I don't see any thread like this so I created this.. And I am kinda desperate for manga since I will be having long term of break.. So I am going to see which manga has most favorite and I might try to read it..

My top4 manga:
1. Naruto (Trust me, it's a lot better than the anime)
2. Death Note
3. Liar Game
4. Bloody Monday

My favourite manga is probably Bleach, with Death Note following a close second. I do like Death Note, it just becomes a bit overwhelming after a while. Plus, Bleach is a lot funnier, if not as clever.
Humour is always better than intelligence, in a book. Not in real life. Never.

I haven't caught up with more recent series, but I do have some personal favorites that I read over and over.

- Wish (CLAMP): Oh goodness, it's a short series (only 4 volumes) but it makes me cry every time I read it. Keep the Kleenex close by the last 2 volumes . . . but yeah, angels, demons, love and loss . . . it's sweet and sad at the same time. <3
- Shaman King: I really need to catch up with this one, but I prefer the manag over the series (although the anime is really good too). It's got action, drama, comedy . . . everything. Is very good stuff.
- Chobits (another CLAMP series . . . *is a sucker for CLAMP, I swear*): Just THIS. I love this series. The anime is also good, but the manga is LOVE.
- Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (CLAMP~ . . . again?): EPIC WIN. I think you can figure out why I love it.
- Tokyo Mew Mew: Dammit, I love magical girls. The manga is completely cutely cute, but I can't help but to read it over and over. (that and the manga > anime . . . including the short-sequel series, "TMM a la Mode" . . . which is horrid in a way. I prefer the original series over "a la Mode", so . . . XD)

But I have some more, but I can't think of them at the moment . . .

auuurgh, such common mangas on these lists so far...

So I give you my favorites, all of which are lesser known series:

-Maker Hikoushiki Hatsune Mikkusu: It's Miku. I like it. Period.
-Shakugan no Shana: Shana = Awesome.
-Welcome to the NHK!: an amazing story, interesting characters, and all wrapped up in sort of odd, but still amazing, artwork.
-Rozen Maiden: Dollies that come to life to prove who is the best? PEACH-PIT? Count me in!
-Yotsuba&!: an adorable story about a little girl who's hair looks like a four-leaf-clover. She's sweet, adorable, and hilarious, and that plus the artist behind Azumanga Daioh makes one great manga.
-Karin/Chibi Vampire: Barring the retarded name change for the english translation, this story is amazing. A "reverse vampire" Karin falls in love with a human. This series is full of hilarious scenes and a great romance.
-Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl: My obligatory Yuri series. This series is much different from the common type of Yuri series. Hazumu starts the story as a guy and ends up being turned into a girl by aliens, but he (or she, as the case would be now) still likes girls! The entire time it's a tug of war between Tomari and Yasuna about who ends up with Hazumu, and ends with a great finish.
-Magical x Miracle: A magic-school manga, it centers around Merleawe, who is mistaken for a boy. And not just any boy, but the Master Wizard! Some great humor and an amazing story, plus the artwork is spectacular. The last volume is my favorite, it's such an amazing ending. ♥

~ Shugo Chara
I am only slightly ashamed to admit this. =.=;; But goddamn do I love Shugo Chara. Though I'm basically only in it for the adorable supporting characters. [nikaidou & kairi & tadase & nagi... aww]
~ Death Note
This series was what got me back into anime & manga. I don't think anything has ever had as much impact on my life than Death Note has. ilu light~~
~ Beauty Pop
This manga is so underrated. Yeah, so it's about cutting hair, but it's done in a way that makes it interesting. Plus, Kiri is by far the best shoujo heroine ever. She's just so unique.
~ Fullmetal Alchemist
Not gonna lie - I like it way more than the anime. :x I think it's more dramatic & emotional, and my favorite character [KIMBLEY♥] was done a lot better. Soyeah.
~ Dramacon
Idek if this counts, but whatevs. It's just so cute. <3 And it greatly appeals to me otaku sensibilities~
~ Fruits Basket
Just for old times' sake. c:
~ Soul Rescue
ONLY TWO VOLUMES WHYYY. ;A; I lovelovelove this manga, but the mangaka decided to cut it short at only two volumes, and it has this terrible unfinished feel to it. /sad panda

. . . How did I forget THIS??? [ ;___; ] I bought almost all of the manga too, but I've been reading it. The Furuba manga is TEN TIMES better than the anime (as much as I love that too). Thank you for bringing this up! <3

