You're a kid, you're a squid, you're a kid noooow~

Seems like a few of us here have the game, so I thought I'd make a thread where we can discuss all things Splatoon. Multiplayer, single player, favorite gear, amiibo discussions, upcoming DLC, etc.--whatever's on your mind!

We can also share NNIDs so we could do some Bulbaforums online shenanigans, since you can technically have battles with friends (it's just rather cumbersome right now).

Speaking of, add me on Wii U! NNID: K.R.K.Y

Right now my favorite special weapon is the Bubbler--unfortunately the only main weapon I like that's paired with the Bubbler is the Splattershot Jr. Not that there's anything wrong with the gun, it's just that if something with a bit more power was paired with the Bubbler I would be heaven. I'm gonna try some weapons that are paired with the Kraken to see if I like those sets, since the Kraken has Bubbler-esque qualities that I like.

Is the game really that good? I've never been a big fan of multiplayer-heavy titles (aside from Smash Bros., of course).

is there any possibility of a 3ds version of the game?

@PikachuColoredPichu

It's a heap load of fun! Regardless of your skill level, it just has that much charm to keep you invested.

I've never been very good at shooter games, whether they be first-person or third-person; which is why when I first got this game and played it, I thought I wasn't going to like it from experience alone. Then I gave it another chance, got better, and now I praise it as a new IP that gave the shooter genre a much needed breath of fresh air. I love the zany characters and I love the fun and colorful atmosphere. I've always stayed away from shooter games from the fact that they are too gritty and just unpleasant. With this game, you get the third-person shooter aspect with the charm you'd expect from a light-hearted series. I LOVE this game! =D

Also, even if I wanted it, I...don't have the cash...I'm planning to see a couple movies this month and in July, two with my mom...

Splatoon is AMAZING! It is the only shooter I have ever liked and its also the only time I have enjoyed multiplayer more then the story mode. I've been working on other games so I'm only level 6 right now but I REALLY want that Kraken roller everyone uses.
If anyone would like to add me for some turf wars my NNID: CakeFairy.

First, I can see why you want the Krak-On Roller, since it is my favourite weapon. :)
Second, I shall add your ID next time I use my Wii U. Oh, and mine is on my profile.

I MIGHT think about it when I get my tax refund in August...I'm planning to get "Super Mario 3D World" and "Yoshi's Woolly World" as my main titles that month, along with a New 3DS XL (seriously, when is that stupid "use amiibo with non-New models" thing coming out?! It's been a long time since February, when amiibo can be used on that fancy new model, and no sign of it...is Nintendo lying?)

According to Wikipedia's page on Amiibo, it's supposed to come out around the time of that Animal Crossing home designer game.

@CakeFairyForever & @BadAssGardevoir -- I added you two!

I'm currently at Level 14. I tried using the Krak-On Splat Roller, and it was just a horrible experience. I think I'm just doomed to using the Splattershot Jr. forever, I don't really like the other weapons all that much.

I'm also surprised at how little I've touched the single player mode, especially since I bought the Splatoon 3-pack amiibo set. Usually I'm all for solitary experiences, but as soon as I boot up the game I get carried away into multiplayer territory. It doesn't help that the single player mode reminds me so much of Super Mario Galaxy (not that I have a problem with Galaxy, it's more that I'm not a fan of platforming games in general).

I got this game around last week, and I think it's a really fun game! Rollers are my preferred weapon of choice in Turf Wars since they have the potential to contribute a lot, and besides, I tend to rack up more points with Rollers than with the Chargers.

Anybody tried Ranked Battles? I did, but I am still in C- due to one time losing five times in a row with a Roller. That's why I switched to a shooter with long range for Ranked Battles, and I seem to have an easier time.

Thanks for reading.

Oh yeah, I forgot to brag about my progress. :evil:

Well, I have reached Lv. 20 (a.k.a. the max level) and in Ranked Battles I have a rank of B-.

As for how I find the Ranked battles, they are quite enjoyable when they're not entirely one-sided.

I need context on the "Kid now, squid now" that people are babbling about on Facebook.

Ah, Splatoon~
To be honest, a few months ago I was on the fence about this game. But I kept watching more gameplay videos of it and I became more interested.
I actually bought it with a Wii U and am I glad I did! Really, I've never been a fan of shooters, but this game is incredibly fun and addictive... even though I don't think I'm all that amazing at it, aha. My favorite weapon right now is probably the Splattershot Jr., but I also like the Roller.

I beat the final boss in single player a few minutes ago. It was the longest boss battle I fought in the game. Also if anyone's ever in the mood for Turf Wars my NNID is Durbegaarasan.

.52 fab-variant is my favorite gun atm

I am on hiatus with the game until I'm allowed to create teams, which I think is in august? I figure I might as well not waste my interest on the game on this current plebish online system.

nin id is the same as my username if anyone wants to add me for whatever reason

Sure would be nice to get it...if, y'know, my job wasn't being so cheap to me and I hadn't preordered another game recently.
