What do you think of him? I personally think he looks unique and neat, as well as a breath of fresh air from the stale use of Ganondorf. I hope this new villain lives up to the hype, because I'm liking him.

I personally like him a whole lot. I think if he has a good backstory, he has really good potential. The fight itself also seems like it could be fun, which is always a plus. I hope he is a good villain.
But what I hope for the most out of him is different intentions other than "ruling the world", because almost every Zelda villain has that same goal, and it is getting old. But if he has a different intentions and adds well to the overall plot, I think I could like him a whole lot.

3 bucks says that it is an ancestor of Ganon.

Well, he doesn't look Gerudo, but then again, they could easily come up with a bullcrap explanation of why that is, so I wouldn't completely take it out as an answer.

Nope, I say he gets hijacked by Ganon's ancestor.

Either that, or a Ganon from further on in the split timelines comes back in time.

Why?

Because its Ganon.

I don't see a pic. Could you repost it, please?

I believe he's already said in trailer dialogue that he's a minion for a higher power, who I would not put past being time-travelin' Ganon.

Watch, Twilight Princess and WindWaker Ganons go back in time, team up, and fight the single link and become their own grandfathers.

And then they get hijacked by a third Ganon.

It's all about the tongue-wag, man.

Anyway...definitely liking him from the boss trailer. The Sword Girl is pretty cute too...she talks like a robot it seems. 0.o

The pic's broken, but I know who you're talking about.

Seems like a workable Zelda villain to me, so I won't complain. Doesn't matter anyway, since his status as main villain will inevitably be hijacked by Ganon in some way.

Garbage. I don't want exposition or story in my villain. I want a functional game (which I highly suspect SS will not be). Nothing was wrong with Ganon. Putting things into Zelda that are not Zelda will not win this Zelda fan's cash. I'll kindly sit SS out.

Rite, because you can't have a good Zelda game without Ganon. lulz.

This is a pretty odd response. :/

I really don't see how this villain ruins the game for you that much that you want to sit it out, plus Skyward Sword is looking great and people who've played it at E3 agree that it's fun to play as well. Really have no clue where you're coming from here, buddy.

Besides, the BEST Zelda game doesn't have Ganon in it...nor does the best portable Zelda. :)

That guy, Ghirahim, looks pretty cool. He sort of reminds me of Blue/Green/Whoever-the-heck-he-is because of his personality, saying that he will beat Link the next time they face each other. But if he's the final boss, fighting him will probably be like fighting Ganon but with SS's Wii Motion Plus gimmick.

I like him..................... though he creeps the fuck out of me.

That's very much a matter of opinion - if we can count the LttP port as a handheld (my favorite handheld Zelda, BTW), that one did have Ganon. My other favorites, OoT and Twilight Princess, both contained Ganon (though Majora's Mask was excellent and had a non-Ganon main antagonist).

But the secondary villains in Zelda games (Zant, Aghanim, etc.) have always been worthy villains. Giving the antagonist backstory won't necessarily mean that they'll sacrifice gameplay. Zant had a story to back him up, Aghanim had his fair share of exposition, and their respective games were among the best in the series. Besides, the hands-on response to the game has been mostly positive so far. I'd wait for actual reviews to come out before making assumptions and/or making final decisions on whether to buy the game.

I'd rather have a Zelda game with some actual innovation and without Ganon than another stale retread of Ocarina of Time with Ganon. You know, something beyond "collect the same damn 8 items all over again in the same themed 8 dungeons". Spirit Tracks came damn close to that, but I haven't seen anything creative in a console Zelda since Ocarina.

Majora's Mask and Wind Waker? Especially the former.

I fail to understand how giving the villain a good backstory would sacrifice fun gameplay. And I don't necessarily want Ganon not in the game, I just think it would be fresher to start with a new villain and a new beginning.
