I want him to joing the group.

I want a new main male character that has Pokemon.

His typing could be perfect for being an ad for the Underground parts, like a archaeologist.

He has Diglett, meaning we might see the UNDERSIDE of it. He would probably have a Maasura...whatever the hell that is.

He wears a helmet most likely, as Garden said the first Gym Leader would. Probably a mining one.

He should be a gruff, but kind, older man who travels with two young and easily trusting teens through dark caves.......
 
The D/P series already seems to be a rehash of AG, we don't need it to be a rehash of Kanto as well.
 
Hikari can be different than May too, but if she's a coordinator, she's a rehash.

Another ground-esque Gym leader joining the group is also a rehash.

I don't think the writers would make Gym leaders into main characters anymore either. We're a long way from 1998.
 
Brock used Rock types, but even then he pretty much dumped that.

All the main characters, minus Ash and Tracey, are somehow connected to a Gym leader.
 
Maybe Hikari will be connected to a Gym leader. There ya go.

Besides, you don't even know what Zack really looks like yet. At least wait to see how old the guy is or something.

I wouldn't mind Zack tagging along, so long as he's no older than 17-ish and doesn't act like Brock. I like his name, so he gets automatic cool points.

Seriously, I don't think the name will stay the same. The English names of GLs tend to be related to the type they train. Example: Roxanne, Wattson, Norman, Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney, Morty.
