Can't see a thread like this, but apologies if it's already out there.

Whether it's somebody being super generous or super stupid, let's hear it.

I've had a fair few. One before Pokebank released where a guy wanted my Reshiram for dex info, and promised to trade it back. Bull-shit.

Phiones nicknamed "Manaphy".

And tonight this bloke showed me a shiny Greninja and wouldn't accept any of my shiny offers for it. He showed me nicknamed Pokemon spelling out "2 for 1" "You go first" "No scams"

You're a comedian, mate. No Pokemon is ever worth 2 for 1 if it's equal to what I'm offering.

I've always liked actually making friends through the Passerby/Acquaintance feature. Talking through Shoutout and arranging battles/trades, then eventually adding people to your FL is something that happens more and more. It's by far the best feature that's been added this gen.

It can get annoying though <_<

Like this one guy wouldn't stop requesting battles and trades, Everyone continues to try to get your FS.

Sometimes I even have to turn wi-fi off.

I've my fair share of wierd/annoying incidents on PSS.

Shout-outs that say: "ImGunaHangMySelf" and "bestsexever" are the main offenders for WTH?.

People that'll DC when I'm about to win a battle and then ask for a Trade or to see my PR Video. So you can't accept your loss, but I'm supposed to give you a Pokemon? That ain't how this works. Then there's just DCing in general.

People who have their Pokemon nicknamed the name of the Pokemon they want. I show them my Pokemon named "ICANGET4U" and leave the trade so I can get it for them, and then they won't stop trying to trade, showing my their Poke named "PLEASE!" over and over. Like, can you give me five damn minutes to get the thing?!

I will admit, I love the feature in the long run, as it fun making friends and all that, but it is annoying sometimes with all the 12-year-olds screwing around.

I never deal with Passerby's. 99% of the time I'm offline and don't have to deal with the PSS. But when I'm on PSS, I never accept a Passerby's whatever they want.

My best Passerby experience was when someone traded me a Kalos shiny Kingdra holding Leftovers. I was like, Jesus Christ, is it my birthday?

Same here. Most of the time, it's constantly scrolling through shout-outs, and it drives me crazy. I just stay offline until I need to trade or whatever.

Passersby from time to time spam me with trade requests. I usually dont like to accept because they have the tendency to just show off their legendaries and when I try to trade with them, they refuse Pokemon I offer. They probably just want shinies and legendaries.

I normally do not connect online, but when I do, sometimes I'll get in contact with good sports who don't disconnect when things don't go their way and offer reasonable trades, but most of the time I'm dealing with people who never accept trades yet constantly ask for them. Which begs the question: what do these people want when asking for a trade? They are either really picky or they are just being trolls who like to waste time.

Don't get me started on the immature shout outs. One time I saw a person who had SUCKMAHD (suck mah d) as his. My god, these people. Either that kid has issues or I am looking at a gigantic manchild who really thinks Pokemon is for adults.

Most of my experiences with Passerbys haven't been too bad. Most of them are the reason I now have a Mew, a Shaymin, a couple shinies, and a lv. 11 WISHMKR Jirachi. Whenever someone tries to trade with me, I usually will take it. You never know if the person might be reasonable and you might come out with a huge win. Although I remember one person who kept on sending me trade requests, showing a normal Haunter, then showing a Pokemon nicknamed "ItsShiny". Haha. Nope. You think I'm THAT stupid?

Oh yeah, one time I was trading with this generous guy. He showed a lv. 48 Dialga. I showed an egg, an accidental extra from... a Dodrio maybe? He took the trade. I pretty much got free trade fodder.

Bad:
Those that only wants to trade non-Kalos-native legendaries for non-Kalos-native legendaries.

Good:
One time, I had a guy who gave me a Dialga. I was at first, oh no, not another legendary show-off again. Except he accepted my Xerneas. Thus starting a long trading spree of trading legendaries for legendaries to fill in my National Pokedex. So far, I had at least 8 of Shinnoh Legendaries recorded in my Pokedex.

Then there were those decent players who would happily accept my Johto/Hoenn/Shinnoh/Hidden Ability Froakie starters for other mons that either: a) I needed for my Pokedex; or b) I'll be adopting for online battles/Battle Maison. And some of them happily shared their PR Video with me, as I did with them.

