Oh my gosh I really like that idea, Team Skull just does their act to hide that they are really helping Aether. Great idea. I would love to see a twist where Aether turns their backs on them or Team Skull decides Aether is going to far.

Yeah, I think either Aether's gonna backstab Team Skull when they've outlived their usefulness, or Team Skull turns on them. Not sure whether Skull will pull a Starscream and take over or pull a heel face turn and realize Aether's too evil.

It actually wasn't as obvious to me. I always imagined he was just very civil and cared about his Pokemon.
