Catching Fireflies
You Won't Feel A Thing

I promise baby you won't ever,
You won't ever feel a thing,
'Cause I will take it on the chin,
Yeah,
For you,
So lay your cuts and bruises,
Over my skin.

- The Script,
You Won't Feel A Thing

Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga
No more Anima, Runners, Fireflies or Fire Elementals are to be created. Any other races listed below are fine though.

---

Welcome to Catching Fireflies.

Catching Fireflies is set in a world that is not our own. In many ways it is different, in many ways it is the same. The world of the Fireflies is known more commonly as Alveus. The world of Alveus is inhabited by a small selection of people, each with their own talents, their own abilities. The world of Alveus is wrought by war.

Alveus is not split into sides. It is a free-for-all, and the victor will ultimately decide the fate of the world. Alveus is, however split into 'races' though races are not decided by ones looks but rather their skills or talents. These talents are not the mundane ones we possess though, the ones of our world. These talents are supernatural. Firstly, and most commonly of the people who exist in Alveus are the Inanis.

The Adduco reign has been momentarily vaquished due to those who protected the Gifted city, but now that the seas have calmed and are safe to travel on...they're spreading.

---

Races;
The Inanis are those who have experienced such terror, such anguish in their lives that they have developed an almost eerie lack of emotions. They feel no sadness or happiness or anger. They merely seem to exist. That is not the case however. The Inanis have merely developed such masks that no-one can see through them. They seem emotionless. The Inanis' talents are those to do with the mind. Some can see into your very soul, some can wreak your mind with terror such like you have never known.

More rare, though, are the Gifted. They are the ones who ignore it. They live in a world of peaceful contentment, free from the horror around them. Their powers are that of illusion, of creating monstrous creatures that could destroy everything, but then that disappear at the blink of an eye. They can trick and hypnotise like the Inanis, but they cannot twist others minds.

The Devia are more common but harder to find. They live alone, in the ruined houses left behind by the war. These humans can summon unspeakable demons from the depths of hell, hide in shadows and just disappear. They are the darkness that curls through your mind, slinking in the shadows. They can be innately powerful.

The Fireflies are the most curious and simultaneously famous group, though not the rarest. The Fireflies are those who just stick through it, who keep pushing through with a smile no matter the cost. They never give up. They wield the arcane; they can create glorious swords of pure magic, can teleport vast distances like the Runners and hover as though flying. They are nigh a myth.

The Anima are those who fight with nature, who wish to breathe new life into the world. They fight with animals, with plants long forgotten. They are almost as rare as the Fireflies, and a select few have the power to shapeshift into the most majestic beasts.

The rarest group are the Runners. They are never seen. They are those that try to flee the horror of the war, try to escape the cruelty and pain. They are faster than possible, they can teleport, walk through shadows. They are the perfect assassins, stealthier then one would believe possible. They are considered the free ones, the ones that can exist in their own worlds away from the madness. And they can, for a little while.

The Adduco are those that wish for war. They can craft the most awesome technology out of the tiniest piece of metal, capable of inventing and creating the most horrific war machines, possible of destroying nearly everything, and a select few can control the power of fire. They are the ones whose powers can vary the most.

There are those who have not yet discovered their powers - mere Mortals. Maybe they have not developed precise feelings yet, maybe they just don't particulrly have opinions or maybe they're just late bloomers, but such Mortals are far and few. There are also those who don't fit in to any particular group - the Others - once again rare. They may fit in perfectly to the normal guidelines for a certain species but possess completely different powers or have completely different opinions from anyone else and possess completely different powers or have the same powers as one species and a completely different personality, but, like Mortals, Other are almost impossibly rare.

After the calming of the seas around Alveus, however, new 'races' have been discovered.

There are the Xeno,, also known as Creationists - an incredibly rare race with the ability to create things out of thin air. While they may not be able to keep such things in solid form for very long they can also create sensations or feeling in people for the same amount of time. Despite the fact that such a power seems nice and kind and such the only users ate those who have completely lost their minds. Ah. No-one may actually create a Xeno -, this is merely here for reference. In case anyone is wondering Cinna is actually half Xeno and half Gifted. But he's probably better considered an Other.

Nexi are exactly the opposite. They are able to tear things from existence - permanently if they put enough effort in, but there's often vast consequences for them when that happens. They are those who would destroy the world if only they could end the war. They are so desperate to end it that they would sooner destroy everything first than continue with the fighting. While they are generally rather kind people the Nexi are particularly emotional.