-Chrono Crusade It is a very rare thing that I buy an manga and have to go and buy the rest of it the same night. This was one of those series. I adore this one.
-Elemental Gelade Fun series, and I really like the artwork and character designs. Wish we didn't have to drag the English releases out of Tokyopop.
-Fullmetal Alchemist Every volume is so action packed and gripping. It's probably my favorite long running series.
-Good Witch of the West Obscure, but I love it. Tokyopop stopped publishing it with one volume to go, and I loved this series enough that I went and bought the 7th in Japanese and got a friend to translate it. It's that worth it.
-Ouran High School Host Club I love shoujo, and I love shoujo parodies even more. This has the best of both.
-Pokemon Adventures Kind of typical for a pokemon board, but this really is one of my favorite manga. I love how the characters grow and the whole feel of it really represents what I love about pokemon, both the games and the world.
-Record of a Fallen Vampire I picked this one up because I liked the art and was on a vampire kick, and kept reading because every volume has a ridiculous twist to the story that left me feeling incredulous. It's really awesome.
-Sugar Princess WHY ARE THERE ONLY TWO VOLUMES!?!?! I need more.
-Wanted A one volume story by one of my favorite artists, about pirates. What's not to like, other then there not being more?

That's just a sampling of ones I saw on my shelf that really stood out, I pretty much love all of the manga I've read or else I wouldn't have read them.

Right now I really only follow Fullmetal Alchemist XD Oh and Pokèmon Special but only online..

I like:
- FMA (For some reason my local comic store STILL hasn't gotten volume 20! I read it all online of course but I like buying the graphic novels as well. Gotta support the company, besides I prefer to have them printed so I can read them anywhere.)
- Death Note.
- Vampire Knight (try to follow this but I keep forgetting how far I've got and then they miss that one book on the store:p)
Shaman King (I had a subsription for a Norwegian release but it was cancelled... I should go get the American version)
- Chibi Vampire (Still don't own any of the books but I read the whole thing online XD)
- Hellsing (I only own and read one book oddly... Is anyone but me noticing a vampire-theme? XD)

Favorite? That's a tough call; I'm pretty much split halfway between Great Teacher Onizuka and Love Hina. Both are wonderfully hilarious and have truly inspiring, beautiful stories to tell at the same time. ^^

Negima! Magister Negi Magi is really good too (can you tell I'm an Akamatsu Ken fan?), and of course Death Note is always a good choice as well. Really, in general comedy and suspense tend to appeal to me over most action manga.

This'll probably seem odd, but I really love Magic Knight Rayearth. I just think Zagato is the most beautiful Clamp character EVER the characters are cute, fun, and I really love the artwork. <3

I enjoyed Death Note up until L died, then I wasn't as interested in it anymore. (I didn't like Near... or Light's fangirl what's-her-name.)

I also really like Pokemon Special... And DPA. xD I haven't read any of the other Pokemon manga but that's because I can't find them. =/

I'm in love with One Piece, but it would take so much time to catch up. They're on ch568! I like it because it doesn't take itself too seriously- there's plenty of badassery (is that word allowed? I'm pretty new here) but the whole scenario and the character's powers are totally ridiculous, which somehow just makes everything better. Though, personally, I think the anime is better. And I'll second the vote for Ouran High School Host Club if you even remotely like shoujo, or even if you don't. Fun stuff.

But judging by your current tastes, I think your best bet is:
Kuroshitsuji- gorgeous costuming, handsome men, set in Victorian England= all good. Lots of elegant, violent, surprisingly creative, permanent deaths= pretty well executed. But what really impressed me about this series was that the plot twists were genuinely surprising and unexpected. Like, I didn't realize how formulaic and predictable the "surprise" plot devices in other series were until I came across this one.

Without a doubt, my favourite manga is Mahou Sensei Negima! by Ken Akamatsu. It's got magic, comedy, action... (and a little fanservice.) I really like the plot and the characters, and it's great the way he's clearly got everything planned out. After events happen you can go back and see foreshadowing from ages ago, and the whole thing links together brilliantly. It starts off seeming like a simple comedy/harem type piece; apparently, the editors were on to Ken to follow up his Love Hina success. But the way it evolves into an epic fantasy is great. I highly recommend it.

