Mine's when there's no words and just great music to a montage of the show like the opening to Zeta Gundam's US release. As much as I like lyrics to a song, the BGM "A Sign of Zeta" made a great dramatic intro that gave a theatrical vibe to each episode. As the old saying goes, "Less is more."

What's your kind of opening?

What that suits the sequence being played as well as the tone of the series in question. For example, I love the original Hunter x Hunter openings for the first series (1999). It suited the tone and atmosphere of the show, imo. It started off kind of innocent and gave off that feel of, "We're about to go on a journey and have a great adventure" and all that, then it got a bit darker (York Shin arc, Ryodan stuff), and the intro was changed, and the song was more rock-like, which, imo, suited it.

The first song/opening/music style for the remake of the series doesn't fit at all to me. The generic, rock, pop stuff doesn't seem to fit for me and I downright dislike it. It also feels too modern for me. It should work it's way up, like the original series did (imo).

I like fun and catchy ones that get me excited to watch the show:yahoo:. I also like darker and more serious ones that are just plain cool:cool:.

Any opening is fine as long as the music doesn't have many layers. Aka, when it gets noisy. :I

Ever seen an opening sequence that uses clips from the show?

one like Kirby right back at ya. English dub. It needs a good sound track, a combonation of stock and unique clips, make it so the characters have interaction with the song and put a little bit of humor in it such as Escargoon asking for a "money back garuentee, and just make it fun

As long as they fit the tone of the anime in question I'm alright with it. If it's a very serious anime I don't want some cutesy bubblegum opening.
