Prologue
There are many peculiar things on this planet. Everyday, unexplainable phenomenon occurs. Most people choose to keep their eyes closed to these occurrences. If there is one thing I learned… People and Dreams are by far the strangest things of this earth.
Chapter 1
Destined Encounter
I ran through several streets as I was chased by many twisted and gruesome shadows.
Some of which, being colossal with distorted limbs while others had no distinct shapes
and were merely what looks like a purple clouds of smoke. While others were covered in
head to tow with many yellow eyes. I continued to run while others stared. Was it
possible that I could only see these things? Or was I was just going crazy. I ran past
several Buildings of England. Until I came up to what looked like a small house nestled
in between to large skyscrapers. I looked behind and the monsters were gone. I looked
behind me and the monsters were gone. I looked at the small little house with the
utmost curiosity. Without thinking I walked to the little house. I looked at the door,
which bore a sign that read “Raven’s Shop of Fortunes, Dreams, and Wishes. I knocked
on the door and stood there for a second waiting for a second but no one answered.
“Hello!” I called. I opened the door and coughed a little. It was filled with a smell of
Incense and tobacco. I enter to see a large sitting room with lavender couch closest to
me and another large couch with a black coffee table in between them. A door draped
with curtains leading to a back room behind the second couch. The wall had many
paintings of black birds. While windows let in natural light illuminating the room.
“Welcome… Please sit.” A melodic voice requested. I then sat on the couch closest to
me. “A woman with a crow with a yellow jewel on its chest on her shoulder came out of
the back room. She had long flowing black hair that came down to the back of her
knees and a slightly pointed face. She had large brown eyes that were almost
serpentine. She was rather tall with rather long and lanky limbs with pale skin. The
woman wore a white gown, which dragged, across the floor. She carried a long and
thin pipe that she carried in between her fingers as it smoked. She then sat on the
couch opposite me leaning against the arm of it. “What is your name?” She asked.
Without thinking I said “Ciel Nightingale.” “Well Ciel. Don’t you think its odd that we just
met and we hardly said more then a few sentences to each other yet you told your
name to a complete stranger your name. With just your name, many people could find
out many things about you but yet you tell a stranger your name without thinking.” The
woman replied. “Oh! I’m sorry!” I Replied. “That’s okay, it just means that you’re a
trusting person and there’s nothing wrong with that. You just have to be careful no to
hand out you trust like people hand out candy on Halloween. I am Raven by the way
and this is my beloved pet Tobias.” Raven replied. “Um, right.” I replied awkwardly.
“Now tell me what brings you here Ciel?” Raven asked. “Um well, I was being chased by
monsters and when I came here they disappeared.” I replied. “I see… Those filthy
bastards. Those monsters are the nightmares brought to life by a group of Super
Natural beings known as the Grim Clan. They bring nightmares to life in order to destroy
the human race. No ordinary human would be able to see them however their presence
is the cause of hostility. This is often the cause why many humans murder their own
kind.” Raven replied. “But you said no one could see them? Why can I?” I asked a little
worried. Hold on a second. Nimue bring the tool please.” Raven called. A barefooted girl
with long blue hair and large blue eyes and a blue dress stepped out of the back room.
She carried a large bowl filled with water and large disc topped with a black candle.
“For you Mistress.” Nimue said in a blank tone. “Thank you Nimue.” Raven said. She
then placed the ball of water on the table. She then placed the disc on surface of the
water, which it floated. Raven then proceeded to light the black candle on it. “Oh
Dreams. Please show me the Potential of this boy.” Raven ordered. The wispy smoke
from the candle then began to make a shape. It started as many blurry lines before
making shape of a caterpillar. The caterpillar then shrunk in size and grew wings. It had
become a butterfly. It then flapped its wings before it disappeared in a puff. “I see. You
have a lot of potential. You are weak and feeble like a Caterpillar at the moment but you
will eventually grow into a very capable butterfly. Tell me do you still want to know why
you can see those monsters? If you do there is no turning back.” Raven warned. I
thought about it a little. What was the worst that could happen? “Tell me.” I requested.
“Over many years there have been people who are different from others. They have
had many names such as Witches and Warlocks, even Psychics but the proper name for
these people are Dreamers. Dreamers have many different abilities. A pet familiar also
accompanies them. An animal especially compatible with their owner. Right Tobias.”
Raven asked her crow. “Yes lady Raven.” Tobias replied. “WAH! DID THAT BIRD JUST
TALK!?” I cried. “Yes Tobias just talked. Some pet familiars look like ordinary animals
while others look like something out of a fantasy novel. Each one of them of them
possesses the ability to talk. Nimue get Cosmo please.” Nimue then came out of the
back room carrying what looked like a black egg. She then placed the basket with the
egg on my lap. “Touch him. If he reacts he’s yours.” Raven requested. I reached out
and touched the egg. It felt plush and squishy to the touch. It then quivered. “AHH!” I
gasped. Then two floppy black rabbit ears sprang up and two stubs appeared for hands
and another pair for feet. It grew a little pink nose and two large blue eyes opened
while a blue orb came into existence on its forehead. “Hi!” It said in a voice that
sounded like a little boy. “Um, hello. I’m Ciel.” I told the lite egg shaped puffball. Its ear
then twitched. “I’m Cosmo.” Cosmo replied. “Perfect now that you have a partner, we
can move on to the next step.” Raven said. The Next time she spoke it seemed to echo
like she was in a large corridor. “Dreams of Good. Dreams of Hope. Bring to me the tool
of justice for Dreamer Ciel Nightingale. “ A gust of wind blew from what seemed like no
where as a ball of light materialized in. A rod then materialized in her hand with in a
flash of light. It was a blue rod with a yellow star at the end. “For you.” Raven gestured
as she handed the Rod to me. “Um, a thank you but I don’t deserve this. I’m not
anything special. This is just a coincidence. You have the wrong person.” I said
dejected. Raven then laughed. “Foolish boy. There is no such thing as coincidences.
Destiny, Fate, and the Inevitable are the only factors that affect life.” Raven replied.
“Think Positive!” Cosmo cheered. “Cosmo’s right. You may not be properly trained but
you will have one the most powerful Dreamers to ever walk this earth as your teacher.”
Raven comforted. “Who?” I asked. “Me.” Raven replied.