The Presul can manipulate time. They are those who dwell on the past or dream of the future, though they can normally only go back in tome or forward - not both. Some can even pause speed up or slow down time. They are incredibly powerful but often experience great sadness at seemingly random moments, and are often dreamy or lost in thought.

The Plague are a unique group in that their abilities slowly kill everything around them. Wherever they walk things die, plants curl in on themselves and they create horrible, horrible creatures from whatever decaying remains are left. There isn't really a set personality for Plague victims - it seems more of a disease than a power, and as such anyone can be cursed with such a power. They are a mostly unknown species and little, if any information about them has been collected.

The Agon are those who have an unnatural skill in combat. The power can manifest in most everyone, and is fairly common. There aren't really any strict guidelines as to what Agon can and can't do.

Rei are those who can manipulate their bodies - they can transform their entire being into liquid, make themselves so light they can float, sharpen their nails so they resemble knives...they have complete control over every aspect of themselves. It often manifests in those who have high self-esteem.

Then there are the elementals. Fire, earth, wind and water. Each elemental can only control one element, but they can use it brilliantly. It is more often seen in those who dislike company. And stuff.

Finally there are the Prodigys. Those who have a natural talent in the arts or sciences or any such field of work, more so then any natural prodigy could ever hope to be. They are those who study hard and work nonstop. They have great ambition.

And I believe that is all from me.

---

Role-playing Mechanics;
You normally won't have time to wash, to think, to do anything unless you have power enough to frighten potential attackers away from yourself. Alveus is modern, apocalyptic, yes, but modern. Most buildings are torn apart, destroyed by the war. Most, if not all of the shops have been looted. You won't find anything unless you loot someone's dead body.

Powers happen at random - normally triggered by traumatic or particularly emotional events. It is entirely possible to have none, but considering how long the war has been going on now it is incredibly unlikely. Cars exist but most have been ruined. People normally get around by free-running across roofs, through streets or by using your powers.

Probably the only proper 'city' is run by a group of Adduco, fortified by an inane amount of steel and surrounded by technology capable of bringing down even the toughest of fighters. If you are a like-minded person it is fairly easy to make a living there, whether through merchanting or offering yourself out to fight or any number of different occupations. Of course if you slip up just once - break just one rule - you're dead. The city is the only place with shops, and even then they're more like stalls, but most of the buildings have been restored by the Adduco. You don't have to be an Adduco to live there; it's just a ton easier. Anyone else and you'd actually have to prove that you're on their side.

There are other, smaller 'towns' - no where near as technologically advanced but fairly large. They don't have much order but most have a small body of the more intelligent of the survivors who run most things. They normally only accept people of their own 'species', but they're pretty open to new ideas, most of the time.

The Fireflies or Runners, however, either live alone in the ruins of houses or shops or anything, really, or intermingle with a different species’ town. There aren't enough of them to from a town together, and it's unlikely they'll ever meet anyone of the same species.

Powers are purely emotional - it is entirely possible to have a Firefly born to two Adduco. That being said it is likely that the child would've been influenced by their parents, so it's more likely they'll have the same powers.

It is possible but very rare that someone's powers can change. This is only through something that affects their outlook/ emotions so much that their old feelings have been completely torn from them. They will gain new powers, and their old ones will be significantly weaker - if they used to be able to control the shadows the shadows will merely be drawn to them slightly after the change.

---

iii) I retain the right to deny any/all applications that I feel are not up to standard.

vi) Mild swearing is allowed, violence is encouraged. If fights need to be overseen please request. Death happens.
vii) Maximum of four characters.

Things to note;
No Anima, Runners or Fireflies are to be created this time round, unless you had one in the previous rp.

Cinna and Atrox will only be minor characters, so I shan't bother posting their SUs.

There's probably more but meh.

---

Example sign-up;
Name; Tai [tuh-aye] [female]

Age; 18

Species/Side; Inani [partial Other]
Power/s; Hypnosis, mind reading. For some bizarre reson can make any piece of machinery work, but she doesn't normally know anything about the technology behind it.

Personality; Keepa a cool facade - not unfriendly but not welcoming. A partial other - warmer than most Inani, shows more emotions, but not different to the extent she can be considered a full-blown Other yet. She is unnervingly calm in the worst of situations, but tends to be slightly reckless. She is unafraid of death, which is probably one of her most important assets. While she might not be loving and kind towards you if you're friends she will protect you 'till the end - too bad her loyalty is often misplaced. On occasion she's just happy-go-lucky to the point it's not even funny though. It depends, really. After CF Part I she's mellowed out a bit, and is a bit more welcoming.

