I just noticed something, about Takeshi Obata (artist of Death Note).
alot fo the series' he draws for have a similar aspect to them. they all have a main hero who gets met by some out side force and drives them to do something.

examples:

Hikaru no Go:
Hikaru meets Sai (Ghost) and becomes a GO player

Death Note:
Light meets Ryuk (Death God)and then becomes a God of Death

Blue Dragon: Ral Grad:
Ral is born with Grad (Shadow Dragon) inside of him and then goes to free the shadows from there queen

BAKUMAN. :
Mashiro meets Takagi (Crazy ass mo fo) and then becomes a manga artist.


these all show signs of "Teamwork" and "Partner Battle" stories.
and since Obata doesn't write the stories do you think he chooses them for this kind of a genre? do you think teamwork shonen manga are his favoruite type?

Teamwork is kind of a main defining theme when it comes to Shonen manga, not to belittle the similarities you've drawn (Before Bakuman I would have said he's had a ghost spirit fetish because most of his series featured ghost... but he doesn't actually write them, so I'm sure it's more coincidence), they're good relations, but it doesn't prove anything other than Shonen titles include themes of teamwork, (hard work, and competition.)

yeah but it seems that these ones all seem to be one thing approaching the other guy.
and yeah actually before Bakuman I was drawing the whole ghost connection XD

I'm a fan of Hikaru No Go but not Blue Dragon... Blue Dragon just isn't my style, you know? A kid with a freaky shadow...
I'm also a fan of Death Note. That's how I know about him.
