game. Though I kind of don't know what they'd go for since they did beauty contests/dog shows, CGI movies, sports festivals, and stupid pokemon tricks. What else is there that they can base a contest on? Actual pokemon racing?
 
PokeStar Studios, hands down. You got to build a fanbase and become popular, have more job opportunities, become a hit or make box office bombs. It really felt like you were becoming a real celebrity, it was great. And with the way it's set up, you could easily replicate it in another region and include a whole new set of movies to work with. Plus the stories were freaking hilarious, and you got to make your Pokemon become stars.

I didn't like Contests that much; I think they perfected the model Super Contests. But if we get something like them again, I'd at least hope we got ribbons each time we beat a level for the first time.

I'm up for something new, but I want it to feel like you're slowly becoming more and more famous. The showbizz life is my jam.
 
I really hope it's going to be something new, but if I have to choose one of the old features it would be Pokeathlon, I had so much fun with that. I guess mostly because it was an active minigame, while with contests you have to wait a lot and I personally find that really annoying.
 
I think ORAS Contest Spectacaulars are by far the best sidequest in the series, since they combine battling elements and strategy, and are just a cooler concept, imo.

However, I voted for something brand new in SM. I don't like when new regions copy things from other regions, because I like Game Freak's policy of region exclusiveness.
 
I never particularly cared for Contests in any form, I never played the Pokéathlon (but it is probably too demanding for the games at this point anyway), and while I loved the Musicals and PokéStar Studios, I can't really see them copy/pasting old side-attractions into new games. In this regard, I suspect that DP were an oddity. DP lifted a fair amount of things from RSE, and this is also a significant problem that I see with potential DP remakes, but that's a topic for another thread.

"Something new" is most likely, I think.

I thought I was the only one who loved the Musicals. They were fun. And it was a blast to dress up my poor Golurk as a rock star or stick cute, fluffy white wings on "him". If you think that was bad, you should have seen how I paraded around my shiny Golett horde. (Yeah, I was kind of evil in that regard.)

While I'd like to see all of these come back in some way, shape or form I'm going with the idea that we'll get something new this Gen. I just hope that whatever it is, it offers Ribbons. I'm a just stickler for Ribbons in sidequests and mini-games in general.
 
It's a new generation, so if there is something, I think it'll be something new.

I'm not that bothered really, so I'm happy to wait and see what turns up.
 
PokeMaster chef has to happen. It could tie into the restaurant/food court system, with you going from cook of the first one to all four. As you progress you start to unlock rematches after the league for gym leaders and elite 4 as you get custom order battles from trainers. Imagine if the Champipn comes in and orders the triple battle special or the Inverse Set Menu, it would be craaaay. And it wouldn't have to be a cooking mama clone you could have this open kitchen were style is the key which is how you get promoted. Like using the Pokemon to slice the vegetables and meats in the air, grillibg meats/fish would require some sort if balancing act between a couple of firemons and so on so forth..
Otherwise bring back the Pokeathlon, that was legit good. Much more depth then contests, and the skill needed for the later medal challenges was surprisingly high.
 
I want something new. I don't like contests and musicals. Have something new that is worth doing and gives us a good award.
 
I wouldn't mind going back to Contests if they had an online mode for them. Seriously, a Contest meta game alone would be enough for some people to buy SM. They had a perfect opportunity to do this in ORAS, but they were limited to local wireless only.

Most likely though, seeing as they didn't have a regional side quest thing for Kalos in XY and the fact that Masuda seems to be cutting out things that expand the playtime since he believes we wouldn't appreciate something so time-investing, I'd be surprised if we had something like that this generation.

If we do get something new, I'd like some sort of talent show thing that takes advantage of reaction times and allowing free movement with your chosen Pokemon.
 
I voted for Showcases since I actually adore them and would love to see them in the games. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they were created for the XY anime and are female exclusive, chances are that'll never happen :(

As for something that's possible as much as I loved ORAS's Contest Spectacular's and would love to see them again, 2 regions with contests is enough for me. I truly hope for something new though, I don't know what it could be. Though honestly, regardless of if it's something sporty like Pokeatholon, making movies, contests or something similar, etc, I just want SOMETHING else to do aside from just battle battle battle over and over. That gets really boring really quickly. I want my Pokemon to be more than just fighting machines. I'll be seriously disappointed if Sun and Moon follows the route of XY and doesn't include some sort of side quest.
 
I want contests so they return to the anime. Otherwise something totally new and different would be cool too, its always fun to have something extra to do, and it doesn't hurt the people who don't want it if its optional
