I just woke up for some reason and was completely unable to get back to sleep. I went to bed about five hours ago. I had this really weird dream about working in this strange warehouse with a whole bunch of papers and a maze of strange metal structures, and we would have to climb a lot to reach what we were supposed to be doing. It was somewhat like a warehouse job I had a couple summers ago, except that the size of everything was increased tenfold.
I had grabbed on to some strange piece of metal when all of a sudden all the lights went out (this had happened pretty often, they went out for some reason every ten or so minutes), making the entire warehouse pitch black. I heard people yelling "LIGHTS", myself included, throughout the warehouse and then they would come back on. Some poor soul probably had to navigate through the maze to find the nearest light switch. This also was an element of the warehouse job I had before, except the lights only went off one floor at a time in the structure.
Anyway, this time the lights didn't come on again for a while. Then, all of a sudden the strange metal I was holding on to started sparking and glowing in my hand. I dropped it and it slowly fell to the ground, where sparks shot all over. At this point I began to wake up because my hand was hurting pretty badly. It was quite interesting. I climbed on top of the structure and I was talking to a couple people, but at that point my dream started to end as I floated into the realm of conscious thought.
I thought about my old warehouse job and about the people who owned it, and about how kickass it would be to see people freerunning through those tiny halls and rows and rows of boxes. I somehow came to start thinking about what my dream job would be, and laughed to myself about how I was thinking about a dream job right after I had a job dream.
My dream job would most definitely be to own a used CD store. I would buy CDs from people and then resell them. I'd also deal in DVDs and video games. These places usually have the coolest people to talk to, and anyone who would work there obviously loves music, and that would make for a great atmosphere. There is a used CD store that I frequent not terribly far from where I live, and I make it a point to go there quite often. Some of them recognize me as soon as I enter, or at least know me as "that ska kid".
I eventually, however, got to thinking about all that would block my path to acquire this delightful little store. What would be the cheapest way to house all the CDs? Where in the world would I GET enough CDs to justify opening a store in the first place? And finally, how in the hell am I going to get enough money to get that many CDs?
Oh well. Maybe someday I will have enough money for it. I'd still probably need about $60,000 to start up though. Maybe I'll take out a few loans.
So, Bulba Garden, tell me: What would YOUR dream job be?
