In all honesty, it doesn’t matter if the episode is a 2 v 2, 1v1, or even a battless episode, Ash’s episodes should be dedicated to Ash and Ash alone. Go gets more than his fair share of episodes in which the writers don’t allow Ash to interfere with Go’s spotlight so why is it that Go should be allowed to do the reverse? To deem this either a necessity or even remotely fair is like saying that the glutton who eats well every day of the week should be entitled to a portion of their friend who only gets to eat lunch twice a week’s food while they never offer the same in return. This is where the issue lies.If this episode was like the Korrina episode or the first Bea episode where Gou just unceremoniously gets some new entries added to his Pokedex without any actual development for his character or his Pokemon (while simultaneously taking up time that could've been spent on a 2v2 battle), then yes, I agree that the usual Gou complaints would apply for this episode. And yet, even though the focus of the short scene in this episode was Grookey (a Pokemon that was caught in the previous episode), and the main focus of this episode was a 1v1 that I feel had ample time dedicated for it, some people still felt like Gou was "stealing" screentime away from Ash in this episode.