Lolx.. A lot chose Death Note.. XD Well.. Mahou Sensei isn't that bad.. But I got real bored during Rakan vs Negi.. They just can't.. End.. (=_=")

Love Hina and Your and My Secret.

I enjoyed Death Note up until L died, then I wasn't as interested in it anymore. (I didn't like Near... or Light's fangirl what's-her-name.)
I have only seen the Death Note anime. When watching it, I did not like Near, either. He was a poor man's copy of L. However, despite L's death and Near's entrance into the series, I still found Death Note entertaining, since Mello and Mikami kept me amused.

In relation to Light's fangirl, her name is Misa. From what I understand, she is quite disliked in the Death Note fandom. I thought she was an unimpressive character (she was a watered down version of Harley Quinn, who I love), but I did not dislike her.

"Hikaru no Go", hands down. Best story I've ever read.

Hellsing is my number one, as you can pretty much tell from my avatar... I mean, vampires AND Nazis? It's way too good to pass up.
Death Note has always been one of my favourites as well. The idea of seeing a mystery through the eyes of the murderer was amazing.
Alice 19th is also amazing. It's got the Alice in Wonderland motif up to the point where they're going into people's souls.
Godchild has, simply, an epic storyline.
And, of course, being a yaoi fan, I love Under Grand Hotel. It's basically Shawshank Redemption + Yaoi.

. . . How did I forget THIS??? [ ;___; ] I bought almost all of the manga too, but I've been reading it. The Furuba manga is TEN TIMES better than the anime (as much as I love that too). Thank you for bringing this up! <3
I just read the last volume the other day. I cried. ;_;

I'm a huuge manga person more than anime for some reason and this is my top 10 favorite list:
10 TIE: Paradise Kiss and Dragon Knight-I feel like this should go to Paradise Kiss but I just didnt want to leave off an old favorite. Paradise Kiss is honestly one of the most well drawn mangas I've ever seen. It was short but it had a whole lot of heart and emotion. Dragon Knight is good lots of great characters and stuff but it isnt very good at being clear. I understand the story very well but thats just because I read though each volume like 5 times. Its a great read if your patient. It has a wonderfully original story as well.
9. Dragon Ball- Now let me clarify here: I am not a fan for Dragon Ball Z. I am merely a fan of the original series. It was jokey sorta series and just all around fun.
8. Azumanga Daioh-This is a manga that makes me smile everytime I read it. I first read it at the age of 14 and thought it was great then around the time I graduated I bought the complete book. when I read though it this time I felt different. Like it wasnt just the story of the girls it was a story of the fun times I had in high school as well with my friends.
7. Fruits Basket-I always forget how much I love this series until I start reading it again. Everybit of wisdom said by a character was always put into my heart as something I should consider. After I started reading it though I noticed that I started to become even more like Tohru than I already was. XD
6. Buddha-This was my first Osamu Tezuka story and my favorite of his. I had never seen anything like his storytelling and yet I knew I saw it everywhere. Although the emotional whiplash took a while for me to get used to I realized that the story knew when to be serious and when to joke. Its a rarity taht something so religious ends up being so accessible but thats just how good an artist he was.
5. Mars-Read this as a recommendation from a friend. And I must say Wow. I instantly saw bits of me in the main girl and I found myself wanting to know more and more about these characters. I cant sy I didnt want to hit them at times for being stupid but in the end I knew it was just because I grew to love them so much
4. Video Girl Ai-When I took this home from the library I kinda expected something sorta smutty instead I found a rich story based off a smutty idea. When I read this I couldnt help but feel every emotion everyone was feeling. I even had to put the last few volumes down many times because I couldnt deal with the heart break. Plus it gave me one of my favorite side characters in anything.(Natsumi in case anyone was wondering)
3. GTO-This one surprised me. I can honestly say I never expected to fall in love with it. There was just a charm in Onizuka that I couldnt help but enjoy not to mention the surrounding characters. Not only this but all the craziness was just really fun to see.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist-I feel weird having this at number 2 but what can I say no manga has ever caught my attention quite like this one. The art is great the story is fantastic and I cant help but put all the characters(even the complete monsters) in a special place in my heart. Te only downside is I refuse to read this one online so I'm way behind the past few volumes and I have to avoid spoilers like the plague.
1. Kodocha-The second manga I ever read and to this day still my favorite. I dont think I could ever say why I love it so much but what can I say its left the biggest impression on me and I'll read it a thousand times over again
