Glitches and Hacks Discussion Thread

Playing Pokemon Black last night, I connected to the GTS and searched for a Spheal. Four trainers appeared, but there was an empty slot (as if there were 5) in between two. A few seconds after opening the "select trade partner" screen, my game froze. As in, the music track was stuttering, no ability to manipulate the touchscreen, no text appearing in text boxes. I had to restart.

I went back to the GTS I searched for Spheal again, and the same thing happened. Except rather than freeze my game, a popup window appeared, Informing me there was an error and I had to shut down my game.

I am unsure what happened, and am unwilling to try again to find out.

I've seen that glitch before. No idea what causes it, but it seems to be on the GTS server end, and not a problem with your game. If you filter the search results (by gender/level/what have you) you should be able to get around it.

I remember I was once screwing around with my Pearl, and used the AR walk through walls code. So, I decided to fight Cyrus at the Team Galactic HQ before fighting the fourth gym. I also caught Palkia sometime before the sixth gym I think, too.

Then, after I beat Cynthia, I went to Veilstone City, and was about to walk into the Team Galactic HQ through the warehouse in the back. When I got there, Dawn and two Galactic grunts were standing outside the warehouse, and that was when I realized I'd forgotten to do that event. So I did it, but my game froze immediately after. That was when I learned my lesson about hacking, lol.

I don't think I've encountered any glitches while not hacking. But that's probably a good thing.

Re: The "Is My Pokémon Hacked?" Thread

My friend gave me 2 hacked victini a hacked jirachi and some hacked items. Will this ruin my eligibility to compete in official tournament?

I'd get rid of the pokemon and the items. Because if you do keep them, you will lose your eligibility.

The items probably won't hurt if they're things you can obtain legitimately anyway, but the Pokemon should definitely go.

i've tried the tweaking glitch for pokemon diamond before. i knew i shouldn't have but... I REALLY WANTED A SHAYMIN. it totally ruined my game and caused me to start a new game though. lesson learned.

oh, and there was this one time when i went to the main menu for my pre-owned pokemon ranger and it spazzed out on me and made noises like when your tv crashes and that black and white screen appears. totally scared the doodoo out of me.

MY EGG GOT FREAKN' POKERUS!!! WTF!? WTF WTF WTF!?!?

I found a glitch which I've named the Trick Zone.

But nobody cares so why do I even bother talking about it.....

Huh? If nobody cares, why on earth would this thread exist? :)

I watched your video, and I'm very interested. I could be wrong, but I gather it must be somehow related to, or in the same category of glitches as "0 Error" and others. I really enjoyed your other video documenting the effects more in depth. If have any more findings, please do share! :D

I say nobody cares because everytime I ever talked about the Trick Zone people always ask me "Do you get any special Pokemon out of it?" I tell them no and then they lose interest. It seems like most people who are interested in glitches in Pokemon are only interested so that they can find some "Pokegod" or 2nd generation Pokemon hidden in the programming even though people have gone through the data and found no such thing exists. Also, the few people I meet who don't care about glitched up Pokemon only care if the glitch is from one of the newer games which this is not.

Any ways, that's enough ranting from me. Yes, this is like 0 Error., in fact, both the Trick Zone and 0 Error. use the same glitch it's just they get different results. I could go into detail of how it works but that would be kind of long and most of it is only my guesswork of how it works based on what I know about the functioning of computers and the Mew Trick.
In any case, I have recorded the different possiblities that could happen, the Trick Zone just being one of them (and the 0 Error. being another) here's the list I have come up with so far:
Mew Trick Experiments: Route 9 Up! (Warning: Wall-O-Text)

@coolcatkim22 Oh, this is fantastic!! :D

Thank you for the fantastic research.. though reading your reply just made me a little bit sad. Whatever happened to exploring glitches just for the thrill of it? And of course, generation I glitches are by far the best! For me, this never, ever gets old! :D

Hey, it's me and my hacking again :p So lately, my AR won't work at all with my SoulSilver cartridge. If I try to turn it on with cheats enabled, the intro will play like normal, but when it's supposed to go to the "Continue Game" screen, it starts over and plays the intro again. After that, the game can be played normally, but cheats won't work. This happens every time I try to use the AR with SoulSilver. Does anyone know what's going on, and if there's away to fix it?

Today, I was browsing the GTS on black for any Mews floating around, when I noticed that someone had put up a Mew that froze my game when I tried to look at it. Tried it 3 times, froze all 3 times. Whatever monstrosity it is, it must be a terrible one, because it freezes so bad that the musis starts going in a loop.

Why nintendo lets abominous hacks like that go on their servers while blocking legitimate things (XD Lugias, anyone?) off is quite beyond my understanding.

I've seen that before. That's a glitch with the GTS, not the Pokemon. Sometimes it just turns up screwed up results. You can see there's too many open spaces on the right - if the GTS was working the way it was supposed to, at least one of those would be filled, since the entire left side is filled. No idea why that happens or what causes it, it just happens. You can get around it by filtering the results.

(Also, "abominous"?...)

I could have sworn I wrote "atrocious"...on an added note, Dream World is no better. I saw a masterball-charizard the other day...

I've been playing with the Mew Glitch to find Pokemon besides Mew, and I found out that fighting the gambler guy who complains about how he's never won before makes a Missingno. appear. :3 Which... I'm pretty sure people either already knew or they just use Ditto's to get it to show up, but that's not the point. The thing is, I was trying to get a battle to start with Missingno. without crashing my game. Usually when you start battles using the Mew Glitch your start menu pops up, you close it, and then the battle starts. But one of the times I was hunting Missingno. I got a text screen instead. This is going to sound stupid, but it just said something like "why? why?? ", like my game was trying to tell me something. Like: "why do you keep crashing me you moron?! Missingno. doesn't like you!"

Well I thought it was pretty interesting.

So does anyone know why that happened? I didn't see anything on Bulbapedia, but I might've missed it. X3

invisible shiny bulbasaur!? i have never hacked or glitched or anything! whats the deal with this?

You mean you randomly encountered one? I'm not entirely sure, but I find the fact that you apparently can have one permanently roaming in your game to be total nightmare fuel. I personally would rather not have a repeat of the time I accidentally discovered Missingno. *shudders*

I've only ever encountered the invisible shiny Bulbasaur when I was using an Action Replay... I've never heard you could encounter them randomly. Did you buy your game used?

Also, @MostlyAffectionate That sounds like potential creepypasta material lol You're playing on the original Red/Blue/Yellow?