I mostly have bad experiences unfortunately. Whenever I send a trade request to people who have their shoutout as "I want to trade," the never ever accept. I've pretty much given up on it, but I do admit it is pretty cool when it does work. The Game Chat feature is really nice, but I never use it because I'm really shy...

I was up all night the night that the PokeBank opened in Japan trying to get all of the starters and non-Kalos available mons so I could breed them + wonder trade them. I connect online mostly to send O-Powers to my friends if they want one, so I'd have things like "hatching Tepigs!" as my status so I could get the Hatching Power. (Passerbys are very generous in giving these, which is definitely appreciated, and I don't mind trading those back and forth at all.) I quickly learned that the status was a mistake because I got trade requests left and right. (Yes, I turned them off after a while ;p) But anyway, someone traded me a shiny Pinsir in return for an Oshawott or something. At first I thought they were trolling me, but they sent the trade request and accepted it again when I confirmed, then sent me a bunch of "Nice!"'s, haha.

A few times I'd see random passerby's status' that said "looking for Cyndaquil" or whatever, and if I had one I'd ask them for a trade and show them what they wanted, but like 99% of the time they already had what they were asking for and then I didn't want to trade with them anymore and it was annoying but my own fault, haha.

Most I just...like reading their status'....

I don't really see how the random requests are annoying--they display on the bottom screen and are fairly easy to ignore. I keep accidentally skipping them because they keep requesting as I enter buildings.

It vaguely annoys me how many people with statuses like "LiveForBattles" or "BATTLE PLEASE" don't accept my challenges. Not to mention DC-ing toward the end of the battle when they do accept...

Also, people who just beat the game or don't play often and ask for trades, then offer pokemon you can easily catch in game. I know they're probably not experienced in the competitive scene, but its still a waste of time.

Generally, my passerby experiences have been pretty good -- twice now I've been able to get trade-evolve Pokemon to evolve this way (using the status to ask for help). My biggest fear every time I do that is that the other person will just up and leave with my Pokemon, kidnapping them, but so far, that hasn't happened yet. They'll usually trade me something valuable to ensure I stick around (the first time I was traded a lv 36 shiny Protean Greninja, the second a lv 70 Celebi), and I don't mind them doing that because hey, I get why they're doing it, and I'm not going to steal someone else's Pokemon on purpose.

Other than that... it's the same old people-sending-me-battle/trade-requests thing. This happens especially when I'm already in battle, and I tend to ignore them anyway xD

Yeah, that gets annoying. I like playing 6v6 battles but am too shy to ask, so I tend to wait around for someone to ask me. Nobody does, so then I go and play Battle Spot instead, and then comes the flood of battle requests...

On the whole I've liked it, though it seems that more and more the Passersby are made up of beggars after event legendaries. I did have one Italian guy who would not stop requesting trades. I traded with him once, I think, nothing special, and for a week afterwards whenever he saw me online he pestered me for trades

I removed someone from my acquaintances list last night because of this. He'd pester me constantly until I finally conceded and was immediately greeted by a lvl 100 Arceus nicknamed 'Mew Plz'.

I think the best Passerby experience I've had was when someone traded their Shiny Electrode to me for a Magnemite. I don't even know if they did that on purpose or just accidentally clicked the 'Trade' button. I was even like, "Did that person somehow think the Magnemite I was offering to them was shiny too?". That Electrode's still with me and it was the first ever shiny that has ever gotten to my possession this current gen, that's why it's memorable for me.

As for immature Passerby folks, I actually had not encountered one until just today. This person asked me for a trade, which I accepted since I was still looking for the last legendary to complete my dex then, and I was taking a chance that maybe this person had it. They didn't seem to have the Pokemon I'm looking for and they weren't also offering me decent Pokemon for the legendaries I'm offering, so I called the trade off. Then while the message "waiting for the other player to finish" was on-screen, they began showing Pokemon with nicknames to convey that they're looking for shiny legendaries only, etc., and the last one they showed was a Zigzagoon nicknamed "YOU ARE SH*T". I don't really mind those kind of language since I play a fair amount of games where words like those gets tossed around too much between players (even verbally, lol) but those kind of games don't have the same audience as Pokemon. I just can't imagine if that person is trying to trade with players who happen to be very young children, then gets flashed that message.
