Thanks to circumstances beyond my control (okay, an irate school technology director), I'll only be able to post here once or twice a week from now on, at least until I can manage to bribe/blackmail the individual responsible into unblocking the site on the server at school, or get a job to pay the $10 a month for Internet at my house. I'll still post religiously and participate in Diamondshipping flamewars when needed, but otherwise, if you want to get in touch with me, email me ([email protected]), since I won't be able to check my PM box much.

Aww, that's too bad. ;_; Like Blackjack said, why would they block this site, anyway? o_O;

Because schools are insane and block even neopets.com?
Okay, granted, that site's corrupt now and is more or less just up to sell plushies and cards and crap, but it used to have educational value and they blocked it even when it was innocent...

Okay, so blocking that's fine. But come on, this is BULBAGARDEN.
...
Maybe they're Serebii-fanboys? One sure way to tell is if they let you visit serebii.net

If both are struck out, they clearly hate Pokemon. -nod-

A while ago my school had SPP blocked, but not BMG or TPM. Strange...

Aww......

That's so sad. :-(

I can't believe they'd do that.

But, anyway, they did a similar thing at my school.

In my high school's library, if you were caught on any websites that weren't educational or weren't homework related, they would ban you by taking you off the school's computer network, and you wouldn't be able to log on to the computer's anymore.

So whenever I went on Bulbagarden, I always had to be extra careful to make sure the librarian didn't see me on there.

And I thought my school's proxy was strict...and we're talking the Department of Education (aka Deaducation) of New York. They have the annoying Symantec Security software, along with bandwidth monitors (which note the exact location of the machine that is abusing bandwidth) and a PIX firewall. BMG and IRC are not blocked surprisingly, which makes it easier to post from school.

If you were able to still type in the website URL and get to the site, would you still be allowed to come on here?

I was at the library.

The only reason she blocked it, as far as I know, is because I was typing the "becoming evil" thread, and she got after me over the word "asshole", even though I censored out the "s"s (is that how you type the plural?), because I was "misrepresenting the school". Even though I'm the only one on here from Indiana (I think), and I doubt any of you could care less what school I go to. But hey, it's a Catholic school, she's got her reasons, I suppose... Also, the woman's a sadist and was fresh from just successfully blocking MySpace, gleefully, no less. She more than likely was just out for more student blood.

We've got SmoothWall, aka the Filter from Hell. Totally unhackable.

Though we may work something out... my guidance counselor, God bless her soul, said that my past year of covert posting on here may well have worked as a kind of therapy for my Asperger Syndrome, so if we can get the Web Nazi to buy the story, she might just unblock it. We can hope.

Really, the past week's been hell for me, you guys. I miss all of you, and I've been getting really depressed too. Being banished to the land of SPP doesn't help much, since the noobs and poor spelling depress me even more.

A similar situation happened here, when teachers at St. Thomas Aquinas High School discovered a student's angry diatribe against a teacher. The student in question got suspended, but the faculty took the matter a little too seriously and started handing out detentions (I think) to other students who had MySpace accounts and had their pics or comments or whatever on the site. My sympathy.

It had nothing to do with teachers though. So it's totally different.

They gave students detention just for having MySpace accounts? I have my issues with the site, but dang... almost makes our tech director look reasonable.

Thanks for the sympathy, though.

The other students were punished simply because they were somehow associated with the one student who got suspended over her comments about a teacher. I don't remember the exact details, though, but I think some of them either (a) made comments about her post or (b) had pics of themselves linked to her page. The rationalization behind it was "you're making the school look bad and you should all be good citizens" or something like that.

That's so sad, nekusagi-chan... I hope you can visit Bulbagarden forums more often.

No worries. I've discovered Proxies!
Thank you, NinjaProxy!

...though I'll only be able to visit when WN's not here, lest she find out.

You could also save an .HTML or .HTM file using Notepad with an iFrame in it and go to sites through there. ^^