Appearance; Black hair, sunken eyes, bags. Like most people in Alveus she's a mess. Her hair is short, choppy. Shoulder-length, usually matted with dirt. She appears to never blink, her grey eyes always wide, unmoving. She wears a casual get-up; jeans, a t-shirt and trainers, but her belt is where it's at. Her belt is full of weapons. Grenades, knives, daggers, pistols - it's insane what she can cram in there. Not a good idea to try to fight her unarmed. She also wears a pair of goggles round her neck, for when she has to traverse the more sandy areas and doesn't want said sand in her eyes.

History; She was fine, when the war began. Sure her parents were dead but she was just fine, looking after her younger sister. Until a group of raiders showed up, and in a brutal fight massacared the three year old girl and left her, a 17 year old girl with no powers, to fend for herself, having escaped as they destroyed everything, having already done away with her sister. Her thirst for revenge is horrific.

Skills; Pistol mastery, speed, reconnaisance.

Sexuality; Straight

Theme Song; Numb - Linkin Park, I s'pose.

Profession; Recon/Scout/Spy for the rebels. Part-time merchant, if she finds any loot on her missions.

Feelings about the War; She hates it, so much. It killed her baby sister, after all. She wants to destroy the Devia most of all, though.

Weapons [if any]; Twin daggers, Pistol [advanced model - devised by an Adduco -- even she doesn't know all of it's special features] and whatever's on her belt at the time.

Flaws; Reckless, trusts too easily, she can become warped by what she sees in other people's minds - their views change hers quite drastically sometimes[a side-affect of her power], and each time she uses her Hypnosis she finds it harder and harder not to be lured away to the Adduco's side, to become controlled by the dark power she possesses. Has an obsession with getting revenge on the Devia for her sister's death.

Other; Nothing.

It'd be nice to get some new blood ;)

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Not sure if we have to re-sign up, but one of the new races fits in perfectly with the skillpath I had planned for James, so I'll do it anyway.

Name; James Dasher
Age; 21
Species/Side; Runner. [Partial Presul]
Known Powers; Shadow blending, short-range teleportation, rift (Portal) creation, time freezing [used once].

Personality; Hard to surprise, easy to entertain. He tries to look at the bright side of life as often as he can, though he is not blind to reality. He is slightly paranoid, though no more then another in this world would be. He takes extreme joy out of his skills as a Runner, and values his freedom above all else. When not using his powers (or preparing to), he makes sure his movements don’t betray his skills as to avoid scrutiny. He will not hestitate to take the life of a murderer, but he has a soft spot for thieves and people around his age.
He has recently grown involved with a pair of rebels, and now fights in the war, for better or worse.

Appearance: Tall, lean, well rested. (Which I can imagine is something not always seen in this world.)
His hair is short and a clean shade of blond; ignoring the dirt that tends to get in it by the end of the day. His clothing is nondescript; a long brown coat over a simple long sleeved shirt, its color faded behind the layers of dust and grime. His pants are similarly discolored, which does allow him to blend into his environment quite well. He always carries a bandana with him, which is black and has had very little exposure to the grime that flecks his other clothes. He wears studded black-brown (again, dust) gloves and a small pouch containing a single pistol with 3 bullets in a space separated from the rest of the pouch by cloth.. The main space of the pouch is used to form a rift the size of a hand to pull his small items from inconspicuously. Thanks to the Adduco Forcefield on the beach back home though, he cannot create a rift there, and all his once grounded items are useless.

History: As a boy, he was forced on the run by the war. After several years of escaping and hiding with a small group of other children and three adults, they were found and slaughtered by a group of Adducan. He thought he would die as they mercilessly slaughtered the children, but for some reason he was never seen in the shadowy caves, while the boy who was running right next to him was grabbed and killed instantly.

A full year of hiding later he came to understand the irony of the situation. All those years of running had turned him into what he always had been; A Runner. He quickly realized the bright side of his new situation though; He was free, finally he had the power and the ability to be free while on the run, to hide in plain sight and to outrun any who dared chase him. From this thrill, this enjoyment spawned a sudden understanding of his powers, and in a short while he learned how to “blink” himself to anywhere he could see and to create small tears trough space and time, along with a further mastery of his Shadow Blending; The ability to shroud oneself in shadows to remain invisible.
Since then he has mainly relied on his own cunning and wit to survive, so not much has changed save for one thing; He now stood a chance to survive this cruel world, or at least this war.

