In a nutshell: The internet exploded.

In a slightly larger nutshell: Blanket method of journal deletion in attempt to remove journals of pedophiles, many innocent journals deleted in process including fandom stuff and RP journals, literature discussion communities, journals of survivors of the stuff they're trying to stop... etc. No chance for appeal. LJ users not getting good answers from the support team and canceling paid accounts en masse. Official statement nowhere in sight, just an insufficient attempt at damage control. Warriors for Innocence, the vigilantes behind the reporting of the deleted journals, doing little victory dances because they believe this purge necessary for great justice.

Fandom Wank's got it here. It's showing up on a ton of other places too.

Film at 11.

I'm gonna go moan about this on my LiveJournal!

...oh wait...

I already warned the fanfic forum (here and on Serebii), as well as notified Rocket100.

Funny, LJ says in their ToS that they'd only ban accounts as a last resort. I don't think locking them without warning counts as a "last resort".

Hey, at least the Baby-Sitters club (a literature discussion blog) wasn't deleted. I don't know what I'd do without them.
As for the rest of you, I send you my sympathies. Recently I may have lost one of the most important series of my life (that I wrote with my own mind). However, the story is still in my head so it's not that bad.

Why didn't you just save it to your computer?

lol Oak

Eh, kinda glad I don't have an LJ at this point. This must really suck. T_T

It's just like the devart incident all over again! D: I just love this type of internet drama.

Deviantartsnark and fanficrants are still intact so I'll just lol evilly from a distance.

Ugh. I hate it when censors want to ban everything they don't like under the guise of "protect the children". Claim children are endangered to get people's parental instincts riled, and you can pretty much get them to do anything.

Some people really deserve shot.

As I commented on BJ's journal, the next attack may be on everyone who loves shounen-ai and yaoi; I'll be utterly screwed.

This is just so... so absurdly stupid, I can't stand it. :banghead:

The Christianofascists war on modern western culture is at once far quieter, and far more effective, than that of their Islamic brethren.

And yet they say that it is for our own good, and that we violated LiveJournal's T.O.S. while they pointed the fingers at us for bringing ourselves down. And it appears they are enjoying our frustrations as a dramatic big-budget Hollywood movie.

This is what happens when a seemingly well-intentioned group turns evil.

Warning: it seems like their web site is full of spyware, from what I hear.

It's times like these I wish that we could just ban religion. The misdeeds of those few fanatical members of any one denomination (hell, most are of just the Abrahamic religions) are far more than the good deeds of those who believe in their religion to do good things for others.

It's funny. Those who do the misdeeds say they're doing this stuff to help others be saved, but really, they're doing it so that they look better in the eyes of their invisible buddy in the sky.

Even without religion, there'd still be overprotective parents. "Good" and "evil" aren't necessarily religious concepts, and people do have an inherent fear of things that are different.

But yeah, supposed "authority figures" claiming to speak for God *do* tend to mess things up. If only people would learn to think for themselves rather than being lead around on a chain of claimed rightiousness.

"if only people would learn to think for themselves" goes beyond religion.

Communism, Capitalism, Fascism, Nazism, etc all tend to let a book or authority figure do their thinking for them.
