I'm pretty pissed at Nintendo right now.
I live in Canada. We get absolutely nothing in terms of events, ever yet many other countries (EU and AUS for example.) are getting events over Wi-Fi, while we...just a bit north of the US have never really gotten anything.

Maybe I'm just being a cry baby but why the hell aren't we getting any events? It can't be that hard to send a DS cart up north or hell, do some Wi-Fi events. I know we got Shaymin but that's all I can think of right now.

Seriously, the hell.

Well, yell at the stores. From what I hear the offers are made but they don't agree.

Also, the rest of north america isn't getting wifi so yeah.

I'm on board with any plan to bring our complaints to the stores. There are 2 Gamestops within 5 minutes of me, and the way Canada gets ignored with these events never fails to irritate the heck of out me (although I can get the events, anyway). It was even more annoying when TRU in Canada actually did do the Secret Key, because it was the most pointless event they ever could've held... the same Wonder Card was given out over Wi-Fi the very next day.

The Pokemon Company has indeed said that they offer the events to Canadian retailers, and they choose not to do it. If Gamestop gets enough e-mails from Pokemon fans to the corporate level, it may at least make them reconsider their policies. There are several phone numbers and e-mails listed here:

... for anyone interested in complaining to Gamestop. I'd suggest either the "store issues" or "other issues" categories.

Personally I think some us Canadian Pokemon fans in various provinces should arrange our own unofficial event distributions at the same time they occur in the US. Canadians have been left out in the cold for too long.

I know we got Shaymin but that's all I can think of right now.

We also got Darkrai and the Rotom Key. And we're very likely to get Arceus as well.

Haven't there been a few events dispersed here and there in English-speaking provinces? Because as long as I've lived here, there has never, EVER been a single thing resembling an event distribution in Québec. Yes, I agree it's annoying. Yes, it's stupid, but what can we do?

Technically we may've, however that was merely due to the fact that we share the exact same version of the games that the US gets, and when our copies go online to whatever server of Nintendo's that holds the Wonder Card for download they go to the same place as the American version does.

I can't be sure as far as Generation I-III goes (though I'm pretty sure Canada never got the assorted island tickets for Emerald and FireRed/LeafGreen), but I'm pretty sure the only Generation IV event distributed at a retail location in Canada was the Secret Key at Canadian TRU. At least it was reported they were holding the event... it may still be a thing of myth, as I didn't actually go in myself to get it. The next day, the Secret Key became available over Wi-Fi so it didn't seem like there was much point going to a TRU.

[not Canadian disclaimer] Agreed, Canada gets a short end of the stick. D: I feel lucky to be able to go to GameStop right now and get a Jirachi. When you look at all of the events that have happened since DPPt, though, I really don't think Nintendo's making a large effort to get events far out of Japan anyway. I know Japan is Pokémon's homeland, but it really cannot be so amazingly difficult to hold at least Wi-Fi events for a majority of the bigger countries... everyone plays Pokémon. It's a huge success, at Tajiri himself intended for it to be that way. The the failure here, it burns.

I think writing to GameStop is a good idea, actually... especially if you live in a large city where a more popular GameStop can see the benefits of holding such events.
Good luck with Québec, though. D:

The secret key was at TRU in Canada. I went there to get it, and then felt like an idiot when they released it on wifi.

EU is a continent, not a country.

What?Brazilian and other south american fans get even more ignored.A game+a DS costs almost one thousand reais,i've never heard about any event, most times the anime appears on tv(which is not a common thing) it's just random episodes like a cartoon, the manga was barely released, the TCG is very expensive and rare...and i'm not thinking ''damn nintendo''.USA,EU,Japan,Australia and New Zealand are very rich countries-a good place to promote a franchise.Nintendo wouldn't care about other countries like Brazil, where most people are poor. And sorry if i offended you, canadians, but i offended myself too with this post.At least Canada isn't a third-world country.

they told you before....

Spacebar is your friend. It really is. It LOVES you.

As for Canada, i don't know what to say, nintendo just don't like it. =\

We got nothing in NL. Not like that's a surprise.

I think I'll call GameStop soon, though.

Canadians are dumb at Pokemon eh?

Yeah, I'm going to pretend I didn't see that.

I agree with most people here, we hardly get events, and when we do get event's, it's not that spectacular.

Maybe they'll change their approach on the whole matter soon enough?

Thanks.

Based on this thread and the one about the recent Gamestop Jirachi event, it seems as if the majority of active Canadian members here have had enough of the event neglect we've been suffering through for the last decade or so.

So I say we do something about it. Yes, we can all complain to Gamestop through their phone and e-mail corporate customer service channels; and we should all be doing that. Gamestop needs to understand that there are a significant number of Pokemon fans in Canada, and it's worth holding these events to get us all into their stores. However, I also think we can do more in the interim. Something that might at least curb the problem for many of us, and allow us to finally get these events without having to resort to Wi-Fi trading and the like. It is in fact possible, thanks to technology, to distribute event Wonder Cards to ourselves without relying on Gamestop or TRU choosing to host these events (ultimately it is up to them, and The Pokemon Company claims they offer them the chance each time). I invite any Canadian member that feels similarly to shoot me an e-mail or PM in the hopes that the group of us can collaborate and come up with a solution to this long-standing problem.

NZ has only ever had the Wordwide Wifi events, which kinda sucks. I don't even know where we would complain to about that. The only gamestore I can think of is EB Games but really...

You're not making any sense. All the Wi-Fi events so far have been available in Canada. Think about it, it's Wi-Fi, all that means is online, so obviously anyone anywhere can get it.