In time, he was sent on a parcel delivery job. This took him to a village belonging to the Gifted, where he gained a house, and was sucked into the war by rebels. In the Battle of the Nameless City, he was injected with a powerful neurotoxin that left him in a state of limbo for a while. When he awoke, he still suffered from the mental wounds brought on by the poison.
The combination of being drawn in to fight in the war, the neurotoxin, and the pressure from the Adduco forcefield have disturbed his Runner powers slightly and has started an evolution into a Presul. The first time he used his Presul abilities was by accident on a ship, where he froze himself in time without realizing, only to snap out of it minutes later.

Skills; Agility, of both the mind and the body. Pickpocketing. Assassination. Hiding. Moving quickly, by means ‘magical’ or otherwise. Good observational skills, and well honed reflexes.

Sexuality; Straight.

Theme Song; World without worries – Racoon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiFgZrur5mE

Profession; Odd jobs; Will take up (nearly) any job if the pay is right.

Feelings about the War; He doesn't enjoy the war and he still values life as much as he ever did, but now he has the conviction that life must return to a proper order, the way it once was, before the war. He still looks back on his pre-fighting life with a smile though, and wishes he could just stay in that time forever.

Weapons; Two Pis knives secreted in his clothing, along with a total of 32 throwing knives. Thin wire for strangling, a short sword secreted in an underground cave (Which is where the rifts in his pouch open.) and a crossbow with 35 bolts, also in the cave. The sword and the crossbow are unreachable at this moment though, as the Adduco forcefield blocks any rift networks from reaching the mainland.

Flaws; Overconfident to the point of thinking himself bulletproof, reckless, hesitant in taking life. His Shadow blending requires constant movement for it to shroud him from vision, but wont cover his sound, while if he stand still, it will shroud his thoughts but not his body (well). And the skill requires a body of shadows large enough to conceal him.

Rifts cannot be created haphazardly; He needs to have an item “Grounded” to a location to safely create a rift that won’t end in a random location, while a large rift is intensely hard to sustain and has to be ‘torn’ open physically. They generally don’t stay open for more then 2 seconds, and without a grounded item may well place him in the sky or under ground, killing him as he leaves it.

Teleportation, or ‘blinking’, is highly dangerous if the target location is not in the line of sight, as he might blink himself into a wall, and be killed by it going trough his body\organs. The maximum range of his blinking is approximately 30 feet. Beyond that, it simply won’t work.

Other: He hasn't 'awoken' as a Presul yet, but only used an ability by accident, in a wrong way. He has no idea he even has the power.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Nice to see someone from the original rp has returned :'D

Accepted, of course.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Name [first&last]; Jakku Ebansu
Age [preferably between 14-21]; 16
Species/Side [e.g. Devia/Runner; the rarer 'species' must be requested first]; Anima
Power/s [if i feel you've gone overboard your application will be denied]; rarely uses weapons, prefering to use fists. Can shapeshift, but not strongly enough to transform his whole body. Can grow jet black raven wings, although not when low on strength. After Catching Fireflies, Jakku has decided to focus more on weapons he can use in the air, such as throwing knives and shruiken.
Personality [remember to keep with the basic personality of your 'species']; tries to conceal powers, but fails generally. Is looking for the remnants of nature after the apocalypse, and has found a treasure he hopes will restore it, but needs to find the temple where it must be used.
Appearance; Bullet grey hair, grey cloak around shoulders. climbing boots, with jeans and a dark shirt, torn at the back due to the wings.
History [not much is needed for this - if the rest of your application is good enough you will not need to fill it in]; Born to two Adduco, he was noticeably emotionally different to the other Adduco children. He left during an attack against the town he was living in, to travel the world. He thinks he may be insane, as Nature itself appears in his dreams, calling at him to find her. In Catching Fireflies, Jakku discovered he actually had had family, actual Anima like himself, but they were killed by the Adduco, and he fled when he was young.
Skills [e.g. climbing]; Freerunning, Climbing, fistfighting.
Sexuality; Straight.
Theme Song [it helps us get to know your character]; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=944E2kT1oes
Minuet of forest
Profession [e.g. merchant, none, fighter]; None, sells his services as goods transporter using his wings in exchange for goods or services. Occasional mercenary/spy too. Has recently become more of a Resistance Fighter in an endeavour to impress Atrox.
Feelings about the War; Jakku discovered in Catching Fireflies his clan, the true Ebansu, were killed in an organised attack. He hates Adduco.
Weapons [if any]; A small dagger, mainly used as a tool. Prefers to use fists, and surprise. A variety of kunai and shruiken, taken from a resistance base before part 1.
Flaws [e.g. clumsy, unobservant]; Can be easily tricked, doesn't really care for other humans.
Other; He's wanted in several Adduco areas, as it is believed he is insane and dangerous, and for his spy and mercenary works for rivals.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Accepted, obviously.

