So here is my team for the monotype tourny coming up.

Reviews would be much appriciated

Edits made in LIME

Tentacruel -
Spr_3e_073.gif

Ability - Liqued Ooze
Nature - Calm
EV's - Hp 252 / Def 120 / Spec Def 136
Item: Lefties

~ Toxic Spikes
~ Surf
~ Ice Beam
~ Sludge Bomb

Spiker Lead. Unless there is a psychic threat on the field i should be able to set up dual layers of toxic spikes. No Spin support mostly because Vespiquen is the only Poke that fears it.

Ariados -
Spr_4d_168.png

Ability - Insomnia
Nature - Adamant
EV's - HP 6 / Atk 252 / Spe 252
Item - Life Orb

~ Bug Bite
~ Pursuit
~ Sucker Punch
~ Shadow Sneak

I adore this ariados. It's never anticipated and with dual Priorty mod +1 moves it ge tthe jump on Pokes that think it will be an easy kill. Like Azelfs. And then kill them. It was worked wonders for my on Shoddy as part of my Cobra's team. Pursuit is there incase anything tries to flee.

Vespiquen -
Spr_4p_416.png

Ability - Pressure
Nature - Impish
EV's - Hp 252 / Def 134 / Spec Def 114
Item - Lefties

~ Defend Order
~ Heal Order
~ Attack Order
~ Toxic

This is a brilliant Tank, again from my Cobras Shoddy Team. So long as there is no Stealth Rock up then there is no worry about getting a couple of defend orders up and heal ordering away, using toxic every now and again. Steels completly bugger this up. but there is very few of them anticipated.

Drapion -
Spr_4p_452.png

Ability - Sniper
Nature - Jolly
EV's - HP 6 / Atk 252 / Spe 252
Item - Choice Band

~ Night Slash
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Fang
~ Cross Poison

This guy is one of my answers to my horrid psychic weakness with a bit of groung killing mixed in. Not much also to say about him.

Crobat -
Spr_4p_169.png

Ability - Inner Focus
Nature - Timid
EV's - HP 124 / Spec Atk 132 / Spe 252
Item - Lefties

~ Hypnosis
~ Roost
~ Air Slash
~ Sludge Bomb

Not too sure about this one. I mean its a general fast sleeper. once target is sleep just spam Air Slash on anything on that doesn't resist it and Sludge Bomb the rest.

Weavile -
Spr_4d_461_m.png

Ability - Pressure
Nature - Jolly
EV's - HP 40 / Atk 252 / Spe 216
Item - Choice Band

~ Pursuit
~ Ice Punch
~ Brick Break
~ Poison Jab

GRRRRR stupid rules on type restriction. I dropped Night Slash for Poison Jab, because there is Pursuit as a dark move. Otherwise it will operate as a standard revenge killer. Switches in on the mostly likely psychic type and pursuit as it flees. if a ground killed my poison that it get ice falcon punched. Any steels get brick breaked.

i'll look over this properly in a bit

just two big things

one, your allowed two pokemon of other types in a team, so you should have another pokemon that isnt poison :)

two, it's a poison team, whats just about the most powerful poison pokemon? GENGGAAARRR
where is he here? huh? huh? :O

Vespiquen's Bug/Flying and Weavile's Dark/Ice... so he's got two.

I don't think you need Poison moves on everything, though. Just the Pokemon that aren't Poison-type.

That being said, I myself have a Roost Crobat.
Which is in a word, unorthodox.
It doesn't work too well for me.
Because Crobat is so fragile, it may just be worth piling on as much damage as possible. The healing is good, but it's liable to just be cut down again.

oh yes, my bad

i dont mean to be rude but, you could have any tank you want, bronzong, dusknoir, blissey, snorlax, why would you chose an NU vespequen? it's really not going to be as powerful as somthing else could be :/

and the rules are that you have to have 4 pokemon of your type, not neccesearily with your type's moves, and then 2 other pokemon, both of whom need poison moves

Gengar sucks. Weavile stops psychics more effectivly

seriously though there is no spot on the team where i would put gengar .... except possibly Crobat.

some gimme a good Gengar or reason not to use Crobat

Meh Stab is allways useful

gengar sucks? :|

he really doesnt :p ah ha

a scarf tricking gengar can ruin a team

Okay maybe gengar doesn't suck.

The reason for an NU Vespiquen is because i found her surprising effective.

Poison's not a very good attacking type in general, though. I'm not saying it's a terrible type, I'm just saying that it's not a good idea to slap it everywhere on your team wherever possible. In fact I highly encourage using a very underlooked type... but I just don't really see the point of putting it on everything. :l

If Vespiquen works for you, then by all means use it. Who needs boring and generic walls like Blissey and Bronzong, anyway? >_>

(lol barely giving any actual team advice ^_^;)

i appologise, i re-read what i said and it must have seemed quite mean, by all means use a pokemon that isnt usually rated to be good :)

my only warning is that the only real power it has is surprise, and that people wont know what it's going to do. the big problem i can see is that it's not strong enough to be able to get in many defend orders

oh, and give it roost over heal order, seems odd, but when your roosting, your not weak to electric and rock anymore, and the ground effectivness isnt going to matter because noones going to earthquake a vespequen

Vespiquen is too slow to use it effectivly.

Apart from cursing snorlax, which are most likely not going to appear the advantage of losing weakness for the turn won't take effect.

Also gave ariados and quick edit

Thank you. If only more were as philosophical as you. ):

Another thing I noticed is that it might be worth replacing Ice Shard with Ice Punch.
Although it is a first priority attack, given Weavile's impressive speed, chances are he'll be attacking first anyway. Ice Punch is a stronger option.

I still think gengar is better than vespiquen.

But to each his own opinion.

Hmmm, probably right. I'll edit that in.

Where is weezing, one of the greatest sponges around? His only flaw is his lack of recovery move!
Pack pain split

crap forgot about weezing

Both of these will be able to give me tremendos special attacking power.

One WILL be replacing Crobat. I may use the other over vespiquen. However the bee does have uses

Weezing -
Spr_2c_110.gif

Ability - Levitate
Nature - Relaxed
EV's - 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpA
Item: Lefties

~ Thunderbolt
~ Flamethrower
~ Hidden Power Ice
~ Explosion

Gengar -
Spr_3e_094.gif

Ability - Levitate
Nature - Timid
EV's - 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Item: Choice Specs

~ Shadow Ball
~ Thunderbolt
~ Focus Blast
~ Hidden Power Ice

Both pokes a pretty much the same. Heavy hitting spec attackers/ Weezing can wall physicals trying to batter my team while Gengar does what it does best. pounding on the spec side until it's killed
