Still not totally on board with the whole "Pikachu storms off" idea, but now that Pallet Town and Delia are involved my interest has definitely been piqued!

I also have to admit, even if at first glance Pikachu leaving seems a bit OOC, this whole situation (with Pikachu going back to Pallet and Delia presumably) has big "siblings got into a fight" energy that is personally very amusing to me.

Still not too fussed about the episode’s premise but the whole Pallet Town thing at least has me intrigued to watch it now as opposed to just skipping it.

Unless it turns out to be another Pikachu’s Exciting Adventure which would make me grumpy enough

Also taking things out of context grumpy Pikachu is cute.

If you mean where Riolu butts in to battle with Ash, a lot of Pokemon have interrupted Ash's attempts to use Pikachu like that. Pretty sure the fact that Ash considered Pikachu the first choice in all those battles already supports my pointers against this episode's writing. And besides, this is a case of a whataboutism scenario since Riolu "not respecting Ash and Pikachu's relation" doesn't explain why Pikachu has to be a brat and attack Ash (your scenario should have made it so that it was mad at Riolu), it's Pikachu who should be patient and understanding.
Pikachu can be mad at Ash because he approves Riolu's behaviour. So if you said that it is Ash who is OOC there, it would be less controversial.

I still think Pikachu leaves for some other reason than a jealousy tantrum. Them going to Pallet Town could indicate that, since they could pretty well go there because Delia sends them on an errand or something. And since Pikachu is shown a bit jealous at the beginning of the episode, Ash might believe that.

Note that the preview doesn't really show why does Pikachu actually leave. It only shows angry pikachu and the scene after that he's already on the road with Mimey. They are trying to make people think that's the plot and there will be a plot twist at the end.

You can cleary see Mimey pointing at Pikachu to go back.

Considering Riolu is still technically a new Pokemon both to the world as well as the team, you can't blame it, if anything then it's far well behaved than some of Ash's other Pokemon. Among newborns, Scraggy was far more headstrong, Noibat needed more caring for. None of these scenarios presented any issues. For 'aces', Froakie even literally replaced Pikachu for the better half of XY and no issues there either.

Ash would only be OOC in this scenario if he outright neglected Pikachu, which he obviously wouldn't do. As recently as the battle against Galarfetch'd, Ash defaulted to battling with Pikachu but only relented to Riolu because it wanted to really battle (and it was its first, so...).

Mimey, Dragonite, Gengar, Galarfetch'd and Riolu have more reasons to run away than Pikachu could ever do as LFB rightly pointed out. Mimey especially, since a run back to Pallet Town and Delia are involved anyways.
Actually, any member of Ash’s current party would be more believable. Riolu’s a baby, so it’s bound to throw tantrums. Gengar was abandoned for three years, so it feeling angry when Ash isn’t favoring it makes sense. Farfetch’d might just get pissed off that it’s already being kicked aside a few days after being promised intense battles. Mimey had constant company and love from Delia, so being unable to connect with Ash might take a toll on it. And with how clingy Dragonite can be, I can totally see it getting anxious over not receiving attention.

Summary points out that it is quite likely scenario.
Neither Scraggy, nor Noivern (as well as most other Ash's Pokemon including Greninja or Infernape) rivaled Pikachu for the role of team's ace and trainer's favorite. Pikachu is understanding, so he won't blame Riolu. But Ash shouldn't have spoil Riolu by favors in training. The stronger the bonds, the stronger the backlash in case of discord, that's why other Pokemon don't have big reasons for such drastic actions.

Riolu gets waay to much focus and its only hatched 10 episodes ago. Besides I feel like Ash and Pikachu friendship is too strong for this
That's probably because 1) Riolu is a really popular Pokémon, and 2) they're likely setting building up Riolu as Ash's ace for this series. As a Lucario fan, I don't mind the focus at all.

The preview summary says that Pikachu gets jealous of the attention Riolu gets after winning a WCS match.

Except it's not the likely scenario.

He's focused on a single Pokemon only for a period of time quite often in the past, especially with regards to any move or technique they needed to perfect. There's no neglect there, has never been in the past. I don't see this situation as being any different as any of those other training sessions. With Greninja, it was literally a phenomenon where Ash and it became linked as one and yet you don't see Pikachu throwing a tantrum there despite the bond looking to rival his s own with his trainer. Neither of these scenarios resulted in Pokemon being "spoilt by favors". If anything, Pikachu's bond with Ash alone through all the series should be enough to reaffirm that it's behavior in this episode isn't proper writing. If this episode took place in OS, or even early AG, then it might have made sense but not now.

Assuming that the plot point is Pikachu reuniting with the mother Kangaskhan, they could have a variety of ways to resolve it with the most preferable one being Ash returning to Pallet for some home time, to have his new Pokemon meet his old and get them ready for the PWT. It could be a 'vacation' for Pikachu where Ash allows him to do whatever he wants and he wanders off for the said meeting to happen. But getting angry for a petty reason and hitching all the way back to Pallet? That's... Galarfetch'd.