Oh look - a new character to make up for the sort-of loss of Cinna and Atrox :D

Name [first&last]; Lennox Altire

Age [preferably between 14-21]; 17

Species/Side [e.g. Devia/Runner etc.]; Lennox is an Other with the ability to absorb the powers of those he's killed. With each kill he loses less and less of his humanity, along with other, more dangerous side-affects. He's incredibly powerful.

Power/s; The ability to absorb the powers of those he's (personally) killed. As to which powers he's absorbed?...that's for me to know and for you to work out.

Personality; Lennox was brought up knowing that everyone could become corrupt given the right incentive, and that people were made to be manipulated.

Lennox is cunning and quick-witted, having realised at a young age that if he wasn't exactly athletic he better become intelligent, lest he be trodden on.

He comes off as cold, and quite often cruel to people, mocking them for no apparent reason. His parents taught him how to convince people to do as he said, a skill that, when coupled with his surprising intellect, made him a force to be reckoned with.

Lennox doesn't really think of others as sentient beings - just toys - and treats them as such. He doesn't mind if people get hurt by his actions, so long as it means he can have his way.

He is incredibly good at strategising, but rather stubborn, and insistent upon being overly cautious, refusing to act recklessly even if he is in grave danger.

He doesn't trust people full stop, and people often dislike him for the way he ignores most everyone. He can be kind, when he has developed enough of a relationship with someone, but in his eyes they will never be his 'friends' - the best you can get with Lennox is to become an 'ally'.

He has a slight problem with OCD when symmetrical things are involved - he dislikes asymmetric things and will often waste time trying to make them perfectly symmetrical, and occasionally downright refuses to do things if it would result in the destruction of something perfectly symmetrical.

He is a quick-thinker, but most everything he does relies on logic or fact. While he can be imaginative when forced he is not naturally creative, and it can be difficult to force him to think 'outside the box' if it seems illogial to.

He's fast at nearly everything - quick on his feet, quick witted and quick to stereotype and make decisions about people. Most everything he feels about others is based on his first impressions of them as a person, and it's nigh impossible to change his views after he has decided them.

He does not lose his temper easily, one should be pleased to note, and has a knack for staying calm in the most dangerous of situations. That being says he has a habit of immediately resorting to violence - he feels that the best way to get rid of a threat is to completely eradicate it.

He often volunteers to use his own gun in such instances.

Lennox is also untrustworthy. While he is an incredibly gifted actor he is compltely disloyal, and not at all adverse to stabbing people in the back if they give him reason to.

He's also conceited - arrogant and full of himself. It makes him foolish - he readily believes that his ideas are the best, the most suitable, no matter the circumstances.

He's completely self-reliant, independent to a fault. He has nothing to fall back on if everything goes wrong, but he somehow manages to convince himself he doesn't need others.

He's sure he'll be perfectly fine on his own.

He is darkly cynical, and almost everything he says is followed by a sarcastic remark or degrading insult.

That being said he more often than not pretends to be incredibly kind so he can manipulate people later down the road.

Appearance; Lennox is about 6 foot two, and rather pale-skinned. He's rather thin and quite frankly frail, but he's incredibly agile even if he isn't gifted with incredible strength. Lennox has a lithe figure, and his bones are rather prominent - mostly his cheekbones - and it gives him an almost aristocratic appearance.

His hair is a light blonde colour that's just a bit shorter than shoulder-length, and fairly neat, although it has a habit of becoming quite ruffled when he has to move quickly or he becomes stressed. He doesn't have a visible fringe, though his hair doesn't fall in his eyes or some other such nonsense.

Said eyes are a cool grey, and are probably his most memorable feature. They're fairly large, but he often prefers to keep them lidded so as not to draw unwanted attention to himself.

His body is all sharp edges - he doesn't have any visible fat nor muscles. If one were to draw him it's unlikely there'd be any curved lines used whatsoever. It reflects his personality, to an extent.

Lennnox was brought up with a silver spoon in his mouth, and his clothes reflect that brilliantly. He wears a plain white Tuxedo, with a pale green shirt underneath. He uses a plain black belt to secure his trousers (plain white, again), and wears a pair of formal black shoes, more suited for a wedding than anything else.

