I was looking at my dad's Toyfare magazine and it mentioned some info about the third X-Men movie.

Our favorite mutants return without brilliant director Bryan Singer. But get this, Buffy creator Joss Whedon may take his place! Expect new mutants and plenty of punches to fly. And maybe (fingers crossed) Dark Pheonix?
I don't like Dark Pheonix but whatever. I just hope Storm isn't in the movie less like I heard before.

And it also mentions an Iron Man movie.

Dark Phoenix is the most logical place to go. If they DON'T do it, then they'll leave all the fans wondering what the build up at the end of X2 was about. I just hate the fact that if they DO do Dark Phoenix there's a HUGE chance that we won't see the Shi'Ar, or at least not to the degree to spark non-fans interest. Or they'll make Gladiator look like some random guy.

As for Storm, Halle Berry said that she didn't want to come back unless she had a HUGE role in it, although that was BEFORE Catwoman failed miserably, so without another comic role to turn to, she'll probably come back, but get put in some horribly demeaning role (hopefully mohawk Storm).

Yes, there is an Iron Man movie, and for a while Tom Cruise was attached, although loosely. Last I heard, they had the script written, or were working on the script still. Nothing big is going on, though. It's really about as far along as Deathlok and Black Panther at this point.

As much as Joss Whedon directing would be nice, its not terribly likely. He's currently directing Serenity (film of Firefly. W00 etc.), so isn't likely to be free enough to direct any other films.
As Halle Berry acting as a superhero, well I think Catwomen and her acting in the x-men films speaks for itself.

Ensemble = script trouble

An interesting little quote from Zack Penn there, Animelee.

Of course, he has a point. The larger your pool of major characters, the more difficult it is to write a movie of a reasonable length that lets you use them efficiently. Look at the problems with the various incarnations of Star Trek where you can have anything up to eight main characters and over a dozen recurring secondary characters to deal with. One of the big problems in the last few Trek movies, IMHO, was the 'cameo' issue of giving major characters walk-on roles that added nothing to the story.

Of course, this is a problem that we Pokémon fans are all too familiar with. The so called 'storage box' problem - Ash has over two dozen different species that he can now use, so the script writers have to go to ever more elaborate lengths to justify why we don't see them more often.

Onto the topic, I think that X3 will definately include Pheonix (however, it is not certain that they will use the Dark Pheonix storyline from the comics. They might just jump over the whole 'resurrection' thing and go straight over to the Uber!Jean that we know and love ;-) ).

I wanna see Shadowcat in the 3rd movie. She's one of my favorite X-Men.

She's been in 2 so far, so there's no reason for her to not appear in the third (but ya never know for sure). Biggest rumor is that Colossus is going to get a MUCH larger role. And I'm still waiting for Gambit to show up, even in a cameo.

I guess what I mean is, to see more of her. She only had cameos in the first two IIRC. Hey, if Colossus gets a larger role, maybe that means she will too. Yeah, Gambit would be awesome. I hope they do manage to get Halle Berry back as Storm, but she needs to try using an accent this time. The unaccented Storm from #2 just didn't seem right IMO.

The main problem with including the whole Shi'Ar concept is that it ain't exactly something that can be worked in a low key scale, may be if Gladiator and everything else space related came to the Earth instead of the X-men traveling through space, I mean involving space and the existence of superior beings is a lot to squeeze into X3 just as a side line.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why they do (most of) the things they do. It's just frustrating to see something cut out that's so integral to the storyline. I mean, Gladiator himself wasn't integral, but it was that final battle between the X-Men and the Imperial Guard that gave the storyline such a memorable ending. And it's like the bridge scene from Spider-Man one. Seeing another character in the role just feels wrong. But I won't get into all my issues with the first Spider-Man movie.

Ororo's my favorite mutant so I hope she doesn't appear less. And it's be nice to see more of Kitty. But I'd like to see Beast as well.

Hank McCoy made a cameo in X2, and Brian Singer, before he defected to Superman said there were 3 mutants he REALLY wanted to see in the X-Men movies: Nightcrawler, Beast, and Gambit. So if he HAD stayed on, Beast was almost a guarantee. But now? Who knows?

Ah, X3 thread. I loved the first two. But I'm not so sure about the third one.... For one I heard that Hugh Jackman won't play Wolverine because he is doing Van Helsing 2. Second, I also heard that Halle Berry will indeed be coming back. Third, Kelsey Grammer will be doing the voice of Beast, which i guess isn't that bad of a thing compared to the first two. Lastly, and the best news from this movie by far, Katherine Pryde will have a leading role in this movie.

Yeah, I've been wanting to see Jean's incarnation as the Phoenix. A lot has been altered from the comics in the X-Man movies, and I think wisely; however, I'm still wondering why in the world Rogue doesn't fly. o.o I don't think ANY of the outer space stuff would do too well on screen. It does well as a comic book plot, yes, but movies need more substance than that. I was hoping more for something to do with the X-Men's most powerful villian: Apocalypse. They haven't had Juggernaut already, have they? I haven't watched the movies in a long time. There may be a whole host of other villians I'm missing, but it's been a long time since I've seen the cartoon, too.

Well, Angel IS going to be featured in the next one. In apparently a pretty large role since they have an actor playing Angel as an Adult and another kid playing Angel at 8 . . .

The name sounds familiar, but I forget who Angel is. Oh, nevermind, that would be Archangel, wouldn't it? I could be wrong, I tend to get things criscrossed.

That's a HUGELY false rumor. Jackman WILL be back, and he'll actually be a PRODUCER for this film, so he'll be more involved than ever.

Because she got the ability to fly after absorbing the powers of Ms. Marvel. She retained it because she held the contact for so long. In the movies, we meet her right as she finds out about her powers. In the movies, she never joined the Brotherhood, and never absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers. And thus...no flying Rogue. No super-strength Rogue. Just a Rogue with the powers she was born to have.

They haven't had Juggernaut already, have they?

He'll be the villain in X3.

Ben Foster is playing the adult Angel. The kid version is being played by the kid from Shark Boy and Lava Girl...or whatever that movie was called. He's supposed to play a fairly large role. And Ben Foster's a great choice.

Angel AKA Avenging Angel AKA Death AKA Archangel AKA Warren Worthington III. Not to be confused with Angel AKA Angela Salvadore or Angel AKA Thomas Halloway (the ORIGINAL Angel).

I'm happy now. Can I give you a hug?
