Has anyone ever told you that you're older or younger than you actually are?

Does it annoy you?

Flatter you?

Have any stories?

I'm 21 years old and I go to college. When people randomly come up to me, they tell me I look like a 18 year old freshman D:

It does get on my nerves when they tell me this, but I find it funny when they get suprised when I tell them my real age :D

i've just recently been my real age to other people. :I in the past i rarely looked my age and i never acted so (i guess...i think i've been immature enough to be my age plenty of times). most of the age confusion happens online, though. i have a tendency to act on impulse and like a bit of an airhead in real life, so i think people can believe me then when i tell them i'm only fourteen, haha.

I look a LOT younger, and can pass for 12-14. I'm 18 now, as a note.

The only story I have is kinda simple. I was going to get Persona 4 at best buy and they needed to see ID since it's rated M. When I handed the lady my driver's license she stared at it a little shocked and looked at the picture and then to me a few times as well as making sure it was a real license. xD

It doesn't really bother me, cause I know I look a lot younger, plus I always think of how in MS and HS girls wanted to look older and would make fun of me for looking younger, but come a few more years and they'll all want to look younger and be jealous. ;D

On the flip side, I've been told I sound older online. xD Most likely due to the fact most people my age have that whole chat speak thing going on.

Hi, I'm Ryuu. I may be 17, but if I were to go buy a beer (not that I would) I wouldn't get carded, because everyone seems to think I'm 21.

I'm 19 but last year somebody in a shop wouldn't sell me a DVD because it was rated a 12. No! It definitely Isn't flattering. I find it quite insulting and hard to buy things without ID!!!!

I'm 15, but people usually say that I look like a 20 year old.

I've got lots of stories about this.

For example, some days ago I was at my favorite video game store. I began to talk to the recently employed salesman there. After some minutes, the guy looked at me and asked: "hey girl, how old are you?". I knew he'd be shocked if I answered, so I asked back: "how old do you think I am?". "Well, you sound like a 20 year old guy, and also like some things that only people older than 25 would like. By your looks, I'd say you're in college. So... 18 years old, 22 at most?". "I'm 15". "No way. You're joking, right? OMG YOU CAN'T BE THAT YOUNG!!".

So, yeah...

Edit:

Lol, I've actually done this. Twice.

According to some people, but not all, I look slightly older than I am.

People are always telling me I look like I'm no older than 13, even though I'm 18. Yes, I do have a story about this. Once when I was in highschool, I was walking home in my school uniform and my neighbor saw me. She then stoped me in shock saying she had no idea I was a Junior in highschool. I was in shock myself that she thought I was 12, so I just responed that yes, I was in fact 17.

Then just a few months ago I was talking to another neighbor about how I like college. That's when another neighbor, who I hadly ever talk to, overheard this and cut in with "You're in college already?" I then had to give my usual response, "Yes, I'm 18. I was born in 1991..." It happens all the time.

People usually pass me off as being 26-28. I'm turning 22 in June. It doesn't particularly do me anything. I just find the reactions funny when I tell them how old I actually am. Classmates in college usually estimated me around 25. It's probably because I proudly refuse to shave frequently. Beards do make you look older.

I actually behave as if I'm older than I really am. Considering my cousins are all about 20 years older than me, it's no surprise I've been much more of an adult.

It has its benefits though, for me at least. I mean, I'm a smoker, while the legal age limit for buying the cancer-inducing-sticklets is 16 here, I could easily buy them when I was 14.

I'm 16, but I look a bit like an 18-21 year old because of my beard/mustache.

I look older than I actually am. I'm 15 and people think I'm in my like 20s. It's creepy when I get the older guys looking at me. ._. Especially if they're not attractive at all.

Definitely younger.

Just today someone asked me what grade I'm in. I'm 25 years old. :p

I'm 16 and I can pass for 12 easily. :p Kinda gets annoying after a while, but I just bear with it.

Meh, I look slightly younger than I am. I could pass myself off as 12 (A very tall 12 year old at that), even though I'm 15.

if i do myself up right, i can pass for a few years older than i actually am [16]
probably because i have these awful dark circles under my eyes =_=
plus i can be very... intense-looking if i want to be. it's hard to explain.

i went to a basketball game at my school last year, and the lady at the door was like "are you really a high school student? you look older than that"
it made my night 8D

In stores where the staff are mostly male I don't get questioned about my age, but women get really catty about it when I try to go to the cinema to see a film rated 15 or when I purchase films/games and occasionally music. The few girls I go shopping with find it hilarious considering that I'm both the tallest & oldest of us and they don't get questioned. Especially in the cinema when I try to watch a film rated 15... I'll be 18 in May. x_x Mother says I'll be thankful in a few years, seeing as her last workplace didn't believe she could be over 21 during her training days - and she was in her mid-thirties at the time.

In my final year of school (which I didn't complete~ therefore this was in August) there was an assembly for the senior classes (years 5+6) and a teacher refused to let me in because she thought I was a younger student lying to get out of class despite the fact that she had taught me in my second year and I was wearing a 6th year tie. It's not even like I'm short/flat or anything, it's just in the face. ¬.¬