He also wears a matching green tie, but it's not unusual for him to end up taking it off because it irritates him so.

He literally cannot stoop - his head is always held high, and he looks down on people no matter who they are. His back is always straight, and his posture always has to be perfect.

His mouth is nearly always curved down slightly in a grimace, a flat line on his face or a slight smirk - Lennox doesn't show emotions easily, and even when he does they're still hard to distinguish.

He is a rather good actor, after all. He knows how to wear a mask and act the part.

Whenever he walks each step seems to be precise, each of his actions planned before time. Every time his feet hit the floor there will be a pronounced click as his (rather posh) shoes fall against the ground below him.

He has a penchant for dramatics.

History; It would ruin things, you sillies. I'll just leave you in the dark for now.

Skills; It would reveal too much, I fear.

Sexuality; Bisexual

Theme Song; You're Gonna' Go Far Kid - The Offspring

Profession; Assassin for hire and a courier, amongst other things.

Feelings about the War; ...well, that's personal.

Weapons; Twin daggers, revolver, god-only-knows how many throwing knives, grenades...and more, unfortunately.

Flaws; Manipulative, untrusting, stubborn, overly cautious, cruel, dishonest - he's got an awful lot of flaws and I'd rather not list them all.

Other; He can play the violin :3

Power/s [if i feel you've gone overboard your application will be denied]; manipulation of mechanics. In short, Macgyvering stuff.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Going to try for 2 chars this time :D

Name: Ember Scorchstone
Age 18
Species/Side : Fire elemental (duh) (Part Agon?)
Power/s : Fire creation, partial body transformation (into flames), fire propulsion, fire manipulation (shape, temperature)
Personality : A hothead in both meanings of the words. She's a temperamental woman and can't really stand being around (talkative) people, just as people quickly grow weary of being around her (due to her temper tantrums and rudeness). She is a spoiled child at heart, as she's used to getting whatever she wants one way or another, and can get sad/angry easily if she doesn't. She is brutal in combat though and will burn a man from the inside out and watch the body burn and dry and crack apart without flinching. She won't stand for being ordered around by anyone who hasn't earned either her respect or affection, and she tends to make a show of her powers when moving to make sure people don't bug her.

Appearance: She has long brown hair, though her eyes are a deep crimson. Her overall appearance is slim and her face is narrow. She generally looks attractive, but her face - when not covered in flame - is almost always settled in a scowl. Her clothing consists of a black ragged t-shirt and torn jeans, which seem to be able to fully resist her flames. She carries a steel spirally two-bladed sword on her waist, which she usually lights on fire when using it. She claims it's for the effect, as the guard is shaped like a dragons mouth, and the flames then seem like they are spewed by the dragon, but it actually improves the blades overall destructive power by quite a bit. She is barefoot and wears a moon pendant on a simple necklace.

History: Nothing specific. She has been able to use her abilities since she can remember and she's gotten by by stealing and living off the land. She stole her sword off an old swordsmith who 'wanted' her, and when he tried to make her pay for the sword with the only type of money she had, she burnt him to a crisp. Beyond that, she's only ever killed people - raiders for the most part - in self defense. She traveled a lot, even going from island to island trough the air, and realized one thing; People suck. They are selfish, annoying and noisy, so the best thing she can do is simply to stay true to herself, never listen to another, and trick people as they would trick her if they had the chance.

Skills; Lieing, stealing, hunting, fishing and yes, cooking. She also has a talent for combat and using her fire skills in both combat situations and her daily life. She can also tell when she is being lied to.
Sexuality; Straight
Theme Song : It's not my time - 3 doors down
Profession : Thief
Feelings about the War; She hardly knows it exists; There is always war, some wars are simply bigger then others.
Weapons: Twin-bladed dragon sword.
Flaws [e.g. clumsy, unobservant]; Rash, violent, impatient. Not the brightest person ever when it comes to alot of things that aren't directly related to human nature and survival.
Other; she can sing extremely well :D!

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

:/ I mentioned before that more Runners, Fireflies or Anima were to be made unless you had one in the previous rp, so for now you're denied.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

oh sorry didn't see that part...I really struggle with small writing

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

EDIT; Meh, fixed it up as best I could :/

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

I changed Elsea's SU a bit since she's not really how it describes her being. I suck at making Sign Ups is the real issue here.

