Hello! My name is Mia. I'm a 24-year-old lifelong Pokémon fan (who sucks at introducing herself, lol). My pronouns are she/her and I happen to be a trans woman.

As I said, I've been a Pokémon fan for almost two decades by now. My first game was a hand-me-down copy of Pokémon Silver when I was... I want to say 5? The battery was long dead though, so I never got far. My real start with the franchise was with Pokémon Diamond when I was 6 or 7. My memories are fuzzy, but I remember quickly falling in love with the cute critters and charming world, and I've played every single game in the franchise since.
My favorite generations are Gen 4 (childhood bias for Sinnoh), Gen 9, and a tie between Gens 5 and 7 (though, specifically Sun and Moon), in that order. My favorite Pokémon are Crobat and Sprigatito!

As for why I'm here... a friend of mine offhandedly mentioned these forums in a Discord server, which reminded me that, oh yeah, they exist. I've been struggling to make friends in general, be it online or offline, so I thought it might be a good opportunity to join, especially since the vibes here seem to be quite good.
As a quick aside, I happen to have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), which is known to make social interactions complicated. So I want to apologize in advance if I take things too personally at some point. I'll do my best to not cause trouble, though! I've been getting better about that lately.

Outside of Pokémon, my main interests are BanG Dream! and Sonic the Hedgehog. The former is a very recent hyperfixation of mine (for anyone familiar, my favorite bands are RAISE A SUILEN, MyGO!!!!!, and Ave Mujica), while the latter has been in my life for 20 years now, and is the only franchise that can match Pokémon in terms of importance in my life. My first video game ever was Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive, haha.

I'm also a writer. I've been writing my entire life. Lately, I've mostly been writing fanfiction, but I also have original projects always swimming in the back of my mind. Writing is my life, and it means a lot to me.

My favorite Sonic games are Sonic 3 & Knuckles (my favorite game of all time) and Sonic Rush Adventure! As for my favorite characters, given I like the Rush games, it'll come as no surprise that they're Sonic and Blaze, haha. I like Tails, Eggman and Sage a lot as well!

I've actually written one Sonic fic before. I'm not sure if it's okay to advertise here, though, so I'll hold back on linking it until I've made my bulbablog, which shouldn't be much longer now. I'm easy to find if you want to look, though! I'll have to check out the Sonic and Writing threads also!

I'm a year younger than you, so this checks out that we grew up with the same generation. Did you also watch the Diamond & Pearl anime? That's how I started getting into Pokemon, cause at first I didn't even know there were games. I never finished that series of the anime though, because my country decided to just... not air the final batch of episodes for some reason. Last badge I saw Ash get in Sinnoh was from Candice.

Well that's a mood. Online is better for me, but even there it happens very very rarely. It's just that when compared to IRL, online is better (for me).

YES! More BanG Dream people! I should really try to make a Pokemon team for the characters at some point, just for fun. The only ones I've figured out so far (although I haven't thought of it much yet) are the Purrloin line for Nyamu (cause purple cat) and Piplup line for Tomori (cause penguin). Tomori would also have at least one rock type, 100%, but that's harder to narrow down (as in, which one specifically), since there are a lot more rocks than penguins in Pokemon. After all, Rock is a type, penguins are not.

I'm not personally into Sonic, but as a kid I did play a lot of the fanmade games online. I don't remember what they were called, I don't even know if they're still online, but they were very much JRPG-like, so a different style from the actual games.

And fun fact! One of those games used Fullmetal Alchemist's first opening song as the intro (FMA specifically, not Brotherhood), and this was waaaay before I watched Fullmetal Alchemist. I didn't know where that song was from. So when I did watch FMA and episode 1 hit me with that song I was like "HOOOOOOOOOLD ON. YOU. I KNOW YOU!"

OH! We have the same Bandori favorites! I listen to RAS a lot less recently since I'm too obsessed with MyGO and Ave Mujica, though! And it's not even that I was introduced to the franchise via them. My first contact was an Afterglow cover and a Roselia original. Raise a Suilen wasn't even in the game back then (well, at least not in Global. Japan might've had them already, I'm not certain).

What are your favorite songs from these 3? Mine are, with the mention that I haven't listened to quite everything from RAS, these ones:

I did! When I was a kid, I watched early Indigo League, and a good amount of Advanced and Diamond and Pearl. I don't remember too much though, just that I enjoyed it and owned a lot of the DVDs. I've since gone back and watched most of the anime, and Diamond and Pearl still holds up quite well. It's not on the level of XY, Sun and Moon or Horizons though, in my opinion.

It's also based on konpeito, which is a type of Japanese candy that Tomori likes, due to being similar to stars, another passion of hers. Finally, off the top of my head, I think Sakiko would have a Kingambit. It's a regal Dark-type Pokémon based on chess, and all together, it just fits Ave Mujica to a tee.

You're thinking of Final Fantasy Sonic X! I also had the same reaction to listening to Melissa years after playing those flash games. I used to play them a lot as a kid, alongside Ultimate Flash Sonic. The creator of the former passed away recently, sadly. I hope he rests in peace.

You've seen most of it? Nice! I haven't seen that much of the Pokemon anime, all things considered. I've seen up to the Cycling Road episode in Indigo Plateau, most of Sinnoh (because TV said "no more for you!"), half of XY and now watching Horizons but not caught up. I've heard lots of good things about Sun and Moon, although I know some people dislike it for being different. But I don't know if I'd mind that, since Horizons itself is also very different and I love it.

Raana could have a shiny Sprigatito! It's still green, just a different shade of it. The reason I think that'd be fun is because you need to be lucky to find shinies, and you can count yourself lucky if you find Raana when you want to find Raana.

Also, you mentioned Lost One's Weeping for Afterglow and Neo Aspect for Roselia, let's go!!! Those 2 were my introduction to Bandori that I was referring to.
I need to check some of those songs out because I've been so focused on MyGO and Ave Mujica lately, and that combined with the fact that the 2023 mega-update of the game made it unplayable on my phone, I ended up kinda neglecting the original bands and even Morfonica and RAS.
