Wow, I can't believe there isn't a huge topic about Pikachu's gender being confirmed.

In "Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!" Snivy uses attract on Pikachu, which as you know causes Pokemon of the opposite gender to become infatuated with the user. We know that Snivy is female, and the attack clearly worked on Pikachu, so we can now know for sure that Pikachu is MALE.

I've been out of the loop for a while, but I remember this being a hotly debated issue back in the day. Was Pikachu's gender confirmed before this episode or something and I just didn't see it? Because I thought there'd be at least one multi-page topic about it...

Yes, it was confirmed before this episode, way back in DP, an episode called

Where No Togepi Has Gone Before and it was finally confirmed Ash's Pikachu was male in the Japanese version.

So, yes, you didn't see it.