Name;Elsea Wilder
Age;16
Species;Anima
Powers; She can summon animals, but depending upon the size of the animal is how much it drains her.
Personality;Elsea is very shy around people she doesn't know very well, but once she warms up to you she'll act normal. She's very intelligent but is sometimes afraid to speak her mind to strangers unless you really cross her. She has a positive outlook on everything, and believes that no matter how bad things get they have to at some point get better.
Appearance;Elsea is 5'7 with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes that are the color of ice. She wears an old, worn out sweatshirt that is a faded blue color and tattered brown pants. She has a bracelet made of braided grass. She wears a pair of brown fur lined boots.
History;Elsea lived with her parents until their death. As a child she preffered to play in the heavily wooded areas surrounding her home with the animals, or with her family's dog. She didn't get along well with other kids becuase she didn't know how to act with them. Becuase of that she was treated as an outcast. After her parents died she left her home and lived in the trees with the squirrels and other wild creatures.
Skills;Elsea is able to climb trees as well as the squirrels can.
Sexuality;Straight.
Theme Song;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nnjkb4q6FKU
Profession;None
Feelings about the War; Elsea hates it, but hopes it will end soon in the favor of Evan and his team.
Weapons;A bow and a quiver of arrows.
Flaws;Sometimes being shy, a bit rash.

Name;Miami Summers

Age;18

Species;Other

Power/s;Whenever feeling strong or sudden emotions such as rage or deppression her 'dark side' takes over and she becomes a monster, pretty much killing or maiming all in sight. This includes friends/allies/family.
Personality; Miami is distrustful, but if you manage to win her trust she will be loyal to the end. She's very meek and skittish, preffering to hide from people and not be seen. She views those who call themselves 'brave' and throw themsleves into pointless battles as fools.

Appearance; Miami has long, fiery red hair. Her eyes are a soft brown color. Miami wears a slightly torn blue tee shirt, covered by a worn brown leather jacket that used to be her fathers. She wears tan cargo pants, the pockets being stuffed with many things she's found on her travels. She wears old fur lined hunting boots, and carries a black and white backpack.

History; Miami was one of the many children in her town who witnessed the massacre when the Adduco invaded. She was also one of the unfortunate ones who lived. She gained her 'power' after seeing her twin sister slaughtered, and being overcome by grief attacked him. Prior to this though she had lived a happy life with her family, her life full of bliss and inocence. It probably came as such a shock to her to see her parents and siblings murdered because she hadn't been aware that the Adduco were coming.

Skills;Lying, stealing, and hiding.

Sexuality;Straight

Theme Song;'Monster' by Skillet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mjlM_RnsVE

Profession;Theif

Feelings about the War;Absolutley hates the Adduco, but has no clue who she'd rather have in charge.

Weapons;Scythe, and a small dagger tucked in her boot.

Flaws; Is often ruled by her emotions, rendering her helpless.

I might make a third character just to start "fresh".

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

I'm probably going to end up with more characters then I can cope with.

But that's okay because I'll be killing one of them off soon enough.

...I may have to make another 'cause I want one I can just use for messing about with :'D

I don't want all my characters to be relevant to the plot.

EDIT; Oh and accepted, of course.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Name: Evan Nates

Age: 17

Species/Side: Inani, has some Prodigy from before the Adduco attacked.

Power: Evan can make himself appear to anyone as anything at all. While he does not alter his own physical form, the perceptions of the target are altered so he looks like whatever he wants. This can be a specific person, living or dead, real or fictional, or a thing, such as a tiger or a desk. He can also be something more vague, such as whatever a given person fears most, or the target's first love. He can also rewrite a person's beliefs to make them think he's who he's taken the form of. With this, he can make a person think he's their parent, or he doesn't even exist. However, while it can theoretically work forever, after about 24 hours, it begins to weaken, and the person begins to notice something is up. They're still under the effect, but will get suspicious, and can possibly break Evan's hold, if he does stuff that's out of character. Also, this function only works on one person at a time. Finally, due to once being a Prodigy, he has an extremely fast reading rate, at 10 pages a minute, and has incredible comprehension and memory for things he reads.

Personality: Evan, while he hides many of his emotions, is very irritable, due to insomnia, a side effect of his powers, which cause him to constantly think, to the point where he finds it hard to sleep. He finds people who bother him while he's thinking or working hard on something particularly grating, and even when they've done nothing wrong, he mocks them endlessly. He's quite vicious as well, and quite enjoys using his inventions to harm those who he feel deserve to be harmed. However, he can be genuinely compassionate, though he tries to hide it.

