I'm surprised we don't have one of these already.

Post what your first card is, and a picture if you want, here.

Mine was a level 40 Lucario. I would post a picture, but I've lost it since then.

My friend showed me the cards at school one day and gave me some of his extras. The first one he gave me was a Base Charmander (this was back when the TCG was new). I took a handful of cards home and laid them all out on the floor and looked at them and read everything. I wanted my own deck to learn how to play correctly so I bought one later on.

lol mine was alalkasmam got it whean i got the frist pokemon movie then i lost it but i was 5 lol that was 7 years ago

My first was a Base Set Mewtwo I found laying around my neighbors house. They let me keep it, and I still have it in a plastic sleeve today, along with my first holo card:a Cyndaquil

I'm sure there's a few people, such as myself, whose first card was simply given to them by a friend or otherwise obtained outside of a booster, though.

That's why I said "could've fit that thread", not "this is the same as the other thread". I don't see why there should be two threads that are so similar.

Holo Suicune from Neo Revelation.

It's funny because I pulled it from a Suicune pack.

Funny story. This was back when Pokemon had first come out and all the kids are church were talking about how Satanic it was, how it promoted witchcraft, demon controlling, talismans, the whole shebang. My parents made it clear they were fine if I gave it a chance since they didn't see anything sinister about it, but since none of the kids I hung with at the time liked it, I never really got into it until one fateful night...

It was an old, run down, white brick building. The entire inside was a sterile shade of white, lots of brown upholstered chairs in rows. My mom and her sister were a part of a bluegrass band and it was one of their performances. For some reason, this large building had atmosphere to me. As a kid, the smell of the burgers inside, the broken Pac Man machine in the corner... it all made a really bizarre, beautiful picture in my head.

My mom brought her friend along and her friend's son, Drew, who was much older than I was. I was around 5, he was 8 or 9. We got to talking before the concert and kind of hit it off. He asked me if I liked Pokemon. I told him I really knew nothing about it. Partway through the concert, he passes me the Exeggcute card and says "consider this the beginning".

If he only knew what he was starting.

For some reason, the fact that the thin piece of cardboard could be used in a game and had such an odd character on it made it magical to me. I clung to that card everywhere I went. I zoned out the music and stared at it the whole time. Shortly afterward, I get a letter in the mail with 9 other cards from the Jungle set. I recall an Eevee, not sure about the rest. At this point I decided I wanted to know more. I wanted to learn how to play. What these cards meant. Which were good. I told my parents, and they told someone else...

That Sunday, church finished up as usual. I waved goodbye to my cousins and the rest of my close family that occupied the small town church. As I was exiting, Shelby, one of the member's of the band my mom was in at the time (she has her own Country group now), pulls us aside and says she has a surprise for me.

It's pitch black out, past my bedtime, and a full moon. We go into the back parking lot for the transfer. She reaches in the window of her old van and pulls out Pokémon Play It! v2, complete with the accompanying theme deck.

I completely flipped out.

It all went downhill from here. I stopped at a fishing store renting out Pokemon Stadium for a week for a buck and rent it without hesitation. I fall in love with the main video game series style battling and end up buying it at once. On a trip to the lake my Granny lives in, I picked up Pokemon Yellow, brand spanking new at the time, from a Wal Mart, and hook it up to Pokemon Stadium on a tiny trailer tv. I am mesmerized and get so addicted, I get a Game Boy Color before the week is over. My dad watches an episode of the anime and falls in love with it, prompting me to watch it with him every day, and he likes watching me play Yellow so much he helps me construct a master time and own the Elite Four several hundred times... it's amazing how close the experience brought us. Every time someone went to the little 7-11 to get gas I would insist on going so I could pick up a pack of Pokemon Cards.

That Exeggcute card turned me into an obsessive fan in every way, and now I have thousands of cards, almost all the games, a working Snap Station in my room, walls plastered with animation cels and posters, I'm frothing at the mouth for Black and White and I don't resent that night at the concert one bit. I know it's an odd card to love, but that card really changed my life in the end, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Well, I'm not sure which of the 25 or so I have is the original, but I love them all

Mine had to be the Mewtwo given out from the first movie- which also gave me a Dragonite and two Ancient Mew cards- all these count as my first.

I was only four- so they (Mewtwo) show there age.

The Shadowless holo charizard from one of the first sets

an Italian Bulbasaur card.

my friend gave it to me, since she didn't understand a word on it. 8D
