Contest Yanmega VS Scolipede

Two bug types, of relatively common types, that happen to be both quite good anyway.

The thing that they have in common is that they are both pokémon inspired from two ancient giant arthropods.


Who would win in a fight?
Which is more useful?
Which has a better design and concept?
Which do you preffer anyway?


Anyway, I think Yanmega would easilly defeat Scolipede, having many options to do more damage, coupled with stats and ability.

Similarly, while it is weak to Rock, it can be quite destructive anyway and hard to get rid of. However, Scolipede (ironically) plays a little less agressively, and it is good for starting battles.

As for desing... a giant centipede that looks like the king of all that crawls is a pretty cool design, but Yanmega gives Bug types a pretty terrific and intimidating image. If only it were Bug/Dragon...

So overall, I'm going with the flying one.

Yanmega, definitely. The looks, the movepool, the stats... It's got it all better than Scolipede.

With Protect, Yanmega could easily beat Scolipede. Without Protect, Scolipede could beat Yanmega with Rock Slide. Yanmega has the better stats, but Scolipede has the better movepool (nobody would use Ancientpower). But overall, because its status as a baton passer and a less crippling weakness to Stealth Rock, vote goes to Scolipede.

I am definitely voting Yanmega. Just look at it, it's so badass. Scolipede just never spoke to me, but Yanmega. I mean, damn. It doesn't hurt that it is a monster in battle.

While both are some of my absolute favourite Bug types, I'm going to say Yanmega. Scolipede is awesome (and very underrated), but Yanmega and I have a history stained red with the blood of our enemies.

Who would win in a fight?
Well Scolipede would naturally out speed Yanmega in normal circumstances and hit it with a Rock Slide, however Yanmega has Speed Boost as an ability. Yanmega would only have to use Protect/Detect, then just simply Air Slash Scolipede once it's got the boost in speed. Yanmega would win on this basis.

Which is more useful?
Well based on the above I would say Yanmega is more useful because the Detect/Speed Boost strategy is deadly if not dealt with quickly.

Which has a better design and concept?
I'm going to say that I like both designs just the same. I think they are quite well thought out and have interesting colourations.

Which do you prefer anyway?
I haven't used it before, but Yanmega would be my preference in this scenario.

Bug is probably one of my least favorite Pokemon types . But I really like Scolipede's design, so that's who I'm voting for. However, Yanmega could easily take down Scolipede, since it's a speed demon. If it weren't for that, they could probably be pretty evenly-matched.