Appearance: His appearance reflects his devotion to his work quite well: He's willing to sacrifice it for his work as leader of a rebel group. He hasn't cut his white-blonde hair in over a year, and thus it goes down past his shoulders.. He usually wears a white button shirt, a black tie, and black slacks. He never wears shoes if he can help it, and when he can't, he usually wears sandals. He's fairly average as far as height goes at about 6 feet tall, and has a fairly slender build. Due to the aforementioned insomnia, he also has dark rings beneath his eyes. Recently, he gained a new power, which converted his normally green left eye into a white orb with a black spiral in it instead of a pupil, which he covers with a bandage wrapped around his head.

History: Evan was born to a pair of Inani, though he was a Prodigy himself. However, he lost his mother to an attack by Adduco, and his father was executed for standing up to the rulers. This, led him to become an Inani, masking his emotions to avoid his father's fate.

Skills: Evan can cook fairly well, and knows some first aid as well. He also is moderately good at fixing things. He recently started to train in wieling a knife, and has taken to practicing with his gun in his battleship's marksmanship range.

Sexuality: Straight

Theme Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3F-WORz8H4

Profession: Leader of a group planning to end the Adduco's reign, which consists of Eliot, Elsea, and Miami.

Feelings about the War: Like the Adduco, he believes it is necessary, though in a different way: He believes that, one day, there will be a war that, in the end, has brought all the world's people under it's rule. He doesn't necessarily like it, but sees it as inevitable, and is now in the process of personally initiating it.

Weapons: He carries a 9mm semi-automatic, as well as a knife he stole from Cinna after removing all of his clothes and taking pictures.

Flaws: Is kind of mean, fairly vindicative, never lies to spare others feelings, or even tells them nicely. Somewhat amoral.

Other: With Eliot's help, they converted the wreckage of the submarine he tried to capture into an airship, using Eliot's Firefly abilities to create chains to lift it out of the water. They then painted it with suns, moons, rainbows, flowers, and all sorts of other cool stuff, filled the cockpit, which had had it's rooftop and top floor blown off, with dirt. There, they planted a garden with orange trees, lemon trees, avocado trees, pumpkins, potatoes, and green beans. Also, Evan built a primitive windmill to generate electricity.

Name: Eliot Nadel

Age: 16

Species: Firefly

Powers: He has two: He can absorb the sun's energy, and emit it as sharp, rainbow chains. These chains are constantly moving, and will cut like a chainsaw when touched by anyone but Eliot. He can also grow parts of his clothing, such as his sleeves, and move them around.

Appearance: At exactly six foot two, Eliot's a little tall. He has fairly long blue hair. He usually dresses in formal styles, and has nicer clothes than most, as he dedicates most of his time to finding nice ones. He usually wears a tuxedo vest, button up shirt, tie, slacks, and dress shoes, with a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses over his eyes. He recently acquired a fedora, which he wears religiously.

Personality: While the shock of leaving his parents caused him to regress back to childhood, Eliot is back to his old self. He's a hedonist to the core. He loves women, money, and candy, although he often mistakes girly looking men for the former. However, he can be genuinely nice, and even selfless at times. He is extremely spirited and outgoing too, and likes to make friends with everyone.

History: Eliot was born to a pair of Fireflies, and decided to strike out on his own when they got tired of stopping to find clothes every few hours, Fortunately, he now has enough so that he has a buffer between trips, and can repair them himself. He eventually met Evan, and began travelling with him, acting as Evan's bodyguard, while Evan used his smarts to find him some clothes and stop him from getting lost.

Skills: Finding and repairing clothing, can tie cherry stems in a knot with his tongue. He's also fairly good with melee weaponry, such as swords and hammers.

Sexuality: Mostly straight.

Theme Song:

Profession: Works with Evan.

Feelings about the War: He doesn't like it much, and wishes everyone could all just get along.

Weapons: None, except his powers.

Flaws: He's not very observant, and fairly absent minded. He's also somewhat lacking in common sense, though he does have reasonable book smarts.

Also, Evan's been recruiting most anyone who'll join and isn't obviously out to kill him, so if anyone wants to make their guys have joined up with him before this chapter began, just say the word.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Accepted, obviously.

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Cool. By the way, since SamEdwards quit, doesn't that mean that an Anima spot opened, and Ebansu can have one?

Re: You Won't Feel A Thing [Part II of the Catching Fireflies saga] [SU's open]

Hmmmrf. I'm hesitant, if only because I was lenient with Anima places last time. I gave Daddy Warbucks one when I'd already said no more were to be made...but I s'pose it'd only be fair.

So, if ebansu reads this you're now accepted, if you still want to be xD
