The Diamonds in the Logo

Hmm, I don't think it would be a new mechanic as BIG as mega evolution was, perhaps a more "quirky" mechanic, but items related to the legendaries seems likely to me, and the fact that they are opposite colours to the logo might be similar to what was going in with the legendaries switched in Black and White.
Maybe a special kind of transformation stones, similar to Mega Stones, a la Orbs for Primal Reversion?
Maybe Lunar Evolution and Solar Evolution, which the two main legendaries go through?
Maybe the one in Sun goes through Lunar, and the one in Moon goes through Solar, or something like that?

Ash Greninja is a good idea. It's also a better idea then a full human/pokemon fusion. I'll take turning pokemon into Stands over whatever was going on in that manga.

I'll take anything but the plot of that manga. Keep it as far away from the games as humanly possible.

I HATE CHANGES! DON'T CHANGE THE FRANCHISE AT ALL! IT'S FINE LIKE WE KNOW IT!
CONSERVATIVE APPROACH FTW!!!!

AHAHAHHA YOU WIN!
More seriously, I like some changes. I loved mega evolutions when they came out. I liked roller skates. And diagonal movement. And riding pokemon (but that feature had way more potential than they used it for...)

But this is just weird, frankly. It's like a twist on the classic "fusing Pokemon" idea; instead of fusing with each other, WE get to fuse with them?!
I never liked the idea of fusing pokemon (except for fan fic kinda things), but I'd much rather have that than this.

That said, after thinking about it for a while, I WOULD be fine if this was just Mega Evolutions Part 2. I mean, as it seems to me, Ash Greninja isn't actually Ash, right? Just a Pokemon taking on his features. That's still weird, but it could just be an aesthetic thing. Like dressing up Pokemon.
OR, if this was just a thing for ONE OR TWO Pokemon. I said I disliked the idea of fusing Pokemon, but I was fine with it for Kyurem's formes... Because it was just a one time thing. So if we get to fuse with the version mascots... MIND YOU ONLY AS AN IN-STORY THING..... That's fine, I guess... Even then, it would be like, we fuse with them the first time but after that they can normally go to that forme... Otherwise.... Ughh I don't know, I have to think about this for a while, it's just soo..... uuughhhh

Mega Evolutions are very logical and selective changes. Same with the other changes you mentioned.

This is completely different. It messes up with the very concept of the franchise.

No, I wouldn't accept it even if it was to fuse with a legendary for a plot.

Fusing with the legendaries ONCE at the climax of the plot (and not at any point before or after with any other Pokemon) would actually be acceptable. It might be cool to take part in a Pokemon battle firsthand. That's the only circumstance under which I'd accept such a thing, though.

@Jabberwocky : Even if it was a one time thing, human/pokemon fusion doesn't fit in with the franchise at all.

Even with mega evolution it still fit because temporary evolutions have been done in other monster franchises. Things like Ash Greninja work because combining life forces during battle is a shonen trope and since it's a trope it's much more acceptable.

Human/Pokemon fusions are gross and they pretty much defeat the "collect and make friends with all the animals" foundation of the series. If trainers fused with their pokemon like they did in that Arceusforsaken manga, it would seem like they're just keep making games for the fetishists.

Beside, you always take part in the battle first hand through choosing attacks, items, and super effective moves. Why do you need a first person view of the battle since you're already taking part in it?

I second the idea of turning the pokemon into Stands.

It could fit as a single instance if it made sense in the context of the plot.
Even plot wise, I don't know how well something like that could fit in with the feel of the series. It's basicly turning the trainers into cat girls and other monster people.

It would make more sense if you "died" during the plot. Except you didn't really die and the legendary is just borrowing all your life force as a power up. After the fight your soul will be returned to you and the last thing you remember doing is fainting.

I'd really except the fusion concept more if the fusions were less human-like and more animal like. Like a quadrupedal pokemon can suddenly stand up on two legs, wear clothes, and speak perfect Japanese/English/ETC. But I just can't accept ReBurst type fusions. Like at all.

I think it's definitely something like Mega, but may be limited to the mascot legendary like ORAS. Or may be it's a new mechanic where they make new Mega but replace the specific Mega Stone with one of these diamonds.

Would it really be so bad to have burdt evos as an option? You're on your last Pokemon, things are looking bad, but you have the option to burst evo. You're on your last mon, so if you black out from losing your HP, there is no issue, might as well go out guns blazing.
